30 sqm AlexSimon, most allowed here without planning permisson.
Had to be 3 feet from my boundry fence so i did a clever thing building it 4 feet from my boundry fence, laying 4×2 slabs and have a roofed log shed along side which is open at back to dry logs, and a dirty area behind with vice for grinding, sawing logs etc :wink:Still to roof the wash bay at the front, it even has a mesh top gutter that drains, sorted!.
The fence posts with 4×2 benches look good!.
I have 8 x 6 foot long posts doing nothing, i need to build something! :DcoastkidFree Memberjerrys – Member
coastkid – I’ve also got a blue 2013 CdF.What’s the rear mudguard, is it also a Cyrca? I’ve currently borrowed the one I put on my old Kona Fire Mountain (1992) but it’s a little short!
Rear guard is a Zefal road rear; Zefal Road Rear Guard[/url]
Clean and dry ass after 50 miles with a lot of puddles! :-)
coastkidFree MemberBike has a Cycra Guard, flatter and wider than a Crud front so better for road bikes tighter clearance.
First bought them for the fatbikes as wider too; CycraGuard MTB frontVital Spark lives up in the middle of that ride and rides here too so be up for a bit of this roughstuff on his crosser!
loads of this stuff around East Lothian :-)coastkidFree Membertechnicallyinept – Member
Pics and some waffle on the blog;

coastkidFree MemberNothing personal Kcr! :-)
Just what i have witnesed by big group rides. And there was red white and black ERC shirts in the majority, It is of no worries to myself being an offroad cyclist. Just what i have observed myself. And friends too who ride on the road and some offroad.
I linked this thread on my facebook page earlier and there was a lot of folks in agreement aout the issues of large groups on the roads around here.
Thanks for you “non militant” reply :-)coastkidFree MemberMRC do indeed race and stick by the Highway Code on East Lothians (
Our
Al )roadscode Stanfree, I rememmber drafting Nobby on my C50 around the coast road when 16 and only just keeping up! :lol:coastkidFree MemberThanks Colin!, do you ERC guys want some video evidence to prove this?
No probs, happy to film these idiots on our roads!.I watched a ERC group ride down from Drem towards Fenton Barnes, and from the Airfield i heard the swearing at car drivers which was unreal after a car beeped its horn at them!
Sick and tired of folk saying to me “Oh your a cyclist!, are you one of those guys that hog across the roads etc..”
Local police have had a lot of complaints about this non competition group cycling behaviour from the public and are looking into it..
Even on here the ERC replies smell of militant agression!- what a bunch of assholes!
And sadly it will prob end in a cyclists life, not a ERC rider, caused by the frustration of a car driver that is not necessary
coastkidFree MemberSounds like someone forgot to stick a returns form inside?
3 boxes this week from CRC, all with return slips :-)Support your local bike shops?, i did… and they did not support the customer!… CRC, Merlin, and SJS Cycles get my business :-)
coastkidFree MemberERC must be really friendly to go on runs with, as they ride 5 or 6 abreast down here on East Lothians roads busy and narrow A and B roads so they can chat and have some banter i imagine – the tail backs of fans in cars behind following is legendary
Totally peeing off-then being militant and abusive to car drivers they illeagally hold up!
Funny how off duty policemen and other “Professional?” people can behave like that once on a bicycle  :wink:coastkidFree MemberMy dad is in a nursing home, 14 months now. Suffered a stroke, lost leg mobility so in a wheel chair. Dad is still compos mentos upstairs but needed care and help my mum could not do on her own. He is looked after well. Great nurses and carers but in a home. Never imagined that happening.
That is the worst thing. It is like a bereavment you do not get over.
But my dad is still alive and switched on. Cannot put a price on that compard to some residents in the Home.
I visit dad and show him my blog-it`s become his eyes of around the county he used to see before he retired when he was East Lothians first, then senior Countryside Ranger (first Countryside Ranger in Scotland).
