I honestly can’t remember what padded shorts she has at the moment, might be fox.

Hannah, I think that’s whats shes after more than anything, a discussion with someone who understands. I’m not qualified!

I feel bad, I’d been into Vankru for discussions about a training plan for a sdw double attempt (im in BW) but never followed through on it due to house moves etc.

Have to say folks, thanks for the advice! Im in work but hopefully she’s reading at home.

We’ve measured properly for the sit bones using the foam method so we’ve got the proper width.

Thanks for all the info. I’ve sent her the link so she’ll be able to follow up on everything.

We’ve played around with the saddle. Nose down, slide back and forward on the rails etc. Still not really worked though the nose down did for a few rides. Salisbury is 45 min flashie so thats a good shout.

I’ve been in to Vankru myself (its 3 miles away!) but my wife feels she’d be more comfortable talking through the issues with a female.

I’m absolutely torn on this too. We could sell our home and move back to Scotland and be mortgage free. Get part time low stress jobs and ride, hike, run to our hearts content. Live the pipe dream, but……..

We’re both fortunate that we love our slightly (80%) part time jobs. We live comfortably within our means, have a great group of friends in a Nice village in Hampshire and our daughter has just started school.

I’d love to fulfill the dream I had as a teenager but life got in the way. Fortunately its a good one.

BUT! As soon as I’ve booted her out the door at 18 all options will be on the table.😁

I’ve been using a TRX kit since lockdown started and I’ve been impressed.

Always enjoyed cycling/running but hated any form of core/weights. Now I’m just as happy doing either and I can feel the all round benefit.

Air traffic controller, or as my aircraft engineer mates say, the one who turns the traffic lights in the sky on and off. There’s a reason they’re engineers…….

I’ve got a couple of Silverstick hoodies. Think they’re Brighton based. Easily as hard wearing as the 2 Cathcart I have.

A bit pricey but by far the comfiest is BAM. only had it since Christmas so can’t comment on the hard wearing side.

I’ve still got a couple of North face ones which are at least 15 years old. They’ve been relegated to gardening/painting duties though.

Lyneham was supposed to be tri-service but from what I hear the Navy wanted it at sultan and the RAF wanted to do their own thing (as usual) so they pulled out leaving the army on their own.

Mind you, bordon (the reason I left) and Arborfield were pretty miserable. Mates say Lyneham is spot on.

So far I’ve used the cycle routes website to work out a route to Matlock. I’ve tweaked it to suit my needs then created a gpx. Downloaded it then reopened it in the OS App and saved the route.

I now have flight safe mode navigation on my handle bar mounted phone.

Now to figure out the best way to Carlisle……

@midlifecrashes I think that would be a good shout. I’ll look into it but I’ll only have 2 weeks to do it so might have to stay on a more direct route.

@fatmountain that looks spot on. I was thinking of bailing at Appleby and heading to Carlisle from there. There’s a good printable guide as well so I’ll have a nosey at that too.

I know its maybe not in the spirit of it but I prefer my climbs on road and descents on the bumpy stuff. 😀

BHF route was wheely down to warnford then up the road to old winch hill. I’m local and that route makes sense to me if going eastbound.

Westbound I’d do old winch hill off road descent then road route up beacon hill.

Count zero, when aircraft fly in formation they have to abide by certain rules. Being within a certain distance of each other and within sight of the flight leader are examples. If that’s the case then only the flight leader has their transponder on, hence why you only see 1 Knife call sign. They are then treated as one aircraft by ATC.

If for any reason the rules for flying in formation cannot be met, it will break up and all aircraft will then switch their transponder on and be assigned an individual transponder code. They will then be treated as individual aircraft.

Formation flights are allowed in controlled airspace but only if there are certain conditions met.

Kuco, I work a lot of traffic in and out of lakenheath/mildenhall. I’ve had to look at the Icao airport destination then Google it. I’ve never heard of these places.

Maccruiskeen, shit you not, I was there the day they filmed that over ballochmyle viaduct. Spoke to the 2nd unit director as well.

Wed been shooting our BB guns down at the river when the helicopters turned up and landed just next to kingencleuch castle. Still remember thinking that the red one looked tiny.

Director told us he was filming a tom cruise film and we just laughed and said no chance.

Good trails at the golf course apparently…. don’t live local any more so can’t confirm.

