Love night riding alone, especially when it’s raining. I tend to stick to offroad. There’s something therapeutic about being by yourself staring into the distance being accompanied by the pitter patter of rain and crunching of gravel and mud.

I would think something like a Giant Anthem X 29er would be perfect.
Essentially a short travel XC FS 29er. Could also look at the Specialized Epic or Trek Topfuel.

Will the event be in summer? Will it also be used throughout the year?

..if they had seating for 4 guys to enjoy a pint then they aren’t that busy.
A busy pub is one where it would take 10 minutes to order a pint and then you’d be squashed in the most uncomfortable position in the corner of a room or against the fence. I’ve worked in busy pubs and have always had time to server and help people (not just customers).

Co-molded aluminum hardware on frame pivots: no bonding.

    – from the SC website.
Looks like more than just paint to me and covers a fairly large and highly stressed area. Get it checked out!

The glowing monster/ufo/scary thing is within poking range, and you haven’t poked it yet?!

Read that as porked  ! You can tell it’s Friday..

Can we have a daylight picture too?
Can’t believe you’ve left the relatives in there.. have you checked on them recently?

squoglynobblybob, what’s funny is that I asked you in a polite manor what you would suggest.. your response speaks volumes

Hmm.. so what would you suggest I do riding from London to Paris in under 24 hours, squoglybob?

I’ve never come across Time! How on earth has that happened? Cycled with lots of people and everyone seems to be on Shimano and CB. I might buy some of these to see what the difference is.

    I’m 5’8”-9” with a 30” inseam and ride all medium 29ers.
There is no way I’d be comfy on anything smaller than medium.

Any of the Cove frame names..

Just bought three (for the family  ). All within budget-ish:
    – 7IDP m2
    – TLD A1 Drone Red (down to £70)
    – Mavic Notch

I’ll report back on how they are. It’ll be interesting comparing the A1 to the M2.

Bonesetter- Looks great! Is that the Scraper rim on the Mk1 stooge? How much clearance have you got with the Trailblazer?

Cheers George. That looks nice! Lots of protection down the back of the head and they come in ENDURO colours. I think I’ll buy one.

That Bern looks warm! Looks similar to a Kayak lid too.

I’m in the same position as you and with a similar budget.
I really like the look of the 7 iDP M2.
What really annoys me about helmets is that they rarely show them on a person! Some can look very odd but you wouldn’t know until you’ve bought it and tried it on :x

    Done!
Any chance of posting up the results? I’d love to see them.

    Depends on the bike.
Sometimes I’ll buy it knowing that I need to change parts and other times I’ll buy it because it’s spot on.
I only changed the tyres on my Whyte, whereas I changed almost every component on my 456 SS.

That is true, except that your choice of tyre and available rims might not be a tight enough fit, in which case.. you need a compressor! Or CO2.

I just add a few more turns of tape until the tyres tight. Works everytime!

    Personally I;
    1. wrap 3-4 times around the rim with electrical tape
    2. Fit tyre and tube and pump till bead pops
    3. Pop off one side of the bead and replace tube with valve
    4. Shake sealant and add a few Mls. and pop tyre back on
    5. Pump like hell until bead pops
    6. Shake tyre

My method had worked with every tyre and rim combination I’ve ever tried, from fat bikes to XC race bikes. I’ve never had any issues.

If you get a puncture, keep riding. The sealant should plug the hole. If it’s too larger hole then you can buy tubeless worms to help plug it. If all else fails then fit a tube.

Oh, they look lovely! Wish my Arkos was a brighter colour.
Any chance of some of the 650b+ bike photos on the Ramin thread?!

Looks like a good spec for the price.
The only thing I don’t like is the FSA 3 arm propriety crankset which ties you into their chainrings, but then again a cheap SLX crankset is only £45

Not sure it’s something you can book, but I’ve had parcels arrive at 6:50 am 8O

Yeah, you’ll be fine! It would probably be more fun/fast/forgiving on a FS though. The Blues are very flowy and for the most part smooth too.

I use Shimano AM45[/url]. The issues I find is the same as trail_rat. The AM45 take a while to get wet, but when they do they essentially act like a wetsuit and keep your feet warm.

Swinley and Jump Gully ride yesterday. Warm, but not hot and a bit dusty. Perfect!

I woke up to a rainstorm this morning and it was almost dark. Thought I’d set the alarm too early.

I spent about £2750 on a Kingdom Brigante 650b build.
I really wanted a light Ti trail hardtail and Chris at Kingdom is a lovely chap, so why not.
I’d probably spend up to about £4,000 (if I had that kind of money) if the right bike came along. Canfield Bros Epo or Stooge Ti.

I get this when I’m carb cycling and am on low carbs.
I also often get light headed. Nasty. I assume it’s blood sugars being too low.

I love the white personally. It reminds me of something out of Transformers or something Japanese. Great looking bike and lovely details.
I’ve always fancied a Demon MTB frame.

I saw two of these outside the hut at BPW. Really nice looking bikes! They had very different specs. I was struck by how long and slack they look.
I wanted to chat to the owners/riders but couldn’t see them.
I’d love to have a ride on these to see what it’s all about.
