Cheers rosqo: I’ll have to get back to you in the morning. Its nothing urgent – just something curious really.

Wally: sorry for the possibly curt answers above: it was a busy weekend. Anything else / I can pick the missus’ brain on?

Have the police seen the photo?

It might be unrelated – but can you drop me an email when you can (in my profile).

Food: my main memory was lots of speciality hams. And cheese. Most hot food seem to be grilled / bbq’d. Good beer.

We were there on a walking holiday 2 years back (Tivat-Kotor-Citinja-Budva). Beautiful area, great walking to the east into the national parks.

Anything in particular you want to know?

Pete : what I did was first click the “Fitting” tab, enter a postcode then check the fitting price, the click “Select this garage”: all this before selecting the tyres. The fitting charge is paid locally: it doesn’t end up in your basket.

In Edinburgh it works out at about £12 a corner for fitting.

I’ve used them a few times. Ime bigger sizes and more premium tyres CAN be a lot cheaper (40% for me recently). Smaller sizes and more budget brands are probably not worth it in comparison to your local tyre seller.

Now – to be fair I’m olde – but for the eurail tickets I did several times : even if youre a chicken you’ll possibly / probably? do better outwith the eurail structure.

Gis a clue on final to / from cities? Day to arrive? You ok sleeping in a train station in the arse end of somewhere?

    #edit – as a mad guess London-Lisbon : voyages-sncf have a train sigle at £180. Cheaper to fly sadly.
    But give us the details.

andyl- there are no bolts left really. The wheel is sitting on the hub. And thats it. The wheel is on the eastern side of the car. There is an easterly wind. I survived.

Realistically I need a new hub. Wheel bolts. Possible a caliper.

#Edit – just to be clear : they’re not bolts: the hub has them built in as “studs”. I may not have the terminology down pat but its new hub time. Maybe driveshaft too.

just before the last one went:

And yes – the rac guy said the problem was 99% they were over tightened or under tightened.

Strange you mention that moonter: and I might be paranoid – but its possible.

The wheels were balanced 6 weeks / 2k miles ago.

    And the remaining bolt/ stud:

Lottery ticket time according to the RAC chap.

I never saw a car recovered so gingerly in my life- he didnt want to be the one scraping it on the ground.

captainmo: I suspect we’re pretty close to being neighbours (I’m between the Vic and Holiday Inn).

I “lost” 2 bikes and a chunk of kit 8 months back but in different circumstances.

Bizzrely I know who did it but the police arent too motivated about finding missing stuff but they nabbed him for other misdemeanours.

Anyway: I tried to post your photos above (rather than just embedded links) from your links above but they dont work. I suspect you’ve set picasa album as private or something. Just to be sure: try these settings:

    Embed image
    Select size
    Hide album link
    Image only (no link)

In the meantime I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

I’ve done a few Samsungs and older Apples over the years (but not an s3 mini!). Generally its a pita.

Anyway I discovered Timpsons -the key cutting folk (I think they’re uk wide?) do most screens for £40 ish. And guarantee the fix. That’s a bargain to me, but our local lass is a genius – I think its a franchise so ymmv!

#Edit- just looking at their website and its not at all clear that they fix phones. But they do:honest!

UK number plate – nothing. Hire car in Europe – fine in the post.

This- if its uk reg then chalk it up to experience. But if its a hire car you will be chased to the ends – and then add a hefty “admin” fee from the hire company.

I’ve a few different sets of Ruarks: the ones I checked are Talisman II’s.

I guess an amp could do it – but I’d guess you’d hear something going wrong. Assuming you’ve not being using it at vol 11.

Are you able to disconnect and compare the 2 crossover’s components? That;s where I’d start : capacitors etc.

Also do you know what driver make / model the midrange is? They tended to use the same makes across models (eg VIFA / Scanspeak / SEAC etc).

#Edit – What I’m getting at is that the midrange is probably knackered. You have a fair chance of picking up a used driver on ebay – possibly from a differently model ruark or even a different brand of speaker. What caused the problem: I’m not sure but I’d eliminate as many variables as possible.