Many of us do things because of our fathers, everything i do is my dads fault!, every minute you can spend with your dad is a minute to treasure… :-)coastkidFree MemberGPS “follow me” is possible, staying away from powerlines
As i said were working on something cool  bloody winds are holding things up! :-)
coastkidFree MemberMy friend Gary is handy with his copters… :-)
Fatbike film coming soon
A new view of the Harvest!
And a whole new angle on plouging!
coastkidFree MemberAny Tyres with Larry on them are perfect for sand, sandy/loam surfaces,
I also use Nates and ideal once onto mud flats or salt marshes,
Defo go 2x 9 or 2×10 if you want to ride through dunes, make the most of where these bikes can go :-)Air the tyres down to around 8-9 psi
coastkidFree MemberBeen blogging 6 years now. Same old, same old, not just fatbike stuff
Always something new to see or write about when out and about ; coastriderLoads of good blogs out there to read, written by regular folks doing regular stuff and many are very interesting, scroll through the blog labels on my link for some good writers and photographers :-)
coastkidFree MemberBeen going 6 years now..
A lot of East Lothian coastal cycling,so some fatbike stuff, but also riding regular trails and singletrack, and other related stuff inc local history, old roads, WW2 stuff, art, skys, scenery etc… plenty pics and waffle
Usually updated twice a week, seems to average 750-1000 views daily, too many folks with too much spare time! :mrgreen:coastkidFree MemberNowt wrong with dogs out alongside, Here is Mowgli, a Springer that is hyper about bikes!, he also runs alongside my Girlfriends horses for 40km rides no probs, he ignores all other people and their dogs!, he just lives for the running!
Take dogs over spoilt wee brat children outdoors anyday!
Horses are cool too to ride along with :-)
coastkidFree MemberNo, but some else here in the UK is giving me a raw frame to test ride in the spring hopefully :-) the more the merrier!
coastkidFree MemberAll this (looking down)Driest County in Scotland… :-)
Give me a buzz if your visiting these parts and fancy seeing some of our coastal stuff :-)
On the ground…
click on the cog thingy to view in HDLocal hills have some great gravel shooting tracks, and some nice bits of singletrack if you know where to look, also some nice all weather trails like this…
Miles of sandy single track above the coastline…
Miles of sandy loam singletrack inland a bit…
Back on the coast we got dunes…
And miles of techie rocks on the coast at low tide below that flat sandy stuff folk say is boring to ride on those freakin fatbikes
And if you don`t like sand and like roots…
coastkidFree MemberRide North on the Southern Upland Way (SUW) in this wet weather, then follow the SUW east onto the Lammermuir hills to Twin Law carins-where you can ride around the Watch resovoir and access the Gravel road of the Pylon track… not that exciting but it is always drained and rideable.
As mentioned there is always Glenstress :wink:coastkidFree MemberThats a good load trout! :-)
The dual wheels stop the front end lifting if overladed i imagine?
The BOB trailers do this until underway if overloadedHauled some wood off the coast today with the FatBOB trailer!, some nice Oak washed into John Muir Bay from the recent Tyne river spate after the heavy rains :-)
Hauling wood is a great work out and free heating for the house!

coastkidFree MemberA fun day out :-)
Someone left a Craft glove in the wash bay-its other half will be feeling lonely :(All Sanny`s pics until Seacliff on the blog-er seemed to have missed the last few on the JMW home
The peedo pic of Sanny with Garys glasses on is real scary!
coastkidFree MemberThanks aa, how many?, dunno if i can answer that yet! :D
It is a hell of an addiction
coastkidFree MemberI have had 2500 miles out a rear Larry, 3000 on the front/
Now using Nates which have have done 1500+ miles and still mint, so the extra price is not an issue, not when compared to when i used to have several different tyre types when i rode DH and trail centres. The 29+ wheelset if it fits your fatbike is a great option to have, gives you two bikes in one that rides quite different with each wheelset.
The 29+ i prefer for regular trails as faster and lighter but more comfortable than my regular 2.25 rigid 29er.
While i prefer 4″ fat for off the beaten track. 4″ fat is still more grin inducing!
