    Small rant- not got much time at the moment;

    1. Will power is everything- dieting/a diet is a lifestyle, not a short term win. You’ll find that as soon as you stop the suppressants/fasting/starving/torture you’ll pile on the pounds. You put your body into starvation mode and as soon as food becomes available it stores it in case you starve again.

    2. Drink more water- you’ll be surprised how much it fills you up. It’s also great for your skin and health in general.

    3. Lay off anything processed and refined- any processed white carbs and anything that’s gone through a factory .

    4. Portion control- you know that big plate that the Mrs has? Flip it upside down. Your portion should only be as big as the little circle that rests on the table. This in turn will make you eat more often.

    5. Move more- weight loss is aided hugely by exercise. It increases heart rate and metabolism.

    6. Sleep more- again very important. Your body recovers during sleep, among other things.

    7. Little and often- yes, you can eat 1 meal a day and lose weight, but all you’re doing is starving yourself (see point 1). It also aids metabolism keeping yourself constantly stocked.

    8. Eat more green stuff (and fruit/veg)- You know that huge pile of mash and 2 salad leaves? Swap it over. Eat lots of green stuff. It’s guilt free, fills you up and contains important vitamins and minerals.

    9. Use apps- I’ve had clients/friends/family get great results using apps. It helps you monitor your consumption and exercise. You’ll probably frighten yourself with home many calories/fats/carbs certain foods contains (biscuits, smoothies, ice cream, sorbet).

    10. WILL POWER- you need this. I can’t emphasise this enough. You can out eat any suppressants. The ‘speed’ stuff contains disgusting amounts of caffeine. This will impact your sleep, digestive system and you’ll just be dossing up and up when it starts to wear off. It’s a drug. Drugs are bad, m’kay?
I’ve got a million and one other bits of advice and hundreds of hints & tips that could help you, but it will be useless if you don’t have the will power and are relying on drugs.

Also, ‘Remember, you cant eat yourself fit’- you really really can. Those ripped guys on the cover of Mens Health look like that primarily because of diet. It’s 70% diet and 30% exercise. It’s impossible to out exercise a bad diet.

This is very good! Lots of options, unobtrusive and free.
If you need to access a questionable website then enter the password and select if you want the website enabled for one time, time period or permanent.

The default blocked websites are very accurate- it doesn’t just block the naked ladies, but also things like Liveleak.

    Thanks again all!
stumpy01, looks/sounds like that solution isn’t ideal then. I just thought it would look neat and save space.
Maybe I should just get a bar to go 2 up on the wall and then 3 up underneath. I can then buy a another bar for the inevitable N+1.

For Swinley I usually just wear a lid (and maybe gloves).
I’d say wear what ever makes you happy, confident and more likely to enjoy the ride. If the knee pads give you more confidence then wear them!

Plus, as you’ve said it’s going to be dark. No one will see anyway. Why do you care what others think?

    Good idea!
I actually had the uplift service at BPW the other day. Really neat and they fit huge amount of bikes in a small space without damaging them. I’ll try and see how I can mount them. I’ve got a bit of a height restriction too- we’ve boarded the top of the garage for additional space.

Thanks Nick. The event sounds spot on for us!

Oh, didn’t know about this event. Think I might enter with my brother.
Is the course okay for a rigid singlespeed?

    Thanks for the help!
I think i’ll probably buy some of those lifeline wall rack mounts and put them on 45′ blocks at staggered heights. I’ve got a 4.5 meter wall to play with. I think that will do.

Need to work out what length screws I need for the weight..

I’d also say that you should write it in English.
If you do want me to check I’d be happy to. I’ve lived there most of my life and went to school there.

    That was my plan ^
Rigid & road upside down (as the 29er+ wont fit in anyway)
MTBS up so hopefully the forks, brakes, droppers still work.

    What hooks do people use?

Sounds essentially like my design- so it should work then? Have you got any photos by any chance?

I could screw hooks directly into the ceiling but I’m worried about all that weight hanging from one supporting brace. I thought distributing the weight more evenly across the wall would be better?

