Shame it has to be a 50cc, because the Honda Grom 125 is awesome.
There’s a million and one aftermarket components available for them.
The engines are bulit proof and easy to work on and they hold their value (modified or not).

Seems to me that they don’t want to take the risk with the capital expenditure or holding stock.
Having the drop model means they can order the numbers based on orders received, so zero risk to them. Just slap on an additional few weeks* waiting time and take a lower margin, then people seem to accept it**.

    Really helpful- thanks very much!
I’ll probably go down this route.

What are you used to commuting on? How long is the commute?
I didn’t find a huge difference between my 29×2.3 over 650×3.0 on roads. A little slower, but negligible in feel for me.

STW living up to it’s stereotype as the majority of t-shirt are being ordered in XL :D

How is this progressing? Will these every materialize ?!

    Number 4 & this

I can’t help wanting “Hoon your Gnarpoon” on the back

I also like 2, but make the long, slow & slack extreme

    Would buy one/both!

This would be perfect for my dad.
He wants an e-bike for some of the time and a normal bike for the other half.
He’s in Switzerland, so a gentle ride around the lake doesn’t require an e-bike but to get up into the hills, he just lacks the cardio these days. He want’s some exercise but not too vigorous these days.

I can’t find much detail on this design though. I assume you unbolt the BB motor & crank, slide out the battery and then bolt in a piece that already has the conventional BB and crank installed. Could be done in minutes if well designed. Add some durable plugs and it could be super easy. Certainly sounds like the future to me, especially if it looks as good as this.

I could imagine keeping a motor & battery in the shed for certain big days out, when I’m ill or for uplifts. I’ll wait a few years until they’ve got this right. For me a dedicated E-bike isn’t required, but a hybrid would be awesome.

If it’s 605b+, will it run 29er wheels? Could be a cheap winter HT..

Very cool! Looks like great quality too.
Hope she has get in the miles!
Is it a ratchet system for the drive? How loud is it when coasting?

    Must be something material related.
Here’s the whole image, and you can see some sort of lattice bottom left.
They’ve called the image ‘Xd Teaser Marquee’, so who knows.

Is it not the same as the RF & Sram interface? I.e.- big hex key?
Edit: Beaten to it. Great system though. Glad they are using it. I might be tempted now! Shame about the propriety BB though.

Mine was a great bike to mess about on with 140mm forks, but always felt a little short in reach and CS to be stable in the big stuff.
It had the same geometry as the Nimble9, but in Alu and no sliding dropout, so clues in the name!

    Whyte S150C RS or Works.
Only just got mine but very impressed with it! Despite the additional travel and bigger/wider tyres & rims, it pedals very well. I’d say on par with the T129 and T130. Point it downhill and it’s silly quick and capable.

Have you tried taking the chain off and recreating it?
Could discount the chain, mech & chainring that way.. though it could still be the BB.

speedball isn’t traditional geometry, it was basically designed for me to be a racier endurance bike

    = traditional geometry

The MK4 is batshit mental and handles brilliantly

    = progressive geometry

    (IMHO)

    cokie

    Depends what geometry you’re after!
The Speedball is classic Stooge, whereas the Mk4 is ‘progressive geometry’ Stooge..

Mk4 still takes the 29er+ plus front, but ‘only’ 29×2.6 rear. Sacrificing a bit at the back for longer TT & slacker HA and dropper compatible. I went Mk4 personally, but i get the appeal of the speedball. Especially with a truss fork :O

Years ago I had a lot more fun on my 456 SS at Gawton & Tavi compared to the Spec Enduro.
I ended up putting that back in the car.

Recently did Windhill & A417 on the hardtail. All the trails are ride able on the HT (other than Pro Line at Windhill, unless you have serious talent). Had an absolute blast at both, despite winter slop. Windhill runs pretty slow in the wet, so some of the red/black jumps are trickier when you don’t carry the same speed as in summer.

Shouldn’t be using Lorem ipsum any more.. lazy lazy ;)

Ran an xml-sitemap analyser but can’t find any of the pages above.
Guess Ed took it down once someone leaked it.

Maybe On-One will buy them and run them as a silent investor.
They share the same QC & CS ethos, but they actually deliver a product.

Is it too big a frame for someone only 5’9” tall?

@jupiter- I’m the same height as you and have owned the Mk1 & 2. They fitted me perfectly. You’ll have no trouble.

Thing is, that HS is a Jones double topper, and I think only comes in silver…

As for bars, I do have a Stooge Moto bar, and will try them. Thought we would go for flats to start with

Ah, I forgot that truss forks require some odd headset configurations.
Bars are such a personal thing anyway. I always felt comfier with bigger backsweep on my Stooge.

    I don’t get it… at all…. but it’s beautifully put together and looks fantasitc…

I’d hate to ride it though.

You don’t have to get it, but it works. You’re welcome to try my Mk4 when it arrives. It’ll be built up very similarly but with the Junker bar (820 wide, 20 degree sweep :D ). They work well on our local trails.

Thing of beauty! I really like that. Nice build (apart from the silver headset & bars ;) ).
I’d get some Stooge moto bars on it and a black headset.
Can’t wait to get my Mk4.

    Gelert- completely agree.
It got to a point were I would only use NDT as I knew they had what I wanted at the right price.
Great resource with all the details you need to make your choice. Quick postage really helped too. Do it @benpinnick !

That would be the S150 I’m buying.
How did he treat it ;) ?

    Damn, i’m torn.
My new S150 is boost, but my Stooge Mk4 is standard through axles.
If only these were none boost and I could fit boostinators, then I could share the wheelset.

I’m just about to buy a S-150 CRS too, so curious what people think.

Get onto this though- £225 will get you a wheelset & tyres!

I really like Chris Harris, just not on Top Gear. He’s overly scripted and plays a part in Matt’s relationship.

Just watch some of ‘Chris Harris Drives’ on Youtube. He’s like a James May that can driver very well.

I recently spent a day at a bike park with 3 ladies.
Very skilled and fast. They all rode ‘mens’ bikes.
Didn’t seem to hold them back and they got on with the geo.
Main reason to stick to mens bikes is none garish colours and higher discounts.

I think the bloke on IG is taking it lightly. You would be very pissed off if you parted with your cash and invest in that company when you could have gone elsewhere, to now be messed about like that. Just the arrogance of 1- sending the wrong shit in hope the customer would be satisfied, 2- not giving a toss to reply. I’m surprised it hasn’t gone more public yet.

    Anyone got the link?

That is good news! Wonder what ‘repair the paintwork’ means.. repair effected area? New front triangle?

I got a whole new frame when my Whyte did similar!

    cokie

    I’d be annoyed too.
It’s a new bike so I’d not expect paint to flake off from removing the tape.
It’s not different to buying any other new product- I don’t mind it getting marked over time, but it would annoy me to be marked out of the box (unless stated as such and the price reflecting it).

I did the 100km on my Whyte T129. It was overkill.
If I had the choice, it would be a 29er XC FS, like the Anthem.
I’d want some comfort over than distance

    cokie

Yeah, that’s the biggest issue for me.
Most of the bikes listed here require a payment to test ride, other’s just aren’t available to test ride anywhere. It leaves you in the dark even though you have a potential £3.5k to spend.

There’s some weighty bits in there then!
A 2.4 kg wheelset & 616g cassette- that suprises me.
How does the cable routing look? Well thought out or some bits that could rub?

What’s your plans for the bits you’ve taken off? PM me if you decide to sell.
