Ask him if you can take it out for an hour and see if you like it?

Would you actually ride it off road or is it just a comfortable tourer to you?

No direct experience but try Komoot and GPSies for routes, they seem popular in Germany

Try some other bikes out, it’s all part of the fun.

I think the wire will get damaged quickly on either of the head tube options.

I’d guess a front mech with 2 rings and a single rear with a chain tensioner is as good as it’s going to get.

How do you engage and disengage the 2 chains? mixed gear ratios on the same shafts just locks it all up.

I rented a Felt cruiser on holiday with a back pedal 3 speed, may even have been coaster to. I didn’t ride to far on it but it just felt clunky and vague.

Oh yea, i’m more than happy with my mech’s and dont see the point personally but as an engineering challenge thats where i’d start.

Only one chain though, i’m not getting all this double chain talk.

    What did the tester suggest?

A service and Italian tune up isn’t going to hurt, nor is wynns emissions reducer. Worth a try before replacing a Cat

It’s not just the number of chain links that is important its chainstay length to. So as the PCD goes up at the primary gear the chainstay length has to decrease as more of the chain is being wrapped around the chain ring.

I’d try inverting the rings ideally so 50 34 compact road at the front then 34 50 at the back, That would ensure the same chain length and chainstay length so tensioners and brakes shouldn’t need adjusting. Would still need a tensioner to switch the chain between the two without moving the wheel in the drop out though.

We did similar a few years ago, tried to get as far through France as possible on the 1st day and ended up in Dijon here,

    http://www.camping-du-lac-dijon.com/

I think it was ~10 Eu to park on the front, there’s electric hook up available, shower/WC etc and a short walk into town for a kebab.

We lost 2 hours on the ferry crossing then another hour due to the time difference. Also worth mentioning it was pretty much toll roads all the way through France.

I think we’re just going to leave it, it ‘s a shame and annoying but they are a young family who don’t particularly have a lot of cash. They’re not my favourite neighbours but it’s just not worth the time and effort. I hope she learns from it but I doubt it.

They’ve left it to us. She admitted liability and her car only has a scuffed bumper to add to its existing scuffs.

Its done 6k and hasn’t got any worse.

I guess the question is has anyone had their premiums increased after a non fault claim, if so how bad? I know insurance generally is on the rise but i dont want 2x 5 years of loaded premiums for a claim im not that bothered about.

It’s my partners car but we’d both have to declare it on our policy.

The car is noisy pulling away in 1st but otherwise drives fine. I was waiting/hoping it would go terminal but it just keeps going. Others have claimed 20k+ with a noisy box. Bearings are 65 quid but im not familiar with the box to decide if it’s beyond me to fit them/worth my time.

The other banger has 2x diesel injector seals on one injector. Its been a long unreliable road getting there. It seems to drive fine now and has for a while but ive lost confidence in it to the point i daren’t sell it on. I guess thats by the by though.

Did everyone get cable clips with their frames?

I’ve also made a boo boo, my existing rear hub is a Hope XC that can’t be converted to a t/a so I could do with a new 29″ 142 X 12 6 bolt shimano freehub rear wheel if anyone see’s any deals?

No tracking number but you can go on parcel force website and click on the tab receiving a package. From there you can select the date you received your card and your address then choose re-delivery options. They weren’t interested in delivering to neibours as they’d rather charge £12 to have it delivered to the local post office on a saturday or £5.50 for a different address.

I dropped Andy an email this morning, I’d been missed off the pre-order list so he’s sorting mine today and due for delivery on Wednesday (so pretty much the same date as others on here). It might be worth sending him a quick email.

    Red btw!

Bird’s lifetime transferable warranty is only against manufacturing defects so isn’t really that much better than most bikes warranties. If it lasts 2 years without breaking how can you then go on to claim it has a manufacturing defect? Like Cotic though I’m sure they’d be fair.

There’s a youtube channel called “Project farm” who tested penetrating oils and brake fluid came out best. Obviously not the nicest to work with and doesn’t want leaving on too long. I’ve used it on motorbike engine/swingarm and centre stand bolts.

OP: WHen did you go and was the Cafe open?

I’m there tomorrow but they had snow last night and are hoping for rain to wash it away. Bad times if the cafe is still closed.

**rare serious posting*** Most absolutely interesting place to work…Rutherford appleton lab at the science park down didcot..

Not a single day is the same and you get to design stuff that literally hasn’t ever existed so it’s never boring, they are hiring at the moment too.

    **Normal service resumes***

My 1st Job as a CAD operator was drawing up the wax tanks for their particle accelerator.

I’m kind of in a similar boat, a bit bored of CAD/staring at a screen all day. Been tempted to train as a plumber so I can get out side and be self employed but also considering emigrating. Both are a big plunge though.

I’ve just ordered turbo feed pipes for my van but will be swapping just the CHRA assembly when the time comes. Prices range from 50-160 but its a little more labour intensive.

ETA: May not help if its the vanes

Really wish i’d ordered the Rev’s now. I’ve order an air shaft and boost torque caps to suit these Yari’s to, but they’ll be going back.

did you order Tan or Grey/brown?

Mine (grey/brown) are due for delivery shortly but I’m expecting 27.5 so will be sending them back. I can’t think of many 29er’s that take 170mm forks.
