Definately not the clutch, definately is the flywheel.

    Sorry….

And you work that out… how….? (Although technically a DMF failure will include clutch issues by the fact that they’re bolted together).

and it’s not that or the OP would have mentioned the car sitting in neutral sounding like the Battle of Hastings was taking place under the bonnet.

Spluttered into my coffee then, awesome.

That’s it. I’m going to have to buy one. I don’t feel complete without the ability to make things properly!

I had similar experience with a mondeo and at first thought it was the clutch but turned out to be a split in the pipe between the turbo and egr. Engine was losing boost so felt sluggish in the rev range when the turbo would usually kick in. Revs
going up but without the usual kick in performance. Worth checking as much cheaper than a clutch.

Won’t be the hose if the revs are rising without the speed changing proportionately – it’s just not physically possible unless the clutch is slipping. What you’re describing is just a loss of torque.

Doesn’t stop it being a fluid leak onto the clutch. Especially if it tends to stop doing it after a lot of start-stop driving.

Indeed, you were instructed by him to do that – what happened at his end is not your fault or problem.

In a manual car, if the revs rise and speed doesn’t match (and the wheels are not spinning) it IS the clutch. No further questions needed. It’s the only thing that would possibly allow dissociation of the transmission and engine to allow that symptom to occur. If the needle is moving and the revs are not actually rising then it could be a whole heap of things, especially if associated with a drop of torque.

+15 for the cassette :) Had to replace a 200 mile old XTR cassette once because it had worn massively, so nearly new means nowt. Skipping at the front really rarely (but not never) happens due to the higher tooth count engaged with the chain.

Quite frankly I think there are far more distracting things on the road and in a car and what we need to address is people’s inability to follow rules, drive with care and attention or take driving seriously (rather than just driving on automatic). There is no logical difference between someone on a handsfree phone or someone in the back seat, unless of course you’re a complete moron and for some reason change the way you deal with conversations when having one on the handsfree.

We need to stop focusing on what we can ban and start focusing on how we can educate people to drive better.

I have no problem with the charge, too many people park dangerously. Yes there is reason to think the driversare at fault too but bear in mind we have no parking on many nsl roads for a reason and you should notpark anywhere it would cause people to have to violate a solid white line.

If the lorry owner realised it was dangerous he was daft to park there. And leaving his engine running was illegal too.

I’m really enjoying it to be honest, it seems to make the ideal cup for my tastes but I’ve not tried some of the super-expensive machines some people on here have. It requires a fine grind (if I buy normal ground I re-grind it but I’ve been buying beans for a long time now) but the end result can be tempered to your taste so it’s pretty adaptable. I’m not sure it’d be miles different from an aeropress. Shot size is about 150ml max, which means that for a large mug full it’s a bit on the lean side and needs a second shot, but it’s fast and reliable so far. You get huge leverage with the arm length, they reckon you can generate up to about 9 bar. End result is indistinguishable from a good coffee shop coffee IMO, but the milk frother is a PITA and needs a re-design (I’ll be submitting drawings to them soon, I’m that pee’d off!). I only paid £80 for the whole thing new, so it wasn’t a huge investment in comparison with the RRP!

Because taps have different valving strategies, differing seal materials (cheap taps can have seals that swell and block the flow as they heat up) and some are just badly designed. Much like bikes, you can buy tat, you can buy tat dressed as bling, you can buy great stuff cheap and you can buy expensive stuff that’s great.

Left my cars overnight in the bath street ncp several times, no peons. Usually manned and secured but recently doesn’t seem to have been so, worth checking. Tbh car crime in Glasgow seems pretty low compatriot other places I’ve lived

OP asks for more seats than an MX5

    That’s why I suggested a:

4 doors, 260ish hp 4wd with torsen diffs, kiddy compatible, safe, looks nice, available from about 2k ish.

3.5k service intervals hurt but fun enough to justify.

If I only had 2k to spare I would put my crisis on hold, personally. You can buy plenty of reliable, nippy fun for 2k (Celica GT4 for example) that will be in perfectly usable condition but its not a crisis car. A crisis car is an Esprit V8, or a TVR. I’ve already started designing/building my crisis car. Might have it finished for my 40s.

Never strikes me as necessary, it’s so rare that it snows deep enough to cause an issue that people are just careful for that short time. The Elderly couple near us seem to have no issues getting about in the snow and ice, and I don’t either.

The pavements far more often become lethally slippy with ice (rain, then freezing is FAR more common) but we don’t expect everyone to go outside and thaw the street outside their home.

The bigger question is why are people so pathetic that half the country comes to a grinding halt in an inch of snow? Madness and general hysteria perpetuated by the media making everyone think it’s worse than it is. Get on with it, get over it and stop whining. If you know someone with particular issues (no legged, underweight 90 year olds) then keep an eye on them and ask if you can help out. Somewhat simpler than mobilising the entire country to clean up a few inches of snow on a pavement that few use.

Wow Spongebob, you must have one hell of a disfunctional relationship with women. Can’t say I’ve ever had such experience, I mean I know there’s a general assumption that blokes just get on with stuff but if I was ever to admit it I can’t think of a single female in my life who wouldn’t listen and help. I wish you more luck in future!

As for suicide in general – I have no experience. I can’t help but think that if it happened in my work it would probably be “dropped” from conversation pretty quick though, most people get over things by dealing with them initially and then shelving them – can’t imagine why you’d want to dwell on the subject.

Who knows, but I’m fairly sure I wouldn’t feel the need to tell someone I sold something to and posted the items to that I was going away as I’d take the simply assumption that it would get there no problem, which is what happens most of the time. However, I can see the receiver might find it highly worrying if I didn’t reply.

The International Space Station gets pretty cold ( less than -100 degs C) and that is made of Aluminium Alloy and Titanium, so I think we’re fine. The al alloys that decent bike frames are made from are very similar to that used on aircraft, which again get pretty cold, certainly colder than you’d consider riding in.

Orbital loading of the ISS is tiny, not even a remotely comparable application! Add to that the fact that alloys massively change properties with heat treatments and are very customisable, that’s a generalisation you really can’t make, unless you were a mechanical engineer working on a chunk of the ISS?

That said, I’ve never found myself considering my frame strength in the cold, even when I had a carbon full sus. I know that most decent composite resins will cope happily down to -40 and the fibres themselves will too. I have never considered the DBTT of steel for reasons of assuming most manufacturers would have the brains to avoid steels with high DBTT, plus the coldest I’ve seen the UK where I’ve been has been -17, and my primary worry was brake freeze and freehub pawl freeze, and neither was a problem.

HEavy vehicles get more traction in the snow generally. But also have more momentum, making them harder to stop.

It is a bit embarrassing how easily the victim mentality comes out and people cower at home.

There are plenty of people who’ve spend 4 years of their lives studying for a good high quality technical degree who can’t get any more than 19K. Plenty of them work 10-12 hour days, unpaid overtime, high stress jobs too. (not that I am putting forward a “deserving” argument, just that I don’t think the police have it any worse than anyone else).

Only thing I ever buy from a “real” shop these days is clothes, coffee, RC things model shops and food. I hate going shopping, always have. I will avoid going to a high street if at all possible. Maybe I’m the epitome of all that’s wrong?
