The staff on Wiggle say it’s a 20mm internal width (check Q&As).

My LBS charges £120 for this service if internally routed cables.
This seems pretty reasonable to me.
Not had to use it, but looked it up for a friend.

I got one from Ben @ Bird very very quickly recently.
Worth contacting him. Very fast communication normally.

Used to love the old classifieds. Was like a permanent bike jumble that would real me in on a daily basis.

This! I was on it all the time. Buying and selling bits. You could dive into a posters forum ativity and see what else they were selling too.

I used to sell 85% of stuff I posted on the classifieds. Recently I haven’t even had any interest here.

I don’t even bother looking at it now. It’s FB, PB & Ebay for me.

    Bring back the Bike Jumble!

BTW, if it helps, I’m doing this from another angle today, running round trying to get an already MOTed, but untaxed car insured, which would be dead easy, if it weren’t for the fact that it was imported and heavily modified, and at least 2 specialist insurers that I’ve previously used have told me to not even bother going through the rigmarole with them as they won’t be able to provide a decent quote…

Ohh, what is it @submarined ?

I went with Whyte S150. I was a little worried initially with the 150mm travel but it actually climbs better than my T130 and T129 did, with the added benefit of being amazing when you point it down. Modern trail bikes are so capable.

Genuine question- these cost around £24k, plus the appropriate car and associated costs. These are too big to do anything but book a pitch at a campsite/caravan park for £30-50/night. You also need a big house to store the thing, or pay for storage.

After all the above hastle, is it not cheaper and more conveniant to rent a tin tent, book an airbnb or other accomodation? Plus you’ll get there faster, have more space on the drive and more money in the bank. It’s a cool piece of kit, don’t get me wrong. I’m just curious what the attraction of this is for you.

No cycle helemt will turn a life threatening injury into no injury – they are simply incapable of this. the forces involved are too big.

You can’t say that. All it takes is a badly placed object or certain amount of force in a specific place or an edge case, and a helmet would turn a life threating injury into no injury. Prove me otherwise.

It’s an odd perspective to have.. but maybe Helmets are just a ‘marekting’ campaing to drive sales.
Do you drive a car without airbags or seatbelts too?
Do you not wear gloves/respirators when dealing with hazardouse substances?

He’s out on his bike and waiting for the crane to arrive so he can get it over a 5ft locked gate.

Nah, I heard he ran out of battery so he’s hooked it up to an electric fence to charge. The cows aren’t impressed.

    7. 4 wheels need aligning + a new shock absorbers + 4 discs & new pads + new exhaust

I had the shocks, aligning & brakes when I had my two front tyres changed despite everything being fine.

Reminds me of a horrible winter ride I had- freezing weather, puddles everywhere and super slippery with a headwind. I was grinding my teeth, head down, suppressing tears and trying to get some feel back into my feet whilst making meager progress. An older chap on a E-FS flew past with a smile. I’ve never wanted an ebike more.

I’ve got a sweat tooth and love a doughnut pre-breakfast when the other half is still asleep and I bimble around the house. Can be swapped/accompanied by chocolate biscuits and profiteroles when they’re available. I can hit 600 calories before breakfast.. Apparently I’m a weirdo.

My other half is Russian and she often has rye bread with a thick slice of butter covered in sugar.

If you become too selective in the people you want to stay you get marked down by AirBnb & bumped from being higher up the ratings.

Didn’t know that. Seems a shame to be penalized for being cautious.
It does seem an odd algorithm- when I’ve searched in areas it displays ‘x’ results- most werent of interest, so when I zoom in closer I get a different series of result that are more suited to us! Better ratings, closer to desired price and ticks all the filters. I assume they’ve been penalized. Really annoying as you miss out on some excellent properties.

Dog owner and serial Air BnB user- I hate hotels and like the broader range of locations and quirky places available on air bnb, plus it’s providing money to locals.

I think it comes down to the individuals. You’ll have some dog owners who will leave and you’ll not even know they’ve visited, and then you’ll have non-dog owners who are able to trash the place in a week- and vice versa. If anything, dog owners tend to be well disciplined as they walk the dog first thing/last thing and tend to tidy up to keep everything manageable.

You can predicted what a fellow human can do! Only accept stays if they have a strong feedback score from numerous people.

To be fair, I had a Trek Superfly XC race bike and that was incredibly uncomfortable. I swapped over to a 120mm trail HT and it was far more comfortable. Bigger rubber, more travel & comfier riding position. Still, an FS bike is much comfier than any HT.

