Yeah you can ride them if you can find them. Plenty of stuff to ride down there, the 7 Stanes, Gypsy Glen, Cademuir forrest, the ‘golf’ side of Innerleithen. Some brilliant riding round that area, hence why I’m never really away from it.

I just went with High Roller II’s EXO’s with DH tubes in them. No punctures. And I was mocked by all the tubeless blokes I’d get loads of punctures. Me: none. Tubeless: five. Pow!

Had 160 55’s on it and now a set of very tired Lyriks at 160. Just for the hell of it. Never caused any problems when climbing and an absolute hoot on the way down.

Depends on how cold. The last few months I’ve had the tights on under my baggies for commuting and off ride they’ve been there too the last few rides as it’s been bloody freezing. I like cosy.

I would, might as well be safe than sorry. I wear them most time back home now as well after going through a year of ripping the skin off my knees…

This still going on? Take the money and get on with a new bike. It’s only worth what someone wants to pay. That’s a good price, take it. The longer you hang on to the bloody thing wanting more the more the price will reduce. Frame is four years old after all! Take the cash.

Go grab a ride of a Pivot Mach 6. Had mine for about 9 months now and of course I’ll say it’s the best bike I’ve had, expected of course. But it is! Weighs in at 27-28lbs, 650b, 160mm up front, stiff frame and my fav DW link. Raced it at King and Queen of the hill, rattled it round the Alps last September, climbs brillantly and is such a hoot at bouncing back down again. Superb bike and can’t reccomend it enough. I’ve not had a loads of bikes, but it’s the first one I’ve had where I just don’t want to stop riding it, never sems to tire me out. Which is good.

I went 650b last year as I figured it’d be daft to stay with 26 as nobody is really sticking with them and didn’t want to buy 26 gear that would be worth fack all pretty soon. I know a lot of folk have issues with it being forced on them (understandable), but I was in a position where I needed to replace pretty much everything anyway, so did. Love the bike, have no regrets.

Why ask, just do. I include my commute miles. Can be 6 miles or 2 miles. I’m a sad **** who just likes to see how many miles I do in a week. :mrgreen:

@renton I bough a Pivot Mach 6 and I bloody love it. How does it compare, well I do think it’s better than my 5 Spot (and I loved that bike, in fact both I had) but difficult to say it’s better because of yada yada as there is almost 5 years of difference in terms of age, design etc, not a fair comparison. One was alu and the Pivot is carbon fibre, so it’s lighter, stiffer etc.

But over all I’m faster on the Pivot, it does carry its speed better and its an absolute hoot to ride. The reason I looked at the Mach 6 is its a DW link like he 5 spot and I’m a big fan of DW links.

But, as always, you gotta test test test! I I tested it, fell for it, bought it.

Pointless question. Ignore all that is said and go try and demo some full suss bikes and see what YOU think about them. I have both and love both. Only you will know what you prefer/want/works for you, no one else.

Well, I ride a lot down that way as well and the Mach 6 is (for me) superb round there. Rattles down the steep stuff brilliantly (and some of that is STEEP) and is a superb climber, like I said, best bike I’ve ever had. Dunno how tall you are, but you can through a leg over it sometime if you fancy it. I got it from Billy Bilsland Cycles in Glasgow, awesome folk and sorted me out with the demo bike etc.

If you looking to spend that sort of money, defo have a look at the Pivot Mach 6. Best bike I’ve owned (but of coursed, I would say that) and is an absolute hoot to ride. Used for an Enduro race this year and it was a total blast in The Alps the following week. I got a demo bike for a weekend back in Feb, so demo bikes available. Can’t recommend it enough.

Liked LOTR. Hobbit was gash for me. Switched off the first one half way through on DVD, watched a bit of the second on a plane and was even worse and have zero interested in seeing the third. Loved the book, but said when it was first announced as a trilogy it was a bad idea as it’s a short book. But hey, they’ve made the cash.

Personally, I’m sick to death of way too much CGI, super hero, bad arrives, bad guy wins, good guys then win back then high fives all round. Pish. Unless it’s Team America.

Been watching so many more films with stories, good acting, as little CGI as needed or that isn’t needlessly splattered all over the screen just for the sake of it. Use it, but not for the sake of willy waving.

I was 2×9 on last two bikes and now have one with 11 and find it no harder. Climbs up steep stuff brilliantly.
