wierd, that falcon racer looks exactly like a 87 pugeot triathlon racer in the loft of my garage!
    see…

nice old black shadow..load of bollocks on that top gear race with the vincint vs the rocket steam train vs jag.. the vincint didnt even get opened up!,would blow the doors of any jag including the e-type,my mates uncle has one and he rides it how it should be,blew away my TTR600r belgrada yamaha and its got a 660 kit in it!,some nice pics there…

I run the front at 9.5psi without a problem (digi gauge and yes I've got an anorak)
been down to 4.5psi a few times! 9-11psi ideal,
anoracks are good at this time of year :-)

I know they're expensive, but how do you feel when random strangers just point and laugh at you?

I had that once riding a Whyte Preston, it still bothers me now

i get that having (i think) the only surly pugsley in scotland..i dont like to make folk eat humble pie but this now..in this weather..im still out riding.(moving forward)but i just invite mockers to come for a beachride with me..,normal bikes just dont go where these do,im a fan of jones bikes..i like them but they are pricey but no more than some full sussers..,

Coastkid – by the time i got to the bridleways they were under 1 ft+ of snow! A climb that is in the granny ring at the best of times was completely unridable for more than a few feet.

The blizzard didn't really lend itself to photography either. Where is that one shot?
this is the minor road from garvald to whiteadder (resovoir) in the lammermuirs, east lothian,SE Scotland, cause of no houses it often dosnt get ploughed if heavy snow, rare here as near coast…
heres a film i shot on the return as it was a lovely day.. snowbiking

surly pugsley eats it up… :-)

in most UK conditions a normal bikes fine..airline mechs after washing to remove moisture will help freezing problems, full lenght cables coppergreased, graphite grease in all bearings, freehub, castrol chainwax(motorcycle)all biodegradable chain lubes are water based so wash off eventully in wet conditions and can freeze, relax arms on ice-dont tense,if you crash get it on camera :D

i have pearl izumi barriers, about 5 years old and still going…however…if you can find them get these, scott adventure gloves.

made for snowmobile riding but adopted for adventure motorcycling, they cost £33 about 8 years ago,i rode a motorcycle in iceland with these at -22 celcius + windchill,i froze except my hands, the insides dont pull out when sweaty, you can tie shoe laces with them on and unzip pockets etc..(dont take your gloves off in iceland in march..) and they dry on a radiator overnight easy without going stiff, there reasonably waterproof (glencoe to edinburgh in pissing rain motorcycling) but somehow keep your hands warm if wet… mine aint for sale and i always ware them in this weather cycling..i dont know if there still for sale but worth searching out…
if you want hand muffs you can get scooter ones that are alot smaller than regular motorcycle handmuffs…

one up loft was my big brothers given to me..,there on ebay quite often, just a case of patiance and getting one cheap when little or no bids..
i paid £80 for the john deere green frame, forks came with a super v as did wheels, used old mtb stuff for finishing kit and £15 for tyres..on the road cheaper than an on-one frame..though i want a red one of those too…

coastkid – is that an uber v version of the superv?
i'm slowly building up one of those myself – tho i've been stuck on teh groupset stage for the past 6 months

yes stu its an uber,caad4 raven swingarm with RP3,love it..,has a high BB but perfect for ST through the heather,10 year old main frame now and have had a prophet and heckler inbetween, but it descends good for such a good climber,i have another 2 super v frames and 2 killers, the one above and the older 1 1/4 headset one with pepperoni taperd forks..that lot all up loft forgotten about..,
this is the one to find, colin macrae signiture frameset…

anyway sorry back to the hardtail progect…

    coastkid
    Free Member

i did it with a 95/96 killer v and used 100mm reba`s with 1.5 reducer cups, check your frame isnt the 1" 1/4 headset that the early dales had,you may still find a 2nd hand fork but may be easier sticking with the o.e fork if so…

still ride the super v with newish kit on in the pic but the hardtail now a v brake commuter used daily…

if its scyamore then its one of the few woods you can burn freshcut and green,if its birch or beech then you need to pile it under a lean-to or open ended shed where its out the rain but with a good airflow..,a sealed shed or cellar will just cause mildew on the wood..,needs to be where the air will dry it,dont stack it all neat just pile it like it came out a tipper..that way it will air better..,should burn after a week like this..
