That sucks! I’m sure lots of us have done similar (including driving over my own helmet).

Might be worth posting on the Surrey Hills MTB group [/url] on Facebook.

Not sure, but the bike that will always stick out to me is the Spec 29er Epic carbon. It was the easiest bike to climb on and, for once, I actually enjoyed climbing. I actively looked for climbs, technical or long, to test the bike. I’ve owned a a fat bike and it was a reasonable climber, but not ‘fun’ like the Epic.

Look laterally stiff and vertically compliant to me..

Wonder what the frame weight is 😯

🙁 I’ve been looking at it longingly for 2 years now?!
Looks like some great lines and good use of the elevation.
Why not cover it in disclaimers like every other ‘bike park’?

Does anyone know if the geometry of these is the same as the current through axle model?

    Fantastic discussion, cheers all!
Lots of bikes I didn’t realize existed either.

The Orbea MX range looks very good actually. Good price, okay components and reasonable weight. Clearly aimed somewhere at the middle of the market.

I suppose the issue around functional suspension is cost.. Sids lowered to 80mm would be a good compromise of weight and performance, but they cost a huge amount. It’s not economically viable for me to start making our own.

Interesting. I need to do some more research on children’s bike geometry. Would be interesting to see how the figures vary to adult bikes. I wonder if kids bikes would benefit from ‘progressive geometry’, I would assume so though it would be more conservative compared to adult bikes.

Race Face Aeffect Direct Mount from UBYK. They seem to come stock down to 30t, but not 28t.

Steve- Thanks for input. Yes, there is indeed. It’s one of the avenues we’re looking at. Requires a fair bit of capital to invest if we go down that route though.

Dependent on how the idea develops, we may also have a pump track/mini trail to test bikes, sizing and components.

We’ll certainly have a guaranteed trade-in-scheme too, whereby old bikes/frames will be taken in part exchange for a new model.

Early days and just testing the water for now.

Speedster- Sorry, the link included the ‘)’, should be https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/XRSQZ2P

Neightbour’s kid stopped by yesterday with hsi new “full suspension” bike

Elastomer forks (which he couldn’t compress with his full weight), steel coil on the back. Weighed THIRTY SIX pounds, felt much heavie to pick up 😯 🙁 That’s sad, eh. At least he’s happy with it for now.. Would help if Halfords and the like don’t keep selling these FS BSOs.

Up to 65 questionnaire responses, again- thank you 😀 !

Reoccurring theme is weight. Something I completely agree with.
I’ve seen countless children and adults being completely put off cycling by weight, which is a real shame.

The balance then is the age old; Cost, weight, price..

Great comments above (and also on the questionnaire comments), thanks!
We’re thinking of a hybrid of current ideas and Steve’s idea.
Sorry for being a bit vague with our plans.

We’d certainly be providing all components and bearings available as replacement parts too.

It does appear that there is a lack of components for the children’s demographic (across the ages), mainly cranks.
The answers are fairly broad now which is a spanner in the works.

I really like the look of that too.
Wouldn’t mind a go and comparing to it running suspension.

I use the Alpkit Fueld Pod in medium and mount it like this. Works really well. Probably a bit too big for your application, but takes a tube, pump, multitool, tyre leavers, gels, spares and more. It tucks nicely out the way and even when packed is no wider than a water bottle.

Alternatives for your application is the new Wee Cog top tube bag. It’s not on their site yet, but on their FB page HERE

Or possibly the Wee Cog handle bar bag in large HERE.

Big fan of their stuff. UK made, quality and nice people.

Something from Wee Cog I’d suggest, probably the Slick.
Made in Scotland and STW Towers approved.
Nice people behind the business to boot!

I recently sold my entire bike in bits posting everything with MyHermes. Didn’t have any problems and cheap! Easiest courier for me as I work, so RM is shut when i’ve finished and no other delivery drop offs for miles. MyHermes drop off in 2 local villages and on the way back from work.
I’d like to avoid them but unless I post everything on a weekend I have no other option.

Pretty surprised by all of the renewable figures.
Wind and Solar are the most suprising. I know it’s windy, but it’s still providing almost a third! Equally, solar- it’s a pretty grim day.

For riding below 50mph they are awesome. Much prefer it for this riding over the MT07. Small, easy to maneuver, involving, cheap to run. You can filter with ease and then park it in tiny places that you can’t even get a scooter in.

Limitless number of mods for it too..

    Avoid that stuff.
Get yourself a Honda MSX125 (also known as a Grom).
I love mine to bits and covered 15,000 miles on it.
Easy to mess about on, fast enough to be useful and you can fit chunky tyres and do some greenlaning. All that with the robustness of a Honda. They are really easy and cheap to work on too. I’ve done all my own maintenance (and modifications) myself. You can pick them up cheaply and they hold their value.

How about an uplift trailer copy.. Made from wood/metal and running along a wall? Not seen it done indoors but could be cheap and is a good use of space.

I’m quite happy with my political knowledge and who I want to support. I just wanted to find the voting history of the ward. Tactical voting won’t work in my area, so I shall stick by my guns.

    Cheers for that.
Eye opener! No chance of any other party winning in my area.
Winning party has won for years and years with a huge majority.
Can’t say I’m surprised given the area I’m in.
99% chance of them winning again according to that site.

    See you there Kryton!
I did the 100km one last time round. Some of the climbing is short & sharp where you’ll be stopping and accelerating, that said you keep momentum well on the long flats.
For Wantage specifically I wouldn’t bother with lighter kit. I’d make sure you’ve got enough food and water though, I got caught out a bit. Possibly an extra tube as with all the hedges around they cut them this time of year leaving lots of thorns that can shred your tyres.

Mboy, carbon only for the S-150?
Will we see carbon for the T129 for 2018?
