I can’t say that the Stooge feels overily stiff. It’s certainly more forgiving than my old Yelli and HX2. The rear wheel flexes a bit and I have buz marks on the seat stay.
Stooge & Whyte (bit of a fan boy)
Endura for clothing
Hope for components
Swarf, cotic & Shand, not owned them but follow them closely
Alp-kit for storage
I also like Orange for being simple and functional
Use to like Bird, but put off following a chat with Dave at the trailhead.
It’s a weird one. I find it easier to manual the T129 then the Stooge and the Explosif 650b. I think it comes down to practice and what you’ve comfortable on.
The Stooge is great too. Simple, robust and with carbon bars and 29er+ front wheel it’s pretty forgiving.
Mine comes in around 26lbs. Perfect winter build! Just awaiting a 650+ rear wheel.
Looks great! I’ve always wondered- do log store like this not leave the wood damp and wet? It’s pretty exposed and all you need is a bit of wind to soak the wood, no?
Timely thread! I slashed the side wall with flint today on my Conti 2.2 trail king rendering the tyre useless for tubeless. I had a Spec 2.3 Purgatory in the garage and trial fitted it. It fits in with zero mud clearance and I’m sure that if I press hard into a berm it’ll buzz.
Time to find some new rubber.
Just in case anyone was interested, I bought a couple of those 3 bike rack wall stands. Easy to install and could take 3 bikes with a bit of playing. I’ve opted for 2 up and 3 standing underneath. I may put up one more stand in the corner.
Built a up a custom frame I ordered, rode it to the beach for photos. Measured the frame and found that the builder was way out of spec. Hated the whole experience. Sold after about 5 minutes rolling time with the revised geometry.
I waited 5 months for the frame to be built and shipped from Oz.
– Google uses enough energy to continuously power 200,000 homes
– Google accounts for roughly 0.013 percent of the world’s energy use
– One Google search is equal to turning on a 60W light bulb for 17 seconds
– One year of Gmail is as efficient as a message in a bottle
– Google’s carbon footprint is zero (after offsets)
Bit of quick maths suggests that I need to earn £15k to be ‘comfortable’.
That includes everything and savings. I should be able to get a part time job (probably around 0.5 FTE) that does this.
List of human stampedes.
Looking at the list it’s all sorts of events- Shopping, culture, sporting, music, religious & theater
Not fair to bring religion into this.
I’m thinking of buying a van or narrow boat to live in and finding a better work/life balance.
I’ve only done a few years of corporate work and I’m sick of it.
I’m not very materialistic- the only fancy things I own is bikes.
If I can fit a couple bikes in a boat or van, I think that’ll work for me.
My friends been living in his van for 3 years. He does odd jobs here and there wherever he is and surfs the rest of the time. He mainly goes to Spain and France. He loves life. He worked out that he needs £5k a year to live ‘comfortably’.
Makes sense :( . I guess there’s no chance of helping people up if there’s a torrent of people running.
I’ve been to Reading festival enough times to feel the push and waves rippling through the crowd but everyone’s helping each other out.
I can fly to/from the US, buy the bike I want and have a week riding holiday for less than than the RRP of buying the bike here. In fact, I’d still save about 5%.
My brother is 6′ and I’m 5’8”- he uses my bikes all the times. From BPW wales trips to long XC days. He’s never appeared to have any issues. Sometimes he looks a bit cramped but I run all medium frames with 50mm stems.
If you put a 70mm stem on it should be okay.
Bonesetter- what rim are using?
I’ve found a PACENTI DL31 wheelset (25mm internal) for £270, or Dually for £300 rear.. Would the Pacenti give me enough benefits or is it worth going wider?
I’m struggling to find a rear 27.5+ wheel!
They all seem to come in pair or have boost axles.
Is there anyone selling 27.5+ rear wheel builds with 135xQR?!
Hmm, I doubt it. They are paper thin.
They are crap tyres too- chuck them and get some good ones.
I’ve never punctured tyres as much as these, and I don’t find the grip that predictable.
I really like 18 bikes website. Yes, they also have a webstore but the rest of the site is good too. I think the site needs to be clean and fresh (and adaptable, think bootstrap).
The number of times I’ve been away on holiday and needed and LBS. I’ve been put off by crap websites that look like they have put no effort in with out of date content.
We’ve given you plenty of great advice and sound suggestions. Your response to this is that you just ate more biscuits and you’ve ignored all of the advice. How about engaging with the information that’s been given to you.
Ohh, you’re in luck! If you order a Pizza from Dominos you can even get the Oero Pizza delivered. How about that! May as well get garlic bread too. Mmmmm..