£600 will get you a ProII LB wheel build. That’s with 35 or 38mm carbon rims.

My parents have had a BBQ outside for 16 years with no maintenance. It’s a wooden frames gas one. We use it every year and it’s been faultless. The wood is looking a bit worse for wear but the metal components are working fine. We just put a cover on it when we’re done.

I’m tempted to pick up the 650B wheelset pack from Cotic (they offer it for 6 months 0% too btw).

    1. Do we think the i29 rim with the 2.8 tyre will fit in most 29er frames?
I’ve got a Whyte t129 SCR and mud clearance is very poor with a 29” 2.2 conti- worth the risk?

    2. Whats the height difference between 650b+ and a 29” wheel with 2.4 tyre? If the 650b+ dosen’t fit in the back I’d still like to run one on the front and put the rear on the Stooge.

I spoke to them about a Giant Reign- they said I could collect from London and pay cash, bank transfer or pay pal (if I cover the fees). Absolutely nothing dodgy from what I could see. Probably a shop closing down and selling stock.

    ^^ What Njee said.
I would have thought removing the rest of the nut and then finding a replacement is all you need to do.. I say all, that maybe a bit complicated.

Ace! Thats what cycling is all about.
Maybe we should start a crowd fundraiser for him?
It doesnt take much to get him a nice Inspired trial bike.. I’d happily put in some money.

Few people are already doing this Chum3- most notable is Liteville. They mix their tyre sizes according to frame size. It’s a neat idea but I’d personally want the option of running full 29er or 650b, as well as the Liteville mix.

You’re builds are always awesome! Look forward to the finished product :D .

If you’re going no expense spared then I’d leave the Lauf well alone and look at a lefty, Sid or marz lcr carbon 320.

My Canfield YS and Whyte T129 are the most fun/snappy bike’s I’ve ever ridden.
I’d say the Whyte is even easier in twisty stuff then my Stooge.
The geometry is spot on and I found it easier to maneuver around the local wood loop (very tight twisty stuff) than the 650b Five I had.
At BPW the Whyte was at it’s limits though and I could have really done with more travel, either in 650b or 29er flavor. I was the only 29er there!
I think it comes down to design, rather than wheelsize.

That looks fun :D ! Don’t think I’m taller enough and I’m not sure the garage is big enough either.

In all seriousness, anywhere in the UK that I could demo one?

I use to fold mine onto/into a jumper.
Put the shirt on top of said jumper and then just fold so the shirt faces out.
It’s given me great results over a 10 commute for 2 years.
The key is to ensure that it’s not stored too tight so it creases and to lose so it slides out of it’s folded shape.

    £10 for a simple cut/style.
£14 at the turkish place were it gets washed and my face gets steamed and I get a drink. They also set my ears on fire (literally) and use a cut throat shaver for my neck. Bit of an experience.

Oh, just got the key! Always put off by faffing with the machine.
I’ve gone for the 24hr period for £2. I ticket the update function, my understanding is that once I’ve used my 1x 24hr period it will then load another on automaticly for £2. Seems neat and trouble free!

    I do!
Carry the whole lot on the frame- innertube, tyre leavers, pump & water bottle.
It all staid in place after a day on the Reds/Black at BPW.

    I had a similar scenario.

I initially asked for a pay rise owing to the huge additional skilled work I was bringing to the company. They agreed but it took them over 6 months before paperwork started and then subsequent months (3 or 4) of more feet dragging.

I went ahead and found another job with pay that was way above their initial pay rise offer. I handed in my notice and two days later they came back with a pretty incredible offer, 35% pay rise (which was a little more than the new job) and my own office within a month. I didn’t really have any interest by that stage and left.

Sounds like you’ll be in the same position! Keep working hard though. You never know what the offer could be. Fingers crossed :o

    The used options on Amazon.
I’ve always got my niche books from there. There was a book I needed that was about £80 retail which I picked up for £9 and it contained some useful notes