    I hope so to Dan.

Every time I’ve transferred someone and they’ve said “hopefully speak soon” or “take care of yourself” its made me quite sad.

Finish furlough early March so gonna bandbox sectors to keep the concentration up.

    Take care.

Father in law has a diamond at Oxford. Is allowed 1 engine health flight a month within a 10 mile radius of the aerodrome but TK wanted him to stay within the circuit. He told them that wouldn’t do.

As for ATC. Many have been furloughed so CAA have changed our currency from 14hrs (good quality) a month to 24hrs over the next 3 months.

Its VERY quiet, as you would expect. I’ve been furloughed for 3 weeks but 2 weeks ago, when I was last in, there were more controllers in the room than there were planes in controlled airspace…..in the whole of the uk.

    Air traffic control officer.

Not much flying to be fair but the sky’s need to stay open and safe. Some sad non standard conversations with pilots

Feel a bit if a fraud. Got friends in the NHS…..

I do my main planning on OS maps then plot the route on the OS app on my phone.

I’ve got a garmin fenix so if I want to, I use the dynamic watch app to open up the route and it is then displayed on the watch.

It’s a faff to set up but I used it for even small local rides so that I got quickly used to it. It’s now second nature.

Maxxis crossmarks. Commuted for 2 years with them set up tubeless. No punctures.

Almost solid centre line so with high pressure they are pretty fast on tarmac

Good enough side grip to get through waterlogged farmers fields.

If you sign up to the Norrona website, you get to access the outlet page. Some really expensive kit not as expensive as it was.

I questioned a united airlines that was going to San Fran from Heathrow. The reason being his flight plan was very unusual because he was flying out over East Anglia towards norway. Normally it’s via Scotland.

I’m paraphrasing but his reply was, “some smart ass in flight planning filed the route for us. We doubled checked it but they’re right. Because of the winds they’ve saved us 1.5hrs!”

Track miles it was longer to go via Norway and the pole but there was a hoofing southerly wind up over norway.

Anyway, I’ll put my anorak back on.

By the way Stoner, my cousin lives in the Essert Romand area across from Montriond. He’s lived across the Alps for the best part of 30 years but for the past 2 years he’s been managing/setting up/God knows what a company in Morzine.

On the chefs night off we all went to Alba bar in st Jean d’aulps. Haggis bon bons with an Indian twist is my new favourite mountain food.

    Thanks!

I sent pictures of the x-ray to doctor friend who showed them to a couple of orthopaedic surgeons at her hospital. They said it’s broken in a good place (tib not fib) and shouldn’t need pinned. We’ll find out wed when we go to Southampton for our appointment.

I was concerned she would be put off. Spoke to her ESF instructor and she was really sad that Sophie got injured. Said that she was doing great (got her 2nd badge!) And that if we went back next year, she’d love to teach her. When I told Sophie this, she said when her leg gets better shed like to ski again and have the same instructor. Hopefully that positivness continues!

Just back from ardent and it was just like NZCol describes.

Did lap the Swiss wall on Thurs as the powder, skiers left, was pretty awesome.

Unfortunately our 4 year old broke her leg on Friday whilst going through the stash. Obvs not on the features, but by this point the snow was very heavy and wet.

Friday lunch time spent in morzine medical centre. Thankfully my cousin has lived in the alps for 25 years so was in morzine anyway for translation and help.

Not that we would have skied Saturday because of the little one but It looked warm, wet and miserable!

I bought a TowWhee for my 4 year old and her Cnoc 16.

Tested it on long rides in the new forest and she loves it. I bought a couple of caribeners so it’s very quick to take on and off and loops round your head set for easy storage.

I’d recommend it for bike packing. Only issue maybe if you’ve large saddle bags. The towwhee hooks over the nose of the saddle so if the little one weaves around it may foul the bags.

    Think I’m ok.

Positive lead test in 4 small patches (postage stamp size or smaller) where there was a knot in the wood and the sandpaper took more off.

Also checked some dust samples and the actual walls and they were all negative.

I’m sure there is no risk to the little one. Going to Hoover the room until it’s dust free then crack on.

    Lesson learned……

I’m pretty sure I didn’t go as deep as the lead layer and certainly didn’t go as deep as the wood. We’ve got a lead testing kit coming today so I’ll look then.
