    Father Jack shirley?

    Sorry OP can’t help

Edit: I’d possibly create a cad block of the cut out and just work in from each end. One pitch at 20.5, one pitch from 90 then one in the centre 33.75 in from those

Yea not sure that works as you won’t get nice smooth transitions, i see your issue

any chance of your recipe @whitestone?

I tend to be lazy and use the pre-mixed packets. I like to set it going before a ride then come home and demolish a fresh loaf with a tin of soup.

Personally I wouldn’t ever buy one.

How big is the estate? There’s one local to me that they’ve been building on for over 20 years. No one wants to buy an old new build when they can have a new new build so if you needed to sell up you’ll be looking at a big loss so less of an issue on the smaller estates.

I’ve also heard you should use your own solicitor rather than theirs (possibly a watchdog tip?)

@mboy I too remember seeing E30 M3s for around £6000, it was around the time I passed my test. If i’d have bought one at the time though it would be either rotten or been stolen by now as I’ve only just got semi-secure dry storage. I also passed up a 70’s 911 Carrera RS replica around 10 years ago for around 10k but its similar story with secure dry storage.

Now i’m not the smartest when it comes to investing but on your example with your 748, the BOE inflation calculator says your £5400 in 2002 is equaivalent to £8,629.43 today. Does that mean technically you haven’t made anything but haven’t really lost anything either? You’ve had to store and maintain it but have had use of the bike/pleasure of ownership. I think that’s why its important to buy something you want/enjoy rather than just an investment. If you’d have used it and had more of the experience of owning it how much less would it be worth?

My opinion with most things is that it’s there to be used and enjoy. I still own my 1st car, really it was un-economical to repair but has a bit of sentimental value. It’s not going to last forever so i’d rather it die with 200k on the clock than 110k. This is mainly again because it’s been sat outside all its life.

    For £140

    Glass Bed £10

and some filament?? I shouldn’t need anything else to get me going? I know the glass bed is an optional/recommended upgrade. Any other recommended bits?

French subtitles on films may help build vocab.

I’ve spent hours listening but I still struggle to put a sentence together, I think actually writing and speaking are key. I keep meaning to go through Benny Lewis’s language hacking book.

    I’ve been using Germanpod101 but i’m sure there’ll be a frenchpod101 to.

if you have the hub and have to buy new spokes then is it worth buying a new rim so you’re not breaking the 100mm wheel? or just buy a complete wheel?

I’ve done similar. It was probably the best job i’ve had but it didn’t cover the cost of commuting. I asked for more money and it was apparent it wasn’t going to happen. I got sick of having to fix a car to get to work and trying to do things on a budget. I didn’t want to relocate and move away from friends & family or affect my partners career. I worked out 1/6th of my salary was spent just getting to work, plus 10 hours a week un-paid commuting in all weathers.

I did learn a lot from that job though which got me into the job I’m in now, closer to home.

I’m not convinced contracting is any better either, when you factor in no holiday pay/pension/sick pay/death in service/job security/regular income etc

I was wondering how the engine is sensing the oil “quality” to create variable service intervals? Is it carbon content?

My van is an ’08 and figured its just on the odometer. It counts down from 20k mile but I change it every 10k. I reckon its past its best by 6k.

What are my chances of getting a D2 spec on a D1 or D3 coloured frame… with a long steerer.. and on bike to work?

I’ve been considering the womens spec d2 as the black is just a bit bland for me.

    I’ve not fully read through the thread but a few comments from my experience;

There was talk about privatising student loans a while back, it’s alright saying most wont pay it back but 30 years is a long time and a lot can change.

My brother has since emigrated to Canada, that changes the repayment details. I don’t know the full extent but I know it’s cost him a lot.

I enjoyed my time at uni but with hindsight I probably would have been better off in an apprenticeship and working up to a degree. I don’t feel like I use a lot of my Mech Eng degree, it didn’t particularly set me up for a career in industry and practical experience in the work place would have been more beneficial, it has opened doors for interviews though.

My niece just says “she’s not that kind of girl”. Her 1st bike wasn’t assembled very well though, the tyres were flat, the brakes didn’t work and her mum had fitted the stabilises all the way down so she never got a feeling for leaning/balancing. Maybe just start by raising the stabilisers slowly?

I’ve got a Niner Jet 9 that in theory ticks a lot of your boxes, realistically it’s my least ridden bike as it’s just a bit dull. I should really dig it out and give it another go though.

You could do to break down what you want a bit, so far:
    it sounds like a 29er.
    You’ve said hardtail
Probably wants to take a 2x or 3x which restricts to not a plus rear.
Do you prefer drop bars or flat/loop bars?
Material: probably not aluminium or carbon so steel or Ti?
Cotic Solaris or equivalent Stanton for flat/loop bar options.
How about a soft tail? Not very popular for a reason though.

Can you get 2x MX bikes in a Hiace? I put a SV650 in a dispatch and that looked pretty full.

My partner keeps going back to LA Noire keeping on the rockstar theme. Tomb raider are popular to. Mirrors edge and portal going back a few years.

I’m more of a casual gamer so prefer Worms or little big planet type games.
