I’m guessing you’re not based in the UK, as you’re using $$?
If you are, drop me an email.

You’re certainly on the right tracks. Realizing you need to stop is the biggest hurdle. Now it’s about finding the right support, advice and treatment to assist you.

Have you tried vaping or other NRT treatment?

Pair of Royal gloves.
Summer gloves bought a few years ago- both thumbs have holes, the palm is now half rubber from the gribs, the top is faded & some tears from thorns. They are comfy and do the summer job well though, so they shall stay.

If buying a whole new bike, then go boost. If you have old nice QR wheels, stick with QR.

If you’re firmly in the bimble category, it’s doubtful you’ll feel any of the Boost/throughaxle benefits. I would say the rear wheel is easier to fit though.

Wasn’t there also a geometry update for the Boost frame?

Where did that figure come from?
I’m just curious.
It sound a bit like the Garry Fisher claim of ‘We’ll all be on e-bikes by 2030’.

Not exactly the same, but I had some Clarks floating rotors on a bike and after a years use I started noticing some rotational play. I kept note and carried on riding. It was fine for another 6 months before the play go too much for me and I swapped them. This was on an Enduro bike.

I’m near Swinley and the Ridgeway if you fancy a day on the trails and grabbing some food after 🙂 . This applies to anyone- always up for a bimble.

I can live with it being called ‘speed’, but I can’t deal wtih my riding buddy calling them ‘fixed’ or ‘fixies’.. I explained to him about 5 times what the difference is, but he still refers to them as ‘fixies’.

It’s got to the point where I leave mine at home when we ride so I don’t hear him say it. Sometime this backfires.. ‘Not on your fixie today? It’s muddy out!’ 👿

Only heard good things about RSF. I’ve sent them a Reverb and quoted a 4 day turnaround, inc. postage! As above, based in Plymouth and work with LBS’s all over the country, so this may well be the plan, at least temporarily.

I know a few people that cracked their Oranges.
Most recent was a Four that was 2 months old in Pink.
Replacement was not Pink.. so I think it was a blessing 😛
It wasn’t ridden hard though. Local footpaths cheeky trails and bridleways, plus the badlands of Swinley every few months.

Ah, thought someone might ruin the party with the Moonmen nicheness 😆 !

What’s the intended riding, littlelordfauntleroy? Singletrack? Touring? Commute?

Interesting choice.
I’ve had many Whytes (4+) with internal routing and haven’t had any issues with cable rattle.
Did you have all the rubber grommets in place at entry/exit ports?

I used to run 800mm on all my bikes with 35-60mm stems, but recently move to Renthal Fatbars with 780×35(Burgtec stem) and 780×50(hope stem) on my bikes (yes, 2 Whytes). They also have the same bar height and use the same grips. It’s nice having consistency on contact points when jumping between bikes. Both bars are also 31.8- I never got on with the stiffness of 35mm bars.

I assume this is a certain LBS that stock Whyte?
If so, lovely bunch and Mark deserves the support.

Update from me. Done about 40 muddy offroad miles and I can’t fault the Mudhugger. It’s really solid and coverage is great. No mud on my ass. Just need a good front mudguard.

Opposite for me.
Maxxis HRII and DHFII onto Hope Enduro wheels- Popped on with my hands and went up tubeless straight away, no faf. Took about 10 minutes to do both wheels!

The Bontrager XR1s on Hope XC rims was a right pain to setup tubeless. Took me a good hour+. Sidewalls are also too thin so running more pressure than I’d like to.

Great project! Nice to see you getting stuck into this.
How many miles did you cover on Mk1 before it cracked?

Out of interest, why not print in PVA then soak it out of the frame afterwards?

Never knew that was possible. Very cool idea.

The Rev was an awful fork on the 140mm stumpjumper and is a worse choice for a 150mm 29er and the reverb isn’t on the base Whytes, its their own brand one, which after using I would rather have a quick release seat clamp.

We’re talking like for like price was, which is the S150S vs. AM9 GX12.
So the Whyte does come with the Reverb and the ’18 Rev is now a 35mm stantion fork with new inners- review place it inline with the Pike RC.

I don’t hate them and I backed them on Seeders actually, but the big reason you look to direct sales bikes is for value for money, however Whyte are now offering comparable bikes, as are lots of other competitors. So what’s the benefit of the direct sales model for the consumer now? Struggling to get a test ride (unless you live near Swinley), lack of setup if the bike gets posted (for which they charge for too), your new rider can’t just pop to the LBS to get advice on the setup, unknown quantity buying into a low volume mk1 bike. Seems like all the negative attributes of direct sales without the huge value for money incentive.

On the topic of CRC- I got sent a set of Pike RCT3s instead or RCs in the recent Pike PSA.

Looks like the price has gone up because a)there’s no budget wheel set and b) there’s no £300 Yaris. Everything else looks the same price.

..yet Whyte manage to pop on a ’18 Rev and a Reverb whilst being able to supply the bike for less through an LBS with Demo bikes.
Whyte wheelset is wider and uses a Pro4 rear hub. I know what I’d prefer..

Bird aren’t so cheap anymore..
If you compare the pricing of the Whyte S-150S (Vs.AM9 GX12), they are quite close.. The Whyte also includes a dropper and a better wheelset. No dropper on a £2550 bike 😯
In fact, with the 15% discount my LBS is offering, the Whyte is £50 cheaper with all the perks of buying from an LBS.

Looks like a nice bike though. Interesting that they’ve gone straight for the LT 29er.

Picture pinched from another ad. The actual photo shows a ’15/’16 T130S, so it’s actually fairly expensive. Users got lots of positive feedback.

I think it’s just a poor ad with cheeky pics.

Even single speed seems a push.
Don’t think any UK brand make;
– Tyres
– innertubes or sealant
– Cartridge bearings
– Chains
– Wheels (Rims, spokes & nipples)
[N/A for rigid SS but- Suspension fork, rear shocks]

Drive the Deal is the cheapest, however with CarWow you talk direct with a dealer. DTD usually don’t allow you to talk direct with the dealer until further down the lines. Depends on the flexibility you’re looking for.

Most of those companies above are not UK made products, let alone innovative. Burgtec? I love their stuff, but it’s certainly not innovative.

I heard that on the way to work today.
It made me so angry. Why on earth did they get the air time? Why was no one there to challenge their utter utter ****. The presenter didn’t challenge it either. Really disappointing with that piece. Lots incorrect facts and many myths spread by them.

I volunteer at a local youth club. It’s so nice to see how progressive the young people are. They don’t care about age, race, gender, social background. In fact, the kids encourage each other to be themselves and to push past any social anxieties to be what they want to be.

These people need to go crawl back under their rock. There’s no place for them in this day and age. I feel sorry for their kids..

Cateye Volt800, or at a push Volt1600. Great lights and nice build quality. You can get additional batteries for the 800 that are easy to swap. I run both- 800 on the helmet & 1600 on the bars. Overkill for sure, but lots of setting that make them suitable for country roads too.

I’m not sure, but I see you can now buy direct from Evil EUsite, and that includes some discount. Maybe they’re in a transition period of moving to direct sales? That said, still lots of LBSs selling them.

Out of curiosity, what’s in it for the banks offering these 0% cards over such long periods? Presumably people savvy enough to use the cards would also be savvy enough to pay off in full prior to charges. The bank meanwhile, is degrading their cash by 2%+ annually!
