Renton you need to stop reading too much and try a bike. £3000 is a lot of money to be making a decision on a forum. Just try some and take 2 demos if you have to. I’d suggest some of the options might be overbiked depending on the riding you are doing as well.

Watched Apostle last night (netflix exclusive).

Bit wickerman, bit general horror. Probably a 7/10.

raybanwomble haven’t your gripes been dealt with already, rather brilliantly it seemed, by cotic?

Renton given your record of changing bikes, i’d suggest a decent test on any you choose. You liked your old orange 29er didnt you? That should be easy to demo. Cotics also easy. Bird available to hire at Swinley etc.

Last frame with a stuck seatpost I used plumbers freeze spray and it saved the thomson post and was relatively stress free. Well worth it for circa £10

Going to need a rear wheel,

For a 29er, should be peanuts. New or second hand.

    Rear Mech

Again, if 10 speed, should be able to get a new or very good deore or slx for a tenner.

    Dropout screws

Droput screws must be non-one off? Take it to a DIY shop. Or ask On One?

    Front Brake

Chain reaction were chucking our M395 for £20. Bike discount.de about the same.

I’d replace what you have. And if nothing else, you will sell that bike for more than the cost of fitting those.

Comment above about fitting bits bought elsewhere. My two decent LBS will do this no problem. I think most LBS would. I would expect to pay a premium though. My LBS and all nearby  seem to stock small range of stuff that either people will buy as they want it in a hurry or a casual would buy for ease of shopping in a shop. Do any LBS have say a range of drivetrain these days when they can order stock to deliver within  a day or two? Or just stock a few rear mechs etc. Genuine question.

That said, I do check with them first if I go down this route. Last bike I built from a direct seller frame and needed parts and I asked about them ordering it and they said it was easier for me to buy exactly what I wanted and they’d happily build it. I did buy a brand x dropper from them for about 15 or 20 quid more than CRC and happily paid their labour (of course)  but both of us were happy with that and I think they’re the best LBS I could ask for.

Its one of the nicest bikes I’ve seen but…

The S on the top tube is wonky no?

Ah yes weeksy, push fit BB. Mine was second hand so came with a race face and I run shimano cranks.

£315 from the onza site, less 10% if you subscribe to their mail list so £283.50 for a decent frame. Good deal to me.

Weeksy I have had a parkwood for 4 years and loved it but fancied a change and have gone for an Onza payoff. Still finishing swapping bits over, but it seems really nice. Think it comes stock at 130mm but I am running 120 forks on it.

My red bull footage is about 25 seconds per rider. Why are we missing most of the course?

I can find a reason for any of the men winning and be happy for them, but I’d like Gwin to cement his status as a legend especially after such a season of bad luck.

Really hope it’s same weather throughout

If you pay by PayPal and collect in person there’s no proof of delivery. That’s a classic scam. If collecting refund them and ask for cash

Pick up only keeps prices down as its a limited market. So then sending a courier is not on I’d say. Also pick up only is stress free for these exact reasons. They see the bike and you shouldnt get grief as they inspected it pre paying. .

A  courier you put yourself out waiting. And are they picking up a bike unwrapped and unpackaged? If not then no. Refund and repost. People are ignorant.

Copper grease would be fine. Maybe others are unlucky, but i do mine up tight and they stay that way without loctite. I’d probably use some if I had some, but I don’t and once on, I forget about them.

They’re great pedals, reckon you’ll like them.

    Best pedals ever.

I never loctite mine, once you use them in winter it’s hard to get them out again anyway. I just dip a bitof grease on them. Never had any come loose on 3 x pairs of nanos over 6 years or so.

I reckon greasing each pin it took about 10 minutes to get my pedals ready and on the bike and I am painfully slow at those things.

That NS bike it quite short reach wise though isnt it? Especially compared to a Tarn

Deedar 799 at planet x is a good deal

Not worth repairing and definately dead.

I’d look for a parkwood as most parts will port over and should get a frame for 50-60 quid.

Interesting about the whyte. Same height here maybe half inch taller and the whyte one of few bike that actually fit well

The se4 is a superb tyre. I have a 2.3 I think and love it. Think its an ideal size

Same issue here and struggling also to find brake levers that are small. Have some Hoy kids v brake levers on his mountain bike, which have really small reach, but the u brake levers are a fair way away from the bars.

Separate issue but if you can find levers that are smaller, might make the issue easier? And if you do find levers let me know what/where!

What hub size? On one had some good wheels with wtb i25 rims and xd driver for 99 quid a while back 142 rear 15 front non boost

Haldon blue (short) and green easy and fun. Blue is about 4 miles think. It’s all fireroad type riding. Can do on a hybrid.

Drive to Exeter and ride on the cycle path to double locks or turf locks for lunch or a beer. Easy and flat.

First person I’ve seen with seat slammed forward. I’ve mine as far back as possible and layback post but still wish it was a little longer.

Had mine 4 years this October. Great bikes.

The dowel wood with a cut along it, with glass/sand paper works a treat and is really cheap to do.

Drivetrain and finishing kit will port as will brakes. Worst case is wheels and seat post?

    But not like or like

If you are after 650b there are loads of cheap decent wheels around in 142 width.  I know cause it took me a while to get some in 29er flavour as they were all 650b!
