Yeah saving for the Sony a55 or a33 might be an idea, looks very good for action shots

Sony a33 is cheaper and is same but 7 fps instead of 10 (a55) and 14MP instead of 16MP (a55).

For the money the FZ38 is a good buy theres no doubt. If your budget is rigid its certainly a good option.

The Olympus should last you a lot longer though (should you get an itch). As you will be able to add other micro 4/3 lenses, or buy legacy lenses.

AMD tends to be better value quite often.. Yeah Intel is often faster.. but is the extra £££ for their CPU really giving you a justifiable/siginificant increase.. probably not

Its a good site, for a quick comparison.. Im not sure how they arrive at the IQ number though.. but most of the other comparisions are simple to do just by looking at the paper specs

Oh and the K-x has in-body image stabilisation. Great for legacy lenses.

The lens system is an important factor. Bodies change and can be replaced.

If you already own loads of brand A lenses, it makes sense to stick with brand A unless you are made of money. Think carefully which brand of lenses you want to use. Qs like will you have enough money for Sony glass? – its good but pretty expensive options relative to others.

For starting from scratch, for 400 quid with the 2 lenses and that body. I think the K-x is a bloomin bargain. As said above, if you can play with one in a shop it will help. If it feels fine to you it’ll certainly trump the others for specifications and it seems a good value lens system.

I dont own any pentax gear or work for them (ive had panasonic for awhile and got a tough sony compact on the way). But I sure like the look of the K-x and new K-5 (a monster).

If you don’t need many features, and are just concerned with audio quality and battery life (an mp3 player right?) the Sonys are great. No messing around with silly software either, drag and drop.

Pentax K-x will blow anything away at that price range

Do the care home and study, take a couple of Open Uni modules..

Sony TX5 if it needs to be able to survive some abuse.

I do find it ok and do have the sensor.

Ive perhaps only had one situation where ive had the sensor save me, I dont think its a hard car to judge when manouvering.

Cant say ive ever had a visibility issue. Mine is the 2010 model FWIW.

I considered this car, but got a volvo c30 1.6d on scrappage.

The petrol civic does a pretty decent mpg and is also worth a look.

Ye software doesnt bother me – I only need core features. I prob only need 2 apps. No need for an I-bowel-movement tracker. Camera,16GB storage, free maps and USB on go is a big plus for N8.

What bothers me more is the extra 100 quid and less (I assume) durable casing on the N8.

Ive never had a touchscreen phone or anything like that. Tempted by this or the N8 which also has gorilla glass.

Some of the other Moto phones have gorilla glass too, so does the Nokia N8. But the Defy looks tougher in the other areas ontop of this.

GH2 will prob be eye wateringly expensive (for a non-DSLR).

That E-p1 deal is insane. I’d prob get that and save the ££££ over the panasonics (this coming from a Panasonic G1 owner). Put the money into something else, like a lens or just save it (haha madness in this economy I know).

Although the NEX 3 is 329 on currys.
