Rob – Sorry only just seen this. Have replied to your e-mail.

    Hope you find a frame.

mav. I used to have a 57cm one which weighed 1430 grams, so just guessing the next size would be about 20 or 30 grams more.

If you need a large size these 08 Giant TCX framesets are a good price at the moment. Not the same as the current frames but still light at around 1450grams for the frame.

Well, if lots of the forum are riding and recommending these so called niche brands then perhaps the manufacturers are rather more successful than we think with their covert advertising.

So, one for the Mod’s. Would this be considered advertising?

Where can I get some air like that? Is it from Hong Kong? What would the delivery times be like, and how long would the pressure last?

Wow! That’s impressive. Second outing on a track sporting aero lid and disk wheels. Was your third time part of Team GB. 🙂

Would the inner brass connector from a small (3 amp) terminal block be suitable. Have used these as makeshift repairs in the past.

Took seven days from dispatch date for a Merlin order to arrive last week. So wouldn’t be too concerned just yet.

oldgit – Can’t argue with that! Geometry is the least of my worries whilst hooning around a typical cross course.

Most, if not all road frames will be designed for a lay back post (plus most mtb frames). I think the penchant for inline posts is a fashion thing from the mtb world.
The correct fore/aft position for the saddle is when the crank arm is horizontal the bony protrusion below the knee is vertically above the pedal axle.
    Here endeth the first lesson!

    Thanks for comments guys.
Built this up in 09 from a frameset so prob. around 1800 all in. This is a very expensive way though, much better to buy complete bike. I think 2011 models start at 695 for the TCX 3 up to 1200 for the TCX 1. TCX frameset now 650 (list). The current frames have a more horizontal top tube though.

PS. If you’re feeling flush Giant now do a carbon frameset for 2750.!

Another vote for the cheaper Tacx Antares T1000. The heavy conical rollers are a real boon when learning and offer enough resistance if you use your gears.

Another 10% off at CRC at the mo.

Giant TCX frameset might be worth a look. A medium frame weighs in at just under 1400g

Long charge times are not a particular problem to me. In fact a slower charge rate probably increases the life of the battery.
I have a pair of three year old 08 Enduro MaXx lights which still exceed the manufacturers stated run times of 3hrs on full power.

lightman – not charging overnight is a little difficult when a MaXx-D needs a 16hr charge and the Six Pack takes 24hrs.

On max power both mine last between 2 hr 50min (worst) and 3hr 5min (best) until red led flashes.

Would highly recommend Chalet Chataigne in Chatel. Predominantly a ski chalet but now open in summer to cater for bikers and walkers. Part of the Port du Soleil system with direct links to Morzine, Les Gets etc.

What? So Giant aren’t a niche brand?
Oh ****! Will have to get rid of all mine double quick. How embarrassing.

PS – Also have a few Specialized. I was told they were uber niche. Have I been conned?

    Ritchey make WCS low rise in wet white (not sure on width though);

Edit – Oops! Ignore this as only 670mm wide.

Wiggle have some reasonable deals on 2010 Giant Bowery 72’s and FMX’s. Both have aluminium frames, modern compact geometry, available in small sizes but alas not carbon forked.

Oops! Sorry. Thought you meant green led flashing not actual light. All my Exposure’s are 08 onwards and all charge in a similar way. Suggest giving USE a ring for advice on older models – they are most helpful.

Yes. Plug charger in, green led illuminates. Connect light, led changes to red and led on light flashes green. When 90% charged led on charger changes to green. Leave on for another hour to fully charge.
Usually about four hours, as stated above, for 100% charge from empty.

Cold air is denser than warm air and therefore has more mass.
So you have to push more of it out of the way – sorted 🙂

Lexus IS220 – driving in snow should be fun not scary! Although a bit more traction now I’ve filled the boot with 6 bags of gravel. 🙂

swadey – My tarmac surfing had beggar all relevance to icy conditions. However, I did fracture my ankle in three places after falling on ice in the Peak 14 years ago.
Still wouldn’t buy ice tyres though, how can you seriously justify the need in the UK. If any are left in stock, the snow will probably be long gone by the time you get them.
If your that desperate why not get down to Screwfix, buy a box of 200 screws, and waste as many hours making your own – plenty of tips in other threads.

Nobody in The Midlands can justify ice tyres. Don’t get sucked into this studded tyre krapp so popular on here at the mo. 🙂

Hey swadey, you should have been out with the Wobblies this morning. We went mincing offroad around Strelley, and miraculously all survived!

Nice one Josh. That looks just the biz. Awesome.
Might be worth taking it to Thornbridge on Sunday!!
Not biking tonight so Ad and myself are off to the park for a spot of nightime boarding in all this fresh powder.

I run Conti. Explorers and Michelin Pro 3’s on mountain and road bikes respectively. Never have, and never will, constantly swap for varying conditions – they stay on till they’re bald!
Their is so much boolaks talked about tyre choice – particularly on this forum.

However, for cx racing, I have 3 sets of different tyres for various conditions, which I constantly change around.

This is because I am so krapp, I need a multitude of excuses why I finish so far down the field, and wrong tyre choice feels quite convincing. 🙂

For under £25 a Charge Spoon is worth a look. However, seats are a very personal preferance!

Try some Kenda Small Block 8’s – very fast rolling cx tyre which works well on Tarmac.
The best bit is CRC are doing these for a tenner each – usually about £30 so a real bargain. You could also get another 10% off before 9 am tomorrow.

I’d give them a call and see what they say as they are reportedly pretty good with after sales service. A colleague had a new battery fitted in a 3 year old Enduro Maxx for £58 incl. postage.
Sounds like you’ve been unlucky with run times from new. Not much consolation, but I have a pair of 3 year old Enduro Maxx which still exceed the stated 3 hour run times.
