Seems a massively inflated price – it’s only $80 in the states! Although they do say it’s GoPro themselves setting the pricing, not Dogcam sports. I guess they think people will still buy it at that price.

As long as the shipping isn’t too much, I think £50 from the states is a decent price for it

I’m sure if you moved a spacer from drive-side to non-drive-side, you’d be fine – effectively shift the whole crank assembly 2.5mm

I’m sure somebody else will be along in a minute to back me up/discredit me….

You can certainly buy one: LINK although I imagine you might be able to construct one yourself, maybe using the display case bit that comes with it

I’ve just bought myself a GoPro HD.

Did a fair bit of research, and it was always between the Contour HD and the GoPro. At the end of the day, i’m more concerned with the quality of the footage rather than how it looks on, and the two were very comparable.

However, the variety of mounting systems, the extra functions (still shots, timed shots etc.) and, ultimately, the price, all pushed me towards the GoPro.

Both cameras deliver excellent footage, from what I’ve seen, so it really is up to how much you can spend. Those are certainly the two to choose between though!

Oh, and as a lot of the video hosting sites compress the footage, over on Vimeo you can download the raw footage for a better view of the quality. HTH

I had a very similar problem recently on my MTB. Bought a chainset s/h. whether it was a bit knackered already, or whether I somehow c*cked up the installation, after a little while there was a bit of play in the non-drive side crank. Eventually, it actually came off whilst i was riding, luckily not too far from home. Turned out that the splines on the crank arm were worn away, and weren’t holding the crank on no matter how tight the pinch bolts/preload cap were done up. Seemed to give a bit of side to side play like you mention, maybe check that there’s still a decent amount of “tread” left in the splines

I went to Serre Chevalier two years ago over New Years, and it was great – stayed at the UCPA centre too. It is right at the bottom of the slopes, really near some of the lifts to get up the hill quickly in the morning. Being a skier, I didn't really notice any problems with the lift system. Snowed a couple of times during the week we were there, despite it being VERY cold (I think -27 was the coldest it got).

In comparison, went to Chamonix (again with UCPA) a couple of years before that, and wasn't impressed. I'm not a fan of having to take a half hour bus journey to get to the lifts, and because we were unlucky with snowfall, non of the smaller ski areas were really enough to spend a whole day in, but you couldn't get anywhere else with out taking 60-90 mins (lift down as no snow of lower slopes, bus to new area, lift up). I personally much preferred Serre to Chamonix

This[/url] is a decent place to start – just an introduction to the basics (how the game works, hand selection, bet sizing etc.)

As for playing for free, most online poker sites will have an area for "play" money, which is what you're describing. However, people don't tend to play the same way when it's not for real money as when it means something, so it may not be the best way to learn strategy, but a good way to learn the mechanics of the game (blinds/antes/betting order)

    HTH, good luck!

For more info, here's a photo of the crank pushed full onto the axle, showing the gap at the end:

    UPDATE

Got hold of another preload cap thingy, went about re-installing the crank, first of all using all three spacers, as suggested for a 68mm shell. Definitely haven't overtightened any of the bolts, but all done up pretty snugly. However, same problem seems to be happening – there seems to be some sideways play in the crank, so much so that even after a quick 2min spin around the block, dropping off a kerb or two, the crank already seems to be coming away from the bottom bracket.

So. It occurs to me that sideways play means that the crank doesn't have enough of the axle in it, so it can wobble free. Without the end cap on, i'd say there's a 1-2mm gap from the end of the axle to the end of the splines on the crank. Is that normal? or should it be almost flush with the end of the axle? I thought about trying to just do everything up a bit tighter, but i don't want to ruin another end cap!

Yeah, definitely don't have that part labelled 9. I'll get down my LBS, see if they have any knocking about – other than that, seems i've probably been doing the pinch bolts up a bit too tight.

    Thanks all

little plate that goes between the two bolts

Hmm – don't appear to have anything that fits that description – they're Deore LX cranks, should they have one of these plates? There's nothing in the gap that the bolts go through

Yeah, i did tighten up those pinch bolts – can you overtighten those too? I had them done up pretty tight, i thought!

I'd be interested if you were planning a weekend ride sometime – I haven't got a decent set of lights, so can't really make night rides.

Out of interest, where do you normally go?

As long as you're in the UK, you should be able to stream all the games live from the BBC sport website

Only by buying a new adjuster knob – Here from CRC

It should've read top cap – the adjuster dial just turns a hex bolt underneath it, so if the inside of the adjuster dial has rounded off, it'll just spin on top of the bolt without actually turning anything.

That's what happened to mine when it had cracked, it would'nt properly engage with the bolt and just spun in place
