I’ve worn Montane Featherlites over tights when running (OMM in Galloway, Brecon Beacons etc)and they’re OK, keep the wind off, don’t take up much space and are cheap.

I also had a pair of waterproof trousers from Primark or somewhere, fold up small but not in the slightest bit breathable. Really only to meet the rules and I figured if it was that bad that I needed to wear them I wouldn’t be running coz I was injured or whatever, so breathability wasn’t an issue.

I’m short sited, and had a cataract operation on one eye.

I had a lens fitted with a bit of distance correction, and it actually meant I could wander round without my glasses on. Most annoying part was having to pop the lens out of the RHS of my glasses for a few weeks until it had settled down and could get new glasses.

Then had to have glasses with a short-sighted prescription in the left, and a varifocal right. Eyesight was fine for running without glasses.

Since then my eyesight has been buggered (undiagnosed diabetes, despite getting a cataract) so cant help much more, but up until that point it was fine.

+2 +3 on the Osprey, Talon 22 here in the long back length. Longest ride with it has been 70+ miles and comfy.

Also got an OMM Marathon 35 which is possibly a bit longer, but might be too big for what you’re looking at.

    Garmin sale is pap.

Got a bit excited when I saw the email as I’m after a GPS, less so when I looked at the sale. Rest of its a bit crap too.

    Not great.

This might sound a bit weird, as I’m not an admirer, but the Queen.

Bear with me on this, not due to any Royalist fan-boi stuff, just because it would be really interesting to have a proper conversation (without Royal protocol etc) with someone from such a different background, brought up with that sense of duty etc.

Or maybe Ian Mackaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi, Discord etc).

Hang on, I might be missing something here. If its your brother in law, his wife is your sister.

Or he is referring to his wifes brother

    Oh yeah.

The Capitol Centre in a Cardiff is a really good example – it was the smartest bit of Cardiff for shopping but is now pretty much deserted. Newport’s even worse, almost everything’s shut there now.

Dunno if it’s rents or car parking though. Or what the answer is.

Medical/Academic Librarian. You need a Masters to get the job.

You could do it without one TBH. Although I do still use bits of my Masters, and having experience of being a uni student helps in the job.

So a degree is sort of essential I guess.

At work until 5, in a medical library. Students have gone home, not many hospital staff around.

    It’s very quiet.

Went to watch Oxford Welsh beat Irish with my old man, a dreadful game but I sort of enjoyed it.

Watched the first half of Wales v Oz in the Kassam (which incidentally has a shite projector TV thing, hence leaving) then headed into town, but missed the rest of the match.

Which again I was short of pleased about as I didn’t see the end so I can pretend it didn’t happen.

They do my head in. Gave me blisters, somehow are really unstable (I start to lean if I stand on one leg). Look crap. Chavvy. Not really smart enough for work. I don’t like them.

    They were cheap though.

    Get it 🙂

Can I transfer Suffolk eBooks to my Kindle?

No. The Kindle is an Amazon product which is severely locked down. This means that we don’t know how to impose our own DRM on it.

Probably more to do with copyright licences, library lending privileges etc rather than “we don’t know how to do it”.

US based but a bit more info – it is about libraries though so not very exciting.[/url]

just out of interest – why do you post, then post again, and again without any other interaction from forum users?

My family are from Garnant/Ammanford/Betws. This is basically what its like trying to talk to them. They just keep going and don’t listen to what you’re saying.

I think it’s something in the water.

There’s loads of tips online but this one seems pretty good to me (please note, it’s not mine, and he’s a librarian but it’s good for all sectors)

If you’re skinny I reckon a medium would be ideal. I’m 6ft and not skinny, large is long enough in the body, and fits over a thin fleece/softshell easily.

Just put my size L on the kitchen scales, just under 200g.

BTW I’ve been chuffed with mine, packs properly small (a 2l dry bag is at least twice as big) and is usefully warm. Feels a bit fragile but is cheap enough that I’m not too worried. Worth keeping an eye on the site as they reduce them quite often.

Anyway, can anyone quantify the differences, or is this new bike effect?

In my case, it was new bike syndrome.

Strange, the bottom bracket is lower in relation to the hubs on almost all 29ers.

Sorry, I meant the front end feels taller.

Which I appreciate I could remedy with some flat bars and a lower stem, so is entirely due to my laziness as opposed to some part of 29er v 26er geometry.

I’ve got a rigid 29er, although don’t score too highly on the STW niche-o-meter as its got gears.

It was eye-opening as to how much better to ride it was than my old 26″ bike.

    Then the new-bike-itis wore off.

    🙁

It is different, my 29er feels a bit taller, and does roll over some things better, but on a normal, reasonably mixed off-road ride I don’t think there’s that much difference. Maybe if you were riding a DH track repeatedly or on some very specific terrain you’d really have a preference. Like needing a fatbike for sand dunes or something.

Tyre pressure and how knackered you feel is probably more noticeable TBH.

I’d probably buy a 29er next time, mostly so I only have to have one lot of innertubes, but not because it’s loads better.

Had surgery about 4 weeks ago and have just started running. Haven’t been able to run for 4 years so it’s pretty cool to be out again.

Bloody hard though, and a bit weird in that my brain still thinks it can run (not that I was ever that fast). However my body is not so keen, managed 13 minute miles for 4 miles yesterday, which is not much better than walking speed! Also having to experiment with monitoring/maintaining blood sugars again(I’m diabetic).

Still, better than nothing and will build slowly to avoid any injuries. Think I’m going to have to enter a 10k to give me something to aim for.

I think Singletrack is expensive to continue funding the the fighting, the unrest, the brutality, the sexism, the racism and ethnic cleansing.

I am quite baffled as to why the forum has been so eager to believe what is being said, without it making any sense?

As is always the case time will tell!

Edit: Sorry, should have put a 😉 in there as re-reading it it seemed like I was having a go at Kaesae, which I wasn’t.

Had a bi-lateral compartment release on my shins, so no riding for me for a few more weeks.
Was going to do the Trans Cambrian Way and SDW in August/Sept. Bit gutted but CES had meant no running for 3 years, so good long term.

I see a response there by Brailsford – which doesn’t really refute anything she said.

I suppose, but by refuting what she’s said are they calling her a liar? Maybe they feel it’s best for her to get it off her chest and leave it. This will be forgotton amongst the Gold medal headlines.

    colonelwax

I can understand why she’s a bit narked, must be gutting.

But we’ve only really got her version, she says she’s faster, Shane S just told her no ride etc. Not saying she’s wrong, but people can have very different versions of the same events due to there perspective.

Comments about the rider being sick are odd as Trott suffers with this at all her races?

Maybe she’s disrupted the team? The other 3 made a big point of how well they get on in their BBC interview.

Yep Drac, that’s what I thought. Wasn’t that cheap though, food in the restaurant places was crap. Maybe I’d have enjoyed it more if I’d taken my own bike.

Moaning about the rain/lack of rain, that it’s hot/cold, binge drinking, fighting, moaning/not moaning at the same time.

All of the above done in a polite way with a simmering undercurrent of aggression 😆