Needing the chunky 29+ Dirt Wizards to arrive now for winter! :-)coastkidFree Memberepicyclo – Member
Anyone who can’t see the need for a granny ring on a fatbike hasn’t ridden in deep enough snowYep, or Moorland peat and heather, loose shale, slate, shingle on the coast, wet sand, and sandy single track through dunes, also black volcanic pebble steep shorelines, in fact anywhere you struggle to ride a regular MTB to the point of being a slog and miserable :-)
Fatbikes are not replacements for MTBs, but to carry on where they struggle and stop..
coastkidFree MemberHi Andy :-)
Yep its just another option of bike…
5 years and over 10,000 niles of fatbikes and it is indeed a great bike, not a replacement for a MTB but a fun alternative.
I ride a 3″ 29+, 4″ regular, and 5″ 100mm rim Moonlander, and all are as differant to a 4″, 5″ and 6″ travel full suss MTB,Not for everyone but don`t judge before riding one where a regular MTB struggles and becomes a slog, then they make sense… :-)
coastkidFree Member“campkoala”
Troll…
Don`t feed the Trolls
Sounds like GW is back on STW
OP still looking for the Russia fatbikes! :-)

There is no point other than to make normal people cringe. They’re here solely to make the bell ends stand out so we can avoid them.Correction. Thats two points then..
What a bell end this guy is!
sheck they are not the best thing for sticky clay. You are correct in what you say.
We have some of said sticky stuff here in East Lothian – despite being the sandy loam soil based driest place in Scotland (and home to approx 46 fatbikes!)
It will clag and drag them down, but they were never designed with clay in mind!.John Climber sums them up pretty well,
Beach riding around here is only about 10 percent of a days riding on flat wet sand despite what most of the STW haterz seem to think it is all like when they see a pic of riders on flat sand.
Always easier to snap a pic while riding on flat stuff thn techie rocks and sweeping singletrack.
Most of our riding is on sandy single track with some real soft stuff which is near impossible to stay upright on a regular MTB.And that does not mean it is slow going either, we honk on along these trails. Those who came along to Forth Fat will say what coastal cycling is like with the amazing trails above the coast line and loose rocks and pebbles and exposed rock shelfs at low tides, techy riding and a whole new door opens to what and where is possible to ride a bicycle. And that is some of the fun of these bikes.
Great on peat moorland too. Low impact having a shallower footprint than a human, something i think is very important which no fatbike manufacturer seems interested in. When you look at the damage caused in the Pentland hills here near Edinburgh over the years.
Cheviot hills is ace for them, despite the weight of around 35 lbs you can ride 40 – 50 miles in a day easy, does not compute but these things dont stall as easy on stuff and just keep motoring on over stuff.Trail centres and fast trails? 29+ is the way to go, watch the manufacturers jump on this once they have done the 4″ tyre thing…
“Trail Geometry fat bikes” is something that cracks me up .
All fatbikes are ok on trails in the UK!,
And no geometry will avoid the advantages in grip of wider lower pressure tyres to uncontrolled rebound of wider lower pressure tyres.I think the UK based fatbike manufacturers have missed a big trick ignoring coastal cycling for UK fatbikes.
Err you not noticed we live on an island of thousands of miles of coastline?Genesis are heading the right way with their Caribou, recognising all types of terrain from sand, snowm to other UK conditions.
Bike packing off the beaten track – something you can do all over the UK inland or on the coast and here on the Islands. I like their non bull approach too.Riding any option of fatbike 3″ 29+ and the fatter 4″ and 5″ tyres make you grin like an idiot when you ride them, even when no one is around for miles,
That i cannot answer except that they are so much fun as all owners of them also say.
If you don`t find them fun then you may as well go play golf… :-)coastkidFree MemberThere are also Russian made fatbikes, in Ti frame only, and a budget steel complete, will try look out the link and post it up for you :-)
coastkidFree MemberNice Coz, ML – The sand and rock crawling king Period.
No need for snow,
You bringing that to Forth Fat 14 Coz? :-)
