@jaffejoffer normally go with mates, but this year going on my own. Been away before and folk have turned up on their own for the weeks ride, so not a problem. Just depends if you’re shy!

You need to explore the steep UK a bit more

I agree. Ridden steeper stuff here than in the Alps. Alps is just longer and longer and longer…

Had the alu versions for a week in the Alps and riding for 6 days and were fine. Now have the carbon versions and have done long rides and yep, still fine! Apart from anything else… they look lush. 8)

Go the golf course side at Innerleithen.
Are the trails relatively easy to find?

If you go the right way and keep you’re eyes peeled you’ll see lots of trails diving in to the trees. Higher up is two crackers too. You’ll see the exit points on the way up.

Go the golf course side at Innerleithen. Mucho steep fun to be had there and some superb trails. Plenty to chose from!

Cademuir Forrest is going to be closed for tree felling till end of July I think, best stay away from that part I’d say.

    From Forestry Commission Scotland:
“The tree felling works at Cademuir Forest are starting today and will be ongoing until the end of July 2015 (7 days/week). The area being clearfelled is the Cademuir Hill part of the wood (roughly from the summit down to the middle road) so the 2 natural mtb descents (used in the K&Q) from the summit won’t be accessible and much of the Pilots Trail walk will also be closed for the duration of the works. Access up from the Owl carpark will also be restricted. These closures are for the publics own safety – the harvester has a ~200m chainshot risk zone and ~100m risk zone when felling the trees (and they are big trees up there) – the impact of being hit by falling tree and also chainshot can kill. We’ve marked the mtb descents and the contractors are going to do their best to avoid damaging them but this will be harder to do for the descent off the back (heading down towards the quarry) which is on steeper slopes.”

I’ve got a Mach 6, it’s about 27lbs. That’s light enough for me! Dunno if I’d want a bike that light.

Think you’ve answered your own question really. Sounds like it could be a waste of money.

Innerleithen fun. Found a new trail. Only crashed on it three times, but it was a hoot. Finally feel like the old mojo is showing it’s face again. I like this. Very much. Hope it stays around.

Mate was trying out a Shorty today, he was loving it.

Innerleithen was snowy and icy on Sunday, but about 95% was all rideable. Only the top of Minch Moor did I have to push through deep snow. The lower stuff on the DH trails were all fine and riding brilliantly. If you can find the enduro race tracks, they were a right hoot on Sunday!

    Indeed I was Northwind.

Inners was very snowy up top. Had to push the last part of the climb and first part of the descent. But everything else was fine. Icy and snow, but all doable. As Northwind says, off piste stuff all fine and riding superbly. Had a right larf on it all today.

And hello Northwind, you cycled past me as I stood at the start of Cresta.

Mates were at GT yesterday and said what everyone else said, snow and ice but ridable.

Been using a Pivot Mach 6 since June last year. 160/155mm. It’s a hoot. Love it.

Loved Skyfall. Heard QoS was a PoS but actually quite enjoyed it. I love the early Connery ones and thought Timothy Dalton was brilliant, shame it didn’t work for him, he was what Bond is all about. Cold, killer and arrogant.

Moore? No thanks. Just couldn’t take him seriously. At all.

Ideally I didn’t want to wait 4 months. But that was the ONE I wanted. Could’ve had it sooner, but didn’t like the other colour options out the three available. Was lucky as had my Dialled Alpine to ride while I waited mind you.

Waited 4 months for my last new bike last year. Everything was available… bar the frame. Was a long wait, but bike shop were ace and knew when I ordered it could be a longish wait. More than worth it though. Love the bike.

Been using 2×9 for years and then spec’d the new bike with SRAM XX1. Bloody love it personally! Hasn’t stopped me getting up any of the climbs I do, plenty gears for pointing down the way, raced with it and used it for a week in the Alps last year. One of the best bits of kits I’ve used. It is expensive, but any other new bike I would choose in the future will have it too.

I’d go for then Range for the shock alone, know two people who’ve had grief with the inline shocks. One was quoted ‘they are shit’ by a shock tuning company. Both were replaced with the DB shock. Mate had first ride on it yesterday and stated ‘like night and day, the inline is garbage’.
