I don't shave, I trim with a number 1 or 2 all over. Not quite so close down there though, but it does get a trim. I'm rather hairy….

    Newcastle, Co. Down, NI.

We've had very cold and dry weather for last two months, little or no snow at sea level. First time we've had more than a dusting. It's about 8" in the garden!

G-Spot as main bike?! Personally I'd have a proper DH bike like a Giant Glory, Sunday, Socom etc to enjoy the DH trails, then a beefy Stiffee or 5" trial bike with strong wheels and tres to do the long days out.

They are amazing bikes. Only ridden mine four times but love it. It weighs 39lbs, and that is with stupidly heavy Travis forks and 729 rims. It will be 37lbs by the end of the month. It's a kinda strange, innocent bike. Plods along single track nicely, even goes up hill quite well. Then point it down a stupidly steep and technical Dh track and the bloody thing eats it up for breakfast. Came up short on a gap jump over a ditch… hardly noticed the impact. Worth every penny. Just need shot of the forks and rims and stick a lighter spring on the shock… heaven…

Balls. Looks like the Mega Avalanche is going to be harder than usual… with the seat down 🙁

Just bought a Socom second hand… did not want to see this thread!!!! And I've been running the seatpost quite high up in the frame… no anymore!!!

I'd suggest running a telescopic seatpost… with the lower half all the way down in the frame.

well, essential amino acids and fats are ones that the body cannot produce itself and relies on food as a source… but I wouldn't drink your bubble bath…

I'd speak to the Flow guys again and see if they can fit you in on an accom basis only. Then just get flights ot Geneva. So a\t least you'd have a place to stay but also meet up with other bikers.

What are you thinking of heading out? We're heading there 11th-17th July, some of us are flying, some of us are driving. Got chalet sorted out (may have spare room, but not sure yet). Can't wait 🙂

My friend Joanne stayed with Flow two years ago in Aloe D'Huez and had nothing but praise…

A lot of controversy over them. There is no real testing or real evidence about FF cycle helmets.

I face planted in france at close to 30mph. No **** controversy about that. It worked. The chinbar did it's job. It doesn't absorb, it deflects. It hurt like hell and trashed the lid, but I'd be even uglier now if it wasn't for it.

Oh, get one that fits. Giro Remedy happens to fit me. I can easily wear it all day. Get the carbon version. Light, cool.

But FF for XC? Learn to ride.

Great timing… just picked up a Pheasant last night (from a shop, not the side of the road)

I intended to roast in in oven covered with bacon. And was hoping to use the leftovers for a terrine I'm making for the weekend.

I've never eaten or cooked pheasant. Is the cooknig that critical? If it's over cooked does it go all dry? Is it worth jointing it and cooking it like rabbit?

Spring is just round the corner, go for a highroller!

Oh, I find a 16g CO2 cartridge far more effective than my local garage's air compressor. Seems to have a much higher flow. I know the CO2 reacts with the latex, so after inflating and bed seating, deflate to about 5psi, pump up to 40 with air, deflate, inflate to 60psi, spin and shake, quick ride, sorted.

Aye, if I go, hope to bring both bikes. I'll never win so may as well do it a bit differently.

Top third in the main Mega? Good going. I've qualified for the Mega twice and promo once, usually come about half way. I'm not fit enough. I was about 10th in my qualifying heat until I had to stop for a puncture at the DH section past the lift station. Gutted. Still qualified for Mega though. By one place lol! Past the guy on the last corner into Oz. Muppet 🙂

Bullit, you''ll have far more fun. There are some great DH tracks in the area. Will be more fun on the Bullit.

But as long as you have big brakes and DH wheels and tyres 🙂

No flamejob, you must just be a skinny runt and slow 😉

I'm 13st without armour etc so my heavily built 35lb Reign does the job well. I'd like to give it a shot on a HT.

I hated that long slog past Alpe D'Huez. I'm sure it cost me at least 30 places due to lack of XC fitness.

The Mega course needs to be more flowy in the lower section. Needs to be more like the quali track. The first half is sweet of course.

Looking forward to my fourth year in a row.

My mate has gone through three of those XT hubs and I've done one. I'd jump to Hope without thinking twice. Or get a proper pre 2008 XT hub. The new design is pants.

Had a great time, thanks everybody, lovely to meet you all. (esp nbt and Bunnyhop for the fab hospitality!). I'm glad I didn't take anybody out on any of the descents. I told nbt there was a reason why I should always go first…

I honestly can't remember many names-faces but look forward to another ride some time next year.

    UK/Ireland…

Fern Alley in Kilbroney, NI. 400mt down the side of a big, steep hill. Rocks, sheep, drops, whin bushes. Fantastic.

    EU…

The DH trail from Les Duex Alps to Venosc. Great, tight, drift corners, steep and fast, super flowey, big braking. Big adrenalin rush.

    I might be there 🙂

Depends if I die in the Lakes at the hands of Solamanda the day before or not….

Go to your LBS, should be able to get one of those valve caps that doubles as a core tool. Mine cost 50p!!

    something like this:

Plus you will always have it with you when on the bike!!!

I'd say 24 hours at room temperature and 48 hours at fridge temp.

    Was nice knowing you 😉

    It's because it's a Fiat.

    It can only get worse.

If you've had those problems from start and it's under warrenty, i'd try and get the dealer to take it back!!

What's your favourite Chris Moyles thing then Conor?

The fact that he annoys and irritates people that don't get him 🙂

And I don't listen to R1 for the music. Nobody does. R&B shite.

I like him. A lot. But unlike you lot, I'm under 30.

Agreed. Best time of year for wild life, they are all out busy shaggin' or gathering food. Lost count of number of red squirrels, deer, hares and pheasants I've seen in the last month. If you ever get some trail kill, let me know how it tastes 😉

Cheers stoner. Unusual offer, but go for it!!!

MrNutt. I have a nice cast iron griddle and a nice big Le Cruset pot. I don't like thier frying pans or pots though.

    AndyP… don't get it….

Don't like Non-stick. Don't see the need in a saucepan. Not durable, it will come off eventually. I use steel utensils. Some foods don't react well or cook as well on non-stick (e.g. scrambled eggs). Oh, and I'm hard on my equipment!

The Bourgeat look good but a lot of money. Think I'll go with the Meyer.

Stoner, saw them online. Look good, but with my style of cooking I'm best avoiding teflon. I have the Meyer Anolon hard anodized frying pan, it;s fantastic, going to see if I can hunt down a smaller version for the flat.

    This looks the ticket though?

CG, I do. But I carry it off and look good. It's subtle pink as well. I wouldn't wear a pink t-shirt though. I go as far as a white shirt with pink stripes or a light pink shot sleeved shirt.

Yeah, but when your forks have shat all their oil and you have no rebound, €120 to service a set of 36s and fit new seals worth paying!!!

I wouldn't bother doing the event. All the trails are mapped and way marked so may as well avoid the crowds and ride them in your own time. That's what we did. There are loads of good bike shops in Morzine so don't worry about bringing loads of spares. But driving is good craic. I've down it for the last three years from Northern Ireland. Double the journey you guys have to do from S. England…