Do you just want to carry stuff in it or sleep in it? Or do you want to quieten it down when driving?

If you’re not sleeping in it then a bulk head and an ebay ply deal is good value. To quieten the cabin, consider carpet for the bulkhead.

If you are sleeping in it then that’s a different ball game.

Oops I missed your last post there before my edit above.

    couldashouldawoulda

It sounds reasonable: if the drivers are still wired to the crossover when you’re measuring them then you wont get the readings you expect. Also – is the amp connected when you’re measuring?

#Edit: I’m just checking some old working ruarks here and the impedance at the binding posts show open.

I’ve got my 456 delivered raw (no headset, clips etc) at 1.61 KG.
Nerve (after being disassembled by me-so no headset cups or shock removed etc) 2.3 KG.

As regards commuting, the Canyon was great at damn near everything, but you defo loose a some energy pedalling when you’re late for work, it looks expensive parked up at an office, its a pain to carry anything on,

Weights: I’ll dig out my old spreadsheet. There wasnt much difference if memory serves. Give me a few minutes.

But I wouldnt put that as the biggest reason not to ride it to work.

I had both a C456 and a Canyon Nerve (XC – so not exactly the same as your dilema, but still…).

The obvious answer is you need both.

Really, its about budget. They are both (IME) great in their own fields.

You will know about the C456 finish. The Canyons are better in that regard. The bearings on the Canyon will need changing now and again.

I’d not commute on a FS.

    Anything specific – just ask.

Well speedster – if I’m wrong (and it does happen!) then I genuinely apologise.

But your only other post is ressurecting an 8 month old thread and your reply includes a link which is also strange in my book.

I’ll duck out of this now and wont say any more on the topic – good luck with your enquiry.

Yep – colour lasers are perfect for maps, data stuff, even small photos.

If you want an actual example of prints from an image / maps or something else then send them to me and I’ll post them back to you.

We run a home office with inkjet, colour laser and b&w laser.

Realistically: inkjet is the best of the instant home options for photos. But really pretty poor for photos compared to a decent lab prints.

The colour laser is great for pitches, boaring passes, brochures…. But – and a big but – if you have any kind of critical eye – even the best laser is poor for photos.

The B&W lasers do 90% of our printing. They are Samsungs (ML 1640 and a later version that I dont know the number of).

So in summary, buy a mono laser, and a decent inkjet for the occasional photos, or send them off to be done proper.

    Kids joke:

    Because six seven eight.

If someone can do them for £80 I would honestly go for that.

I did all of them on a 2012 nerve xc easily except the main one (near the BB) I couldnt get it to move after a couple of attempts – its spherical if that makes any difference. A thief relived me of the bike before my third try.

So – 240v power supplies to 12v DC?

Is the noise a loud low freq hum or something else?

Are both power supplies (the original ones for each device) and are both / either earthed types?

    lol.

Interestingly (well I’m bored), I’ve used the expedia – easyjet link to login to the same flight I mentioned above ~(mine has nothing to do with Expedia at all but it allows me login) but it now wont let me add a bag! Daft.

    I started at home page.
    Click Sign in.
It defaults to the most recent booking. I have to click to the Grey:
    Easyjet>MyAccount>MyBookings.

I then select the booking I have checked in for.

It allows me to add a bag (well its asking me to pay £23): flying tomorrow.

#Edit: just saw the Expedia bit. I dont know what your signin / pwd will be

I’m looking at “my easyjet”, showing checked in flights and “Add a Hold Item” is defo there. So I’m guessing we’re looking at different places?

easyJet > My account > My bookings > EMGVRnn

Just for reference – these ones with the new ALDI / LIDL machined markings are now in LIDL IRL and were in LIDL UK last week.

They are slightly different to the ones from the last ALDI / LIDL from the last 7+ years : eg they no longer turn on automatically when you move them.

The newest ones come with branded batteries. The motion is not as smooth as the previous generations. But the current generation are as accurarate (or is that inaccurate?) as the older generation ones.

So – yeah- not the same as yesteryear but still a good buy I’d guess.
