That makes sense! My dad helped install it many moons ago.
It got worse when we go a new boiler a few years ago. Presumably because it was more powerful it became worse.

Ours does this every night and every morning. We reckon it’s something to do with the boiler. We found the boiler is doing something and when it stops there’s a thud. Maybe it’s the pressure moving pipes?

I’ve just done 12 months on my set. Gone through a few brakepads and ridden in all weather. I think they’re great. Plenty of power and modulation. Haven’t required any attention. Very consistent feel. I’ve not experienced any fade. Had a few offs and the brakes are pretty marked now but still work perfectly. I was very skeptical about the Guides but now prefer them to my XTs.

I thought this was about someone relapsing from iDave. Disappointing.

If I was at all worried about some chemical based national/global mind control (which I’m not), then I would look no further than our water supply.

I really want to give flats a go again, and then I remember how often the pins would sample my shins.. How do you guys avoid destroying your shins?

    Move more and eat less.
Use My Fitness Pal to monitor what you are eating.
Calculate the calorie intake required for your weight loss goals.
    Remember, it’s 70% diet and 30% exercise.
You can’t out exercise a bad diet.
Without your stats it’s hard to say how much weight loss is possible.

To busy to type anything extensive atm- email me if you want more help.

    So, what happened?

Few local woody bits and narrow trails had me pushing my Stooge with Moto bars (800mm). I have to tilt my bars 45′ to get through certain gaps. Trade off between bars or wheel hitting stuff. Annoying. Love the bar feel and the width. Suppose I should think about cutting them 😥

Commuting by car costs £1.10/mile [excluding cost of car].
When I was commuting by bike the cost was £0.60/mile [including cost of bike].
Wish I could still commute by bike for every other reason than cost.

Should have kept the T129! That Reverb has covered thousands of miles year round and it’s still working without any issues.

Sounds like you’re just unlucky. Isn’t there a new Reverb coming out?

There was a thread on this a month ago HERE

There was an email recently from Stanton about some Mk2 models, not sure that included the Sherpa. Might be worth contacting them about this. Nothing on the website currently about that.

Tool- it’s so easy and stress free to use the tool.
I’ve also used mine to do all sorts of other maintenance, including wheel rebuilds and pressing all the bearings in. Should also work at pressing the bearings into my frame when the time comes.

It’s the one thing putting me off at the moment.

Some more photos.. sorry about my grass.
Done a fair bit of mileage now. I rode just over 3,500 miles on my Mk1 stooge with 29er rear and 29+ front. I loved that bike. Initially wanted to get the Ti version, but sadly out of budget so went for a Mk2. As expected, bike feels as great as before but the new tyres and bars make a huge difference. Love the 650b+ on this. The cheap carbon post is also ace. The whole thing is so comfortable, but still playful. Couple bike packing trips planned for summer.

Bump.. How are you getting on with the bike? Any idea on your build weight? I keep coming back to the Edit.. good price, perfect travel, orange and takes a water bottle.

Seen a band at the weekend, Future of the left (formerly Mclusky(ish)) cracking band, should be bigger.

I accidentally saw them at Reading festival a few years ago. Just wondered around some tents and stumbled across them playing ‘Beneath a Waves an Ocean’. Epic. I’ve listened to them ever since. They are pretty big though, considering the genre.

I’ve always just left the stem slightly loose, straddled the bike and got the bars where they feel best, then tightened.

That’s what I do. How else would you fit them?

Just rotate until comfy or do the car park test and adjust accordingly. Take an allen key with you.

Whyte T129. I absolutely love mine. Does everything I want and more.
Only way to improve it would be carbon and more mud clearance outback.
That would be my bike for life.

Get yourself a test ride on the bikes mentioned in this thread. It’s the only way to truly know. Lots of different geometries and suspension platforms. One riders perfect is another riders nightmare.

Do you not get very cold with airflow surrounding you 360′?
At least with the ground you get some additional shelter and warmth from the roll mat?

I was knocking a headset out and when I finally got the cup out I caught it and let the copper tool drop. It sliced straight through the sidewall of my £65 new tyre that was setup tubeless on the bike next to where I was working. About 2cm! 👿

Not sure my Thule would support that monster. I’ll just have to collect and ride it home.

    Thanks both.
Essentially I need to know what measurements I’d require to machine my own freehub body.
    So:
    – Freehub body length
    – Outer diameter outside of splines
    – Outer diameter between ‘splines’
    – distance between each ‘spline’
    – Tolerances(?)

(Forgotten what to call the raised parts).

Yeah, I think you’ll struggled to find a frame that hits every point. There’ll be a compromise somewhere. I would say Stooge too.

Your best bet is to try a Ergon grips. They do a variety of shapes. Some give you an artificial sweep which may help.

Edit: Slow fingers. I’d also opt for a new set of bars. Stooge Moto and cut down?

Running Spec Ground Control 3.0″ front and rear. Look like nice summer tyres.
Front chainring is the Sram DM X1 in 32t- it came with the cranks.

Yeah, I’ve had a play and the Moto bars are brilliant. They are so comfotable! Just puts my wrist in the right place. Not sure how they’ll fair on my local trails though. It can get very narrow.

air of desperation about a place that should be so exciting and happy but is often quite empty and staffed by people who are clearly good-humoured and cheerful in the face of what must be shite working conditions.

This. It’s the best place I’ve worked. Management was terrible, hard work cleaning, sales goals unrealistic, grumpy customer and awful hours, but my colleagues were fantastic. I really enjoyed working there and had a right laugh. Not sure what it is about cinema, but it seems to attract the geeks, which suits me.

I’ve also worked for one of the big cinema chains. We were told all food is fine to take in, as long as it’s not hot. Likewise, all drink is fine as long as it’s not alcohol. We’ve never been instructed to search bag or even look at bags. It’s just if some one brazenly wanders in with McD’s in one hand and a bottle of JD in the other, that we did something. You’d be surprised how often that happened..

The cinema made nothing from tickets and entry fees, sometimes it wouldn’t even cover OPEX. When a screen is less than half full it would be running at a loss (film dependent). They pretty much only make money on food.

When I worked there and I was on minimum wage, I was always surprised at people spending 2x the ticket price on food per person. There was a 99p shop less than 30 seconds away. I would probably sell food to 2/3 of people buying tickets. Often you could up-sell them to a large with minimal effort. It was ‘only 50p and you get double’.
