Suits him but looks like a size down might fit better

It is constant 2.8 throughout the zoom but quality IMO whilst OK at 2.8 improves as you stop the apperture down. Most lenses would do this though, f5.6 or 8 being best quality region. I have a 3ft x 2 ft photo on my kitchen wall I too with it and cropped so its pretty decent.

Its Nikon fit is all I know. with hood bag and probably box too.

Will get it out later to look into the HSM and Macro stuff.

I used it for wedding photography (part time stuff to fund my mountain bike habit) doing 3 or 4 a year

my wedding web site, so OK I never said I was a web gurru…

and this was my main lens for 2 years until I sold my F2.8 80-200 monster Nikon lens and bought an 18-200 VR lens. That kind of took over the lot but I kept the 18-50 in case the 18-200 broke.

SP60 ?(speeding on a motorway) on the M6 at 7am Sumday morning in 2001. No speed indicated on the fine.

Me and my FiL on our way to Donnington for the World Superbikes in my Saab Turbo.

Took the points and paid the fine, it was a fair cop…..snapped their hand off actually as I was well over a ton so thanked myself lucky for not being banned.

Not ashamed as the road conditions / traffic suited the speed IMO.

Firstly, most of you lot clearly spend way too much time in front of computers.

But, from some of the serious ones….

    A watch?

got an Omega Seamaster watch so don’t need / want another

No point in wasting £200 (personally if I was in your situation, I’d rather receive nothing than a gift that you don’t really need/want!).

I keep telling her that too!

    17 seconds with Girls Aloud?

    Anyone got their phone number?

Q, I’ve never met anyone who knows about PE80 PE100 HDPE or MDPE. I bet you even know about HPPE too?

And SDR as well. I am impressed!

    OK PE80 SDR17.6 then.

Brant, stem is 10mm lower these days as he saddle is now lower. Was lazy when the photos were taken. It is better DH with the stem a bit lower.

I also agree, the bars feel low because the top tube is short IMO, aids climbs though, I think?

mooman, I think a 4″ fork will be fine. I like my Summer Season best with my 130mm revelations as do a few others here.

Pikes were fun though in an unstoppable ride anything sort of way.

I have one, Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX. Its the second one I have had as the first was not very good. I took it back to Jacobs and we did a test on it. The first was not good at f2.8 but the other was much better. hey let me swap so I ended up with a “good” one. They said they couldn’t really tell but the difference was clear to me.

Probably best to buy from a shop then me thinks rather than on line.

They did admit later that they had had similar problems with Sigma lenses. Basically poor quality control.

Focusing is efficient (on my one) and its fine throughout the apperture range but quality drops off at f2.8.

Yours for 200 delivered. mint. boxed (probaly be able to find it), and with the bag thing for it.

If you bite the tip of your tongue off, it will grow back.
    and the phrase:
“Just don’t bite off more than you can chew” came about from this bizzar fact as if you bite too much off, it won’t grow back….

If you don’t clench your ring piece when you jump into a swimming pool, you can fill your ar5e up with water and drown.

Thankfully its a reflex action to clench.

Mavic 729 rims, folding Kenda nevegal DTC tyres, BMX tubes from Asda, the right amount of Stans no holes stuff a compressor, bucket of soapy water and about an hour a wheel to fit and slosh the stuff about. Job’s a good’un.

Not pumped them up for 3 months.

People said the Kenda’s wouldn’t have it too.

search U tube for Ghetto tubeless. do what the chinese looking guy does

Should add, I F**king love my 456 Summer Season.

Slack head angle makes it brill down steep things but it climbs superbly, without really needing to wind the forks in etc.

Mine with Pikes on 456 Summer Season

Same with Revelations. I think i prefer it with Revelations on to be honest so they are now back on it.

Good news, as I hoped and thought, they answered my email saying they would pay but thought 7 quid was a bit steep. anyway, I sent it along with a copy of their email and put it on standard parcels for 4.20.

    I am deeply saddened.

I’m with Ton on this one having very long legs.. My taller mate can’t even reach the bottom pedal stroke on my bike when I pull the saddle up for road type stuff.

As such I need a fairly high saddle or my knees hit my elbows so it stands to reason my steerer is a tad longer and so a few spacers beneath the stem etc.

Sadly bike shops don’t realise this.

IMO its better to have a longer steerer anyway. At least the buyer can play about with the stem height and spacers above / below and then possibly take it back to have the steerer trimmed….

Have lots of people been ripped off recently?

I have bought plenty of things in the past and never been ripped off or even unhappy with the purchase, from s/h rear mechs to full sus frames.

I have coil Pikes & coil Revelations.

Revs were fine on my 456 summer season but as I also had Pikes they went on it for a bit too.

The Pikes were noticeably heavier. I didn’t notice any additional stiffness that you should get from the maxel but they did give me more confidence, mentally.

Pikes now back on the Enduro, Revs back on the 456.

With the riding you mention, stick with the Revs.

I always buff my helmet these days, keeps my thinning bonce warm in winter and stops sweat dripping into my eyes in summer.

Can’t say I have ever noticed it being smelly but then again, I do own soap and a shower and have a good wife with a washing machine!

Took my Pikes off my hardtail on Sunday and can’t say I notices and scoring.

Can’t see it being an issue if it did. It’s not likely to eventually cut through is it!

Stans is great, I snipped the tip of the lid off when I first got som, left a hole about 1.5mm diameter and so started squirting it out into the little red cup you get and it sealed itself!

    Amazing them micro particles.

I bet if you popped a puncture under a microscope it would look just like Matalan’s doors opening in the best sale they ever had, with all the fat lasses trying to cram into the door at once!

    719’s.

I am rather large in frame and rode 717’s for a number of years. The rear got a bit of a bashing but stood up well to hardtail riding down Innerliethen DH course on plenty of occasions last year. Quite a few snake bike punctures though.

717’s will be ok IMO but you could do better. I am amazed at their abilty to stay in decent condition with the hammering I gave them (717’s that is)

Now on 729’s WOW are they bombproof!

I have had terrific success with Ghetto tubeless! Kenda surprise tyres, 20″ BMX tubes, 729 rims, bottle of Stans.

Watched the Utube vid and off I went.

Pumped them up 3 months ago, they leaked a bit (bubbles told me) so I swished some more and since then not felt the need to pump tem up at all.

Currently got about 20PSI in them.
