People ALWAYS read to much into the type of riding. I am just interested in what is the better bike.

One of the dumbest comments to STW I’ve read.

Innerleithen for sure. Loads of stuff there and Kirroughtree is just ace.

orena45 – nope, none at all. The bits that attach to the door seals are all under the rubber seals for the glass so it causes absolutely no problems at all. No extra wind noise or buffeting around the window. It’s been great, love it.

This is the Thule one I have on my MK1 Cooper. It’s perfect. Been on there for almost two years. So much less faff than a boot mounted one I used to have.

    No.

terrible idea. Always protect rub areas as cables can wear right through a frame. Polyurethane is much more resistant to abrasion than any frame material.

No it’s not. Have no cables rubbing and no helitape on the fame. It’s 2.5 yeas old and no wear marks. Sorted.

Couple of bits here and there. Thats all you need. Or get what I have, a raw frame. It has no heli-tape on it at all. Boom. Sorted and stops the pointless over pampering…

Wouldn’t want that many bikes. 3 is enough for me.

This all on top of it being the best hardcore trail bike money can find!

    No it’s not.

I’d go SLX simply because they don’t have the tacky looking chrome finish.

    Mr Cynical in the Alps.

One of Mr Cynical’s pictures. Me at the front.

Squamish, one of the best days riding I’ve done.

Making that poxy road bike the same colour scheme as the amazing Porsche 917 is sinful and wrong.

Crazy thing I do is once i build a bike, I go and ride it. Don’t know why I do that, I could be online looking at bike parts I already have…

I think £800 is a bargain personally. I’m going with The White Room again this year and I reckon all in it’ll be £750-800. And for that you get a week that has you picked up at the airport, an ace place to stay, guided round utterly amazing trails, all gorgeous food cooked for you, top notch cake, free beer and wine and then dropped off back at the airport. Superb!

I’ve never needed them TJ, so never looked. I know how you feel about Hope brakes. I feel the opposite. Simple really. You use them and like them. I’ll never have a another set and dislike them. I think it’s known as a difference of opinion.

Hope brakes and the Alps? That’s why I have Shimano brakes.

Ae really is only for serious bikers, its tough on the bike and rider with a few nice technical climbs.

Really? Serious bikers? I just found it a tad boring. Maybe I’m not serious.

I’m not a big fan of Spooky Wood either. I’d do Innerleithen over Glentress. And certainly both way over Ae, found it guff.

so yes – yo do need help if you would rather spend more money for an inferior product and waste resources while doing so.

Spend £45 and end to fix and old pair of Hopes Minis?! Or a wee bit more for vastly superior, newer brakes?! Your the one needing help here TJ.

Must have done a different Burma Road route I did then. It was ace.

I either buy it all at once or buy what I can afford at the time and then throw it all together when I have all the parts.

Burma Road is a great route. Two big climbs and some fantastic descents.
