My cx bike has a top tube 10mm shorter than my road bike. Used for racing only though.
    I’m 5′ 11″ and cx top tube 555mm – if that’s of any help.
Edit; Also run a 10mm shorter stem as well.

    Dogsby,
    More mentally challenged than hard!!
I’m hoping the main internals are sealed from the ports, but who knows?
Let’s hope your temporary glitch just stopped it accessing the maps on the memory card.
Great piece of kit tho’ – ‘boys and toys’ eh!
    Cheers.

    Dogsby,

Just been out on a four hour wet ride and the 800 had a fair soaking. Still working OK, but on lifting the flaps after (as Garmin recommend) noticed a few droplets of water around both the usb and sd ports, so moisture does indeed get past the rubber seals – even when correctly seated and closed. I also have the silicone case on mine, although I don’t think this offers any extra protection from moisture ingress.

Hope yours is still OK after drying out.

Good to hear all is OK. Hopefully panic over.
Also a fairly new 800 user and read your post with some trepidation!
Although mine has so far been OK despite a few wet rides.

    Yep! big thumbs up here.
Monday (Bank Hol) evening saw their summer sale, ordered frameset, dispatched Tuesday. Big box arrives Wednesday morning (one hour delivery slot notification from courier) containing very shiny frame and forks wrapped from head to toe in foam tape.
    Excellent Service.

I also use 42cm on road. I built up my cross bike with 44cm bars as I thought the extra leverage would be beneficial, but soon changed them back to 42 as they just felt too wide. Only use the cross for racing though.

MW – totally agree. Much safer for the recovery line/rider dropping back on the inside next to kerb.

    Just re-read the op’s question, and relates more to a Paceline rather than a Chain Gang. Is this any help;

This is how a chain gang works – the clue is in the name 🙂

Cheap as chips and only about £10 more than the included 8gb micro sd card. (even cheaper with 4gb card or cheaper still with no memory card).
Dezb of this parish uses one of these to record his hairy commuting escapades and the quality per pound seems OK.
A quick search of his history shows a few of his vids.
One downside though is they record in 5 minute blocks of video files on a continous loop so you loose a few seconds of action each time it saves data and resets.

I don’t think the whole scheme has been dodgy from the start. We run and administer our own scheme, which has HMRC approval, and seem able to avoid all, or most, of the pitfalls those using a third party facilitator such as Cyclescheme encounter.
What has been wrong is the scheme was miss sold by these companies with particular regard to values at the end of the hire period. They inferred a 5% value was acceptable and can sympathise with people coming to the end of their agreements to find this is no longer the case. The HMRC rules always stated ‘fair market value’ and no value could be agreed at the start of the agreement. They haven’t changed the rules at all – just provided guide values (which in reality are much lower than a realistic fair market value).

    Agree.
Cross – probably 55 to 56cm effective top tube.
Road – probably 56 to 57cm effective top tube.

DezB – yep a bargain! I got one after seeing your hairy commuting episodes.
For the money a great bit of kit – went for the one with the 8gb sd card in the end.

    1. When I can. ( average 3 times/ week)
    2. 1.7m each way.
    3. Derby.
    4. 11mph – really go for it (I use this as my main training schedule) 😯

    PS – MCTD feeling better?

Recently got an Edge 800 with the 1:50k GB Discovery bundle.
So far very pleased, but it’s my first bike GPS, so probably not best qualified on the pro’s & con’s of other systems.

Sounds like it could be a worn bushing surface on the hub. This bush is not replaceable, but I think you can now get a freehub with an undersize bore to compensate for the worn bushing.

Looks like he does a fixie skid to try and stop prior to going through gap – would indicate no brakes!

Oops! No brakes! Fixie skid not enough! But narrow bars, I can get through easy. Or perhaps not!
Thankfully survives to ride another day.

2hr SQT sessions £10.20 plus bike hire £10.50.

    2hr Skills/Induction sessions £14.80 including bike hire.

1hr Taster session £10.20 including bike hire.

Basically, bike hire included for all sessions pre-accreditation. Once accredited you have to pay for bike hire – so a perfect excuse/opportunity to buy yet another bike!

Ha! Ha! I could easily go faster than that on my cruiser!

However, after a few hundred metres would need to stop to fix a puncture – a punctured lung that is! ( A great response I once got from a riding buddy when asked if he was OK)

Ha! Ha! Apart from being near Victoria bus station that could describe one of my commuters !

Just hope I never have the misfortune to meet any of the bigoted asshooools on this thread while on my commute.

I have a medium and I’m 5′ 11″ with a 40″ chest. Jacket perhaps a bit short in the body but arms are plenty long enough.

Nope, still good, and long may it continue. Although we run our own scheme and can be a little more flexible with options at the end of the hire period.

Well done Harry, that was a great session! Many thanks from myself and the ‘little un’ for organising the evening.
Good to meet some of the t’internet warriors and put a few faces to names.
Really enjoyed the rolling sprint lap, and the intervals session at the end was a real killer!
    Thanks again.

That Steamer looks a real bargain.

At that price I would be seriously tempted, but got this last year to ride to work over the summer months. In fact rode to work on it today seeing as it’s a sunny day. Probably look a right pratt on it, but it’s fun, so don’t really care.
