    Thanks rOcKeTdOg. It’s a medium 51.5 with a 55.5 effective top tube.

Broke wrist early Dec. Cast off mid Jan. Rode bike immediately after – hurt like hell! Carried on riding with a decreasing amount of pain for about 4 months. Now 100% OK. I am ancient though!

A bit over budget but these Decathlon bikes seem good value – even come with carbon forks!

Yep. Ritchey carbon road stems on all my bikes, mtb, cx and road ( except the cruiser – alloy quill).
Not planning on dying just yet!

Find it difficult to imagine why you’re accidently catching the stop start button as it requires a definite push to activate.
Could try moving the unit on bike so it’s less out of the way, or fitting a Garmin silicon protector case which covers the buttons making them even less sensitive to accidental use.
I know you can lock the touch screen but don’t think the buttons can be locked.
If you set auto pause to on, the unit will auto start when movement detected. Plus you could change the start notice message to repeat so it keeps beeping when movement detected.

No difference. I use Ritchey WCS carbon stems on all my bikes – road, cross, track and MTB.

Giant TCX’s come in small sizes.
My son has a TCX 1 in XS – 46cm seat and 52cm top tubes.
Sadly will probably outgrow it this year, it’s been a great bike – light frame and sharp geometry.

They are great. Fast permanent fix for both road and MTB pressures, also make great frame cable rub protectors. What’s not to like?

4andyb – fair enough, it sounds on the face of it you have gone the extra mile to sort this. Shame it’s all being aired on a public forum!

OP comes across as an illiterate pratt. However, first bike has stickers peeling off, and replacement is scratched. Unlucky and quite rightly disappointed. Shop should sort this out pronto – despite bad press. Even illiterate pratts have the same consumer rights as nice customers.

“I’ll do all the map reading and route planning, all you’ve got to do is sit on my wheel for three hours.
Although,it might be advisable to bring a map, as you’ll need to find your own way back to the start after the chubby duffer on the Rohloff 29er has disappeared off in the distance.”

So your feeling confident eh! Graham.
3hrs? I doubt your frame will last that long! I’ll give you a cheery wave as I sail by, and let them know at HQ you’ll be a trifle late.

99/100 broken frames are caused by poor riding technique. There fixed that!

Nope! Will probably reseat during a ride. 80 psi was only an arbitrary figure anyway, I just keep inflating until they pop!

Never yet broken a frame- 25+ years mtb’ing. Some muppets on here need to learn how to ride! Are you watching MidlandTrailquestGraham.(possibly the worst rider in the world!).

Inflate to 80psi, wait for the pops and deflate.

I reckon it would look shite! One reason the black anno ones stay looking good is the fine annular ringed grooved finish. It will be virtually impossible to remove the black anodizing from the fine grooves.

Although I mainly only use mine for racing, it is great fun for a quick blast round the woods and, with slicks fitted, have used it for the odd 100m road ride – the slightly relaxed geometry and longer head tube making it a fast and comfortable tourer. In fact I have a spare set of Ksyriums with 23mm slicks on reserved for that very purpose.

Nah! You want a White one. As you say, Black is just so plain and boring!

Mind you a few gears and brakes might also prove useful for road use!

Yeah! 76 miles of roadie Gr. Notts. Bike Ride with a couple of riding buddies. Big respect to the guy on the slick tyred Specialized Stumpy HT who hung on to the back of our little pace line at 20+ mph for the final 25 miles into a headwind!

Sorry for late reply, just got back from Manchester.
Yep. Got the e-mail thanks. Now all I need is to find a GPX file of the latest route, then sorted.

    Haven’t done a trailquest since I rode a Mount Vision (circa 1998).
Really enjoyed them, and the Mount vision, in their day.
Sadly the frameset has been languishing in the roof for many years – might build it into a ski-bike one day soon!

“Charge Plug now with retro style threaded headset & quill stem!”

Wow! That seems like a must have upgrade!

2013 will bring us a rod operated brake to complete that retro feel!

    Dogsby,
    If of any interest, I bought City Navigator NT Europe 2011 on micro sd card off this e-bay shop. A bit cheaper than Garmin yet still the current edition;

In the end I went for the GM4800 package which has cadence, hrm, and 1.50K GB maps. Found it better value to get the bundle as the GB map is horrendously expensive on its own. I’ve also got the City Navigator NT Europe mapping but the 1.50K GB map contains nearly the same level of detail and POI’s for on road UK navigation.
Having said all that, there is a multitude of free compatible mapping out there on the web.

Like Dogsby, I purchased the 800 with the UK 1.50K OS maps bundle and is great both on and off road. Off road I use it ‘track up’ and it displays the OS map. On road, or if following a set course, I use it in ‘automotive’ mode which gives a 3D view with turn and junction prompts just like a car one. The OS maps also include POI’s etc.
I also purchased the City Navigator Europe but the OS maps contain most of the detail info (UK only obviously)
The built in base maps are really poor though.

Can’t have a cx thread without my old TCX so here goes.