    Bloody hell – slight correction it’s a Solaris Max I’m talking about…

I think that’s what he meant.
The SolarisMAx LS has a 73.4/7° SA in 140/130mm, which is fairly slack given the all round nature of the bike. The SodaMax is the same geo but in Ti.

I got rid of my SolarisMax LS for a few different reasons.

The positives- the bike is unbelievably quick for a HT when pointing down. I think the length and geometry gave real stability when you pick up speed. When you got up to speed it would carry you through rutted trails nicely. At the bike park I could ride trails that a HT has no right to ride (especially with me piloting it)- rock gardens, big doubles, drop downs. Sure it was hard work, but it got me through. Again, I think it was that long shot geometry.

The negatives- climbing is best described as winching. It never climbed well. I think it’s down the slack SA. I could really feel being over the back wheel. I noticed it when changing initially but then got used to it, but when I tried other bikes it really brought back to me how slow it climbed. It was hard work on the big days over previous/new bikes. Playfulness is a big factor for me as I like manualing, popping & kicking the back out. The Solaris really didn’t like it. It was so long and stable that it felt more like a serious point and shoot bike rather than having fun on your way down. The only reason I was left with a grin on this bike was the sheer speed it carried and obstacles it got you through, not because I had fun popping of this and carving that. The build quality of the frame wasn’t fantastic. I had burs in the seat tube that made a mess of my brand new dropper. Some of the tubes didn’t sit flush (top tube to seat tube) so aesthetically it wasn’t perfect. The paint was also a little brittle in dark metal and it picked up more marks. Looked lovely at a distance though.

Not helpful, but I swapped to a Whyte S150CRS and it really highlighted the shortcomings outlined above. It climbs/descends better and more importantly, it’s playful! It’s all my own opinion though so those attributes above could be well suited to you and ultimately you need to go for a test ride.

Was just doing analysis on Socialblade for something unrelated which reminded me of Sick, so i had a quick look at their profile.

Turns out they’ve gained a bit a bit of traction recently and continuing their substantial growth. All publicity is good publicity, right? Meanwhile the Pinbike saga continues

Still think you should work on some of the other designs!
I should think you could add another £2 to the price to raise even more money.

Whyte S150 C RS – Really rate mine. It’s easier to climb than my old Cotic SolarisMax LS & Whyte T130RS and descends incredibly well. It’s just got the right geometry I think. Not the lightest thing in the world, but I think most of the fat is in the wheels.

There’s a new One Up stem announced that lets you use the EDC tool without tapping the stem.

These look good, but fail on the ‘Notify me when this product is available’- you need to select a stem colour/length before it lets you signup for the notification, but you can’t select out of stock items..

Surprised no one has created a simpler competitor for the EDC tool.

    Mines arrived- spot on!
There was demand for some of the other designs.. why not add them to the shop and see how many people go for it with the same caveat as the re-order number.

Disappointing at the amount of tape used. There was enough there to turn a wheel tubeless ;)

Unless I am mistaken, which is probably the case, there is nothing on the market available as frame only that has:
    – Lightweight Alu Frame
    – 100-120 fork
    – 480-500 reach in XL
    – 68 degree head angle
    – 29×2.4/6 clearance
    – Internal routing (sorry but I like the clean lines)
I hope the new Scandal can be all this… in a clearcoat/ raw kind of way.

Whyte have shot themselves in the foot again with selling completes only.
Their 629 & 529 (same frame) have all those covered, plus through axles. Although fantastic price complete, they could be super competitive if they where frame only.
I might get another 529 as a winter hardtail.

    Indeed, small world!
Enough of us locally to arrange a group ride.
    I’d be up for that.

    Yes, I’m local.
    There is absolutely tons there.
    You’ve got ;
    – Penwood
    – Newtown Common
    – Burghclere Common
    – Snelsmoor Common
    – Hermitage Woods
    – Curridge Woods
    – Ash hamsptead Common
    – The Ridgeway

In fact there is hundreds of miles of trails and singletrack that join up with minimal road to connect them from your doorstep. Spoiled for choice!

Local riding club ‘Buckled Wheel’ is a good bunch, and also the Banjo Cycles group rides are good fun. It’s best to join them for a few rides to discover the hidden bits. I still can’t find some of it by myself.

It’s not epic singletrack as elevation is limited, but much of it is on par or better than Swinley.

I thought this was a thread about Cotics geometry and how it’s not suited to tight switchbacks and messing about in the woods. I’m disappointed.

I can’t imagine any of this is any more sinister than online banter/ keyboard warriors.
I’ve never seen any type of rider calling out another type of rider in real life.. unless he’s being a ****.
