Dragons game on Red button and couple of beers here in England, not quite the same as a warm up in the Riverside but I’m chuffed (and slightly amazed tbh) with a Newport win.

I’ve got a pair of these on M bars

Which have been ace, lock on at one end and handy groove for cutting. I did mine one “block” from the end with a Stanley knife but I’m sure you could chop ’em with a hacksaw for neatness.

not understanding the hate from the skateboarders, guess it’s like mtb v road, xc v dh, but there seems to be some genuine hate there rather than banter.

nah it’s banter, only reason it seems worse is that generally the rivalry is between young ‘uns, when it seems REALLY important.

And skateboarders are well grumpy and dismissive about anything that isn’t skateboarding. I’m still a bit disappointed in myself that I enjoy other things TBH.

Scooters have been banned from my local ramps, happy days.

I am a full on Guardian reading, hand-wringing, worry about offending people, PC do-gooder.

But I can’t get over my hatred of those stupid roller skates, there’s nothing “aggressive” about it, it’s stupid. get a skateboard. I’ve got a mental list of the derogatory terms for fruit-booters which I can’t shake off.

Sorry, reverted to my 15 year old self there, carry on and do what you want 😉

According to Endomondo, my top speed is 1615.7 mph. My legs were quite tired after that ride mind, so must be true.

Is it poor form for a bit of footie style chanting?

    “are you England in disguise?!”

I don’t watch much, but it’s on a lot, if not most of the time at home (if that makes sense).

I like watching TV but don’t seem to be able to find anything interesting, apart from sport. I think I’ve turned into my Dad.

Fair enough Zokes, suppose also it’s easy to feel a little bit smug that he proved a few people wrong (not aimed at anyone on here BTW)as they won. Could’ve been quite different.

Anyway, who cares, Lions test series win isn’t too shabby is it.

OK serious question, have any of the anti-Gatland lot changed their minds about him? Can’t argue with his success.

As a Welsh fan, the build up to yesterdays match reminded me of the last 6N game, opposition were favourites, ended up with a bit of a drubbing.

So is he some kind of mastermind at firing up teams for the big games, inspiring them to play at another level? Simple tactics that work with the players he’s got? Something else?

So, looks like Gatland’s ‘terrible mistake’ was not picking enough Welsh players in the 1 st two tests then?

    😉

I’m wondering.. maybe I can design a 20l or so bag that attaches to a rack top and seatpost (avoiding clearance issues) but I could give it a couple of shoulder straps in case the rack breaks…

Buy an Alpkit Gourdon and have a play, cheap enough to try it. Might be worth trying a Hunka bivi from them too to see how you get on before spending loads on a Gore/eVent one.

Proper awesome result James, massive well done!

So, can we look forward to seeing a TD race bike in the shops soon 😉

Ok, heres my opinon. This is based on my experience, which seeing as this is STW is FACT.

Anyway, after a break of 5 years from running I’ve started again. I’ve been running in some traditional style Asics, some minimalist-ish Nikes, and a pair of Merril trail gloves.

I’m starting to think I feel more difference from fit rather than thickness of cushioning. The Nikes have got not very much in the way of material on the toes, and the Merrils have got a big toe box and really narrow heel.

So for me, a flexible toe seems to be more important rather than the amount of drop.

TBH in the past I’ve run in Walshes, Inov8s, road shoes from proper running shops. I can’t say they ve been that different other than fit, so if I was you id just get some that feel comfy and just go for a run.

Unless you’re competitive the beauty of running is not really having to think about it or kit, and just doing it (sorry for the semi-nike quote)

Bit underwhelmed on first couple of listens, but it’s growing on me know.

They’re very definitely dad-rock now BTW (not a bad thing though, just a thing).

I lived in St Albans, and the Mrs family is in Harpenden and St Albans. They’re “nice”, but bloody expensive. And the friendliness level might be a bit of a shock compared to Shef (I’ve lived there too).

But that’s the South in general 😉

Don’t think I’d want to live in Luton or Dunstable. Wheathampstead looks OK, don’t know if it’s that good for single life. BTW I’ve been stopped from going in to the pubs in Harpenden and St Albans for wearing trainers, they’re mostly full of that sort of pub.

I’m 6ft so not that tall, but have a long back. I went for a 32 as the back is noticeably longer. use it for running and the bel’s in the right place rather than under my ribs.

Mate who’s 6’2ish hasa 25 and he says its a bit short for the hipbelt.

The 32 is quite a bit bigger though so the smaller size might be OK,if it’s less loaded.

Depends on what you’re doing I guess.

Salted Peanut & Caramel brownies made these a few times and have been popular with my victims.

I’d never made a cake before when I first tried them so must be easy enough.

I’ve reconsidered, and now chose Entombed Uprising, Metallica Death Magnetic, and probably some Converge album again.

    Right, I have two choices.

1 converge, concubine. Sounds like someone smashing your face in with 20 sledgehammers. But I’ve listened to it so much its reassuring.

Next is Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Carry on. Makes me feel like the past 30 years aint happened, and Im a content hippy

I’ve looked at my vinyl and CD collection (thats a phrase that I’d happily punch meself for saying) and the Black Flag logo is still winning, despite not being a metal band.

Pettibon interview in the latest Huck mag BTW

Yeah, I know Black Flag aren’t metal, but it is the best band logo. Ramones is up there for me.

sticking to my “not really metal” theme, how about:

    Entombed – Wolverine Blues
    Slayer – Reign in Blood

Not quite metal but heavier than most of the “metal” albums so far – Converge – Jane Doe

And this might be illegal but my favourite Metallica album is And Justice For All

It’s like me asking “what grips are good for carpal tunnel” compared to asking “how many sweets should I carry in my camelbak..”?

Not so simple really though is it? In your example, there could be a number of different grips.

And the answer to how many sweets is, obviously, loads. No argument.

Not much help but I put a Charge Spoon on my bike, first ride was 70 miles off road and it was fine. I’ve now got Spoons on all my bikes.

I wear proper Lycra, with thin baggies on top. I commute to work everyday on me bike as well, so I guess my arse is used to it (ooh err missus etc)

How cheap is cheap? I bought a Jansport backpack like this from TK Maxx for £20, funnily enough for days when I commute by BMX. Mine’s plain blue though, not checked.

Two main compartments and a pocket on the front, keeps locks seperate from clothes etc.

Sorry can’t help, but was looking at the 26″ version in the LBS window and wondered what it’d be like with MTB tyres.

So I guess I’m registering my interest too 😀
