I’ve never owned anything built after 1991 so I’m blisfully unaware of how crap my bike is. But I like it.

We’re better off with gas than coal, so there is no environmental argument, other than a positive one.

But there is an on-going argument. There’s no agreement on what the environmental impact of fracking is – that’s why many countries have chosen to hold off until more is known. It seems a reasonable and rational thing to do – and it’s what the Welsh Assembly decided.

To say we should charge ahead because it’s potentially less harmful than coal is daft.

The isssue of fracking is a good example of how dysfunctional Britain is.

In Wales, there was supposed to have been a ban on fracking. But nobody seems to know if there really is – or how exactly it would work.

In theory, it’s because, while the UK Government controls mineral licensing, the Welsh Assembly has control over planning.

But the Planning Inspectorate, who would deal with any appeals, is part of UK Governemnt.

Should be a completely devolved matter.

It’s not going to have disc brakes but you should take a look at some vintage mountain bikes. Something classy and rigid from the 90s.

Think this has gone now but it’s the type of thing:

The top range adjustment screw simply doesn’t move anything.

Is it possible I need a new front mech?

I doubt it’s broken, it’s just an incredible faff.

You’ll only notice any movement if the cable tension is tugging the derailleur against the limiter. If it’s not, it doesn’t matter how much you turn the screw, it’s not doing anything.

The way I got it working, I think, was to do it without cable tension and phsically push derailleur away from frame as far as it would go. Then turning the limit screw to make sure derailleur cog lines up over biggest ring.

After that, you can forget about limiter. Any further problems will be cable tension related.

Because he’s a British resident with a British wife and British children who, 14 years ago, was in the process of applying for British citizenship. Something must have happened to have delayed that application.

The Spanish version of the Say Something In… is worth a look:

Ive found the Welsh version to be ace, just about the only thing that has worked for me.

It just gets you to immediately start saying and building sentences. All podcast based so you can listen in car/bed. Relaxing as well.

It’s not a big conspiracy theory but an example of the manipulative nature of the media. It’s a BBC report from the first attempt to persuade the public to support the bombing of Syria.

There were lots of really strange stories appearing at the time which claimed to show Assad using chemical weapons, such as this:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2313971/Syria-Does-video-Aleppo-victims-foaming-mouths-prove-Assad-used-chemical-weapons.html

But I remember seeing this BBC report and just thinking it was obviously fake. It was shown on the day of the first vote:

A fella called Robert Stuart has been doing a fantastic job of forensically pulling and tugging away at it:

If they’re used to using an Android, I reckon best sticking with that.

It’s dead easy to move stuff across and you can get a really decent phone for £100ish. A Motorola Moto E is around £90.

Deserves everything he gets because killing people for your beliefs is horrible – unless it’s for Queen and country.

When we blow up, shoot and torture people, it’s heroic and noble. Only recently Prince Harry was spitting feathers at the digusting treatment of one of our brave murderers:

The way employment works in a freemarket economy is to take as much as possible and give back as little as possible. You should play the same game – do as little as possible for as much as possible.

Sorry to talk about RoE and targeting again, but words like carpet bombing in this thread show a lot of ignorance of same. Lots of posters should consider whether their picture of how the planning and decision making cycle that leads to weapons release is the product of actual knowledge or their own biases and preconceptions.

That’s a fair point and I agree. But you should also apply the same rules when trying to present the killing of civilians as such a civilised, sanitised and good minded process.

The statistics suggest it’s a bloody mess:

So the RAF has bombed some oilfields, in order to reduce Daeash’s income, that they couldn’t have bombed yesterday due to being the wrong side of an arbitrary line in the sand.

Aye, and if a few civilian oil workers happen to get blown to chunks by our precision guided British values – that’s just tough.

I can’t find the whole speech but here’s the final 1:24 of Benn. Corbyn looks distinctly grumpy by the end

As a supporter of an extremist group who believes in the killing of civilians to further their aims – I’m sure you’re elated tonight.

So are we going to start calling other countries the So Called People’s Republic of China, the Alleged Islamic Republic of Iran, the Purportedly United Kingdom?

It’s daft. Kind of thing you’d expect from a seven year old.
Why not just call them smell faces or something?
And while we’re into correct labelling – Britain isn’t great and it’s certainly not united.

So the do nothing scenario is no better than the cocked up military approach at this point and our hands are just as bloodied.

It’s scary that this is the level of argument. With no rational or reasonable explanation as to what bombing will achieve, the main justification is simply ‘we can’t do nothing’.

It’s like a discussion over how to tackle a kitchen fire. Should we pour fire on it or just leave it burn because we can’t do nothing.

Yes of course. Horribly, civilian casualties are inevitable. If nothing is done, they’re also going to mount up, inexorably, under the brutality of IS.

Can you explain what makes you morally superior to somebody who supports ISIL? You both agree that killing civilians is justified for your beliefs.

We’re at war with these folks. Like it or not, and regardless of how we got here, that’s the way it is. Once one is in this situation, the best thing to do is crack on and get it done. The longer wars go on the worse they get in general.

Must be nice to live in your world. Everything is so simple. No time for fuss. Or thought. Or reason. Or rational. Crack on. Get it done.

Scotland is a nation of over five million people, with good natural resources and decent infrastructure. It would cope fine with not being controlled by upper class loons trying to cling on to a crumbling British empire.

Interested in these. I’ve not ventured much off Taff trail.
I’m scared of going down trails that my bike won’t handle and I’ll be stranded and have to call out air rescue or something,
