No experience of the Mutt but another vote for CG125, CBF125 or a Varadero 125 for a bit more weather protection

(according to the self build motorhome forum i’m on).

    What forum is that please?

Someone I went to school with converted and lives in an old mercedes Asda delivery van. It’s had a few issues but should be easier to work on being a ladder chassis over a panel van

I’m with Hastings currently but I can’t really recommend them, i’ll probably switch to Carole Nash next.

Please forgive my ignorance, I don’t claim to be knowledgeable on these things, i’m just trying to get a better understanding on the potential outcomes of Brexit.

My understanding of people not wanting FOM was due to lots of African refugees that had crossed numerous European countries to camp in Calais trying to get into Britain, rather than every country taking a quota. I tend to keep out of the news/media so i’m not sure how often this still occurs?

why not a boot mounted one?

I had a saris bones 3, it didn’t fit full suspension bikes very well as it picks up on the top tubes. Still only held 2 bikes. Obstructed brake lights and number plate so still needed a light board to be legal. It seemed to work lose and marked the edges of the boot lid when over tightened to try and compensate it working lose.

“They affect it a lot, for me – and the (aero) bars add wind noise, and the Thule bike carriers whistle at 50-60mph.”

10% is the number they use.

One friend removes the roof mounted racks often but its a 2 man lift really and he dropped it on his boot when he tried to do it on his own. Now he fully dis-assembles them.

I prefer tow bar mounted racks. Most my friends run Thule roof racks which are quicker and easier to use but affect fuel economy. They also leave them on their car all the time which to me highlights that they have bikes in their garages.

I have a Mottez rack, it’s a 4 bike rack but only ever fits 3 at a push. Some axles and wide bars can rub on forks and saddles etc causing a bit of damage. Tow bars on some modern cars can be really expensive. It has two holes that you can fit a padlock through to secure the rack to the car, but nothing to secure bikes to the rack. It uses toe straps to hold the bikes and the wheel channels wont work with plus tyres and have cracked using mtb tyres. My old one used to fold up when not in use.

My van won’t take a tow bar due to a wheelchair ramp so i’m going to look at making some brackets to fit a thule roof rack to the back

For me it depends how flexible the new mortgage is with over-payments. Then you could extend the term and still over pay as and when you desire, then if times get tough you’ve a lower minimum payment

I saw that but then they’have a lot of sweep so the wider they are the further back they’ll come so it’s maybe to counteract that

Where is the oil feed filter to remove? is it at the engine end or turbo side? Wondering if its worth just taking the feed off to visually check it then replace if necessary rather than blindly just flushing it and hoping.

ETA: Turbo end banjo bolt appears to have the filter in.

The CCDB Air has a pretty bad rep for reliability which is enough to put me off considering one

950g for the 29 2.5wt aggressor on my scales. I’ve bought it to go on the back replacing a 3″ knard

Personally I don’t think swapping wheels is a good solution as the gear indexing, drive train wear and brake pad alignment will need constant adjustments. Swapping tyres is a better solution especially if not tubeless.

To do road work on a mountain bike i’d want a 2x and to ride off road i’d want flat bars.

One bike will always be a compromise. A calibre dark peak for £450 would take care of road and faster off road tours and the ECR takes care of slower off road and mtb.

I had a similar ride the 1st time I took my Krampus out, it was ace.

My biggest issue with Stooge are understanding their model range, I’ve pre-ordered the mk4 because it was a good deal and can finally take a normal dropper. I’m looking to swap the frame over from my Singular Rooster that takes 3″ tyres so i’m loosing a bit on the back. After your/your mates feedback though i’m back to wondering should I have gone Speedball?

The monarch is a fairly common fault, in my riding group 3 people have had the issue, one of them twice. All with the boost valve and all covered under warranty. Mine doesn’t have the boost valve and so far has been okay (although admittedly doesn’t get used a lot). A few of us are switching to coil’s now

Cant see it being a 29er. I reckon its the mk3, the mk2 is currently available. The mk2 is similar to the mk1 but a stiffer chainstay, different rear axle and no front mech mount

Personally I think you’ve been fobbed off. I don’t think its a bad batch I think its been overlooked at the design stage. I can’t see them re-designing/scrapping linkages/frames so all they’ll do is fit a shorter stroke shock.

It wouldn’t bother me to ride it as they’re being sold. If your concerned fit a volume reducer so its a bit harder to bottom out. Eccentric shock bushes may also be enough to stop the tyre hitting the frame.

Some people have done budget builds with these but they’re a bit heavy,

I may have jumped the gun a little, my mate mentioned their crash replacement scheme so they may have just explained their policy. He needs to see what they offer him now the CRS has been ruled out but it still doesn’t sounds promising.

They’re clear its not a warranty claim. My guess is they only buy in frames and aren’t willing to split one, but people on pinkbike have managed to replace seat stays
