What pressure did you ride? sub 12 psi the norm, but up to 18 for tarmac or hardpack for easier crusing speed,
have ridden 4 psi front and rear and nearly climed every dune you cound walk up! usually 100 pumps with a mountain morph = 10 psi

GW, pugsleys with surly`s own rims weigh the most, around 34 lbs+,
speedway cycles make the lightest build kit off the shelf with light rims and cranks, sub 30lbs bilds easy, dont know the record lightest production fatbike!,
top speed?, i have had 28 mph will a full on gale behind on Aberlady Bay on concrete firm sand!, was good as 2.1 miles long!, average road cycling speed around 12 mph,
i know i can go xc riding with regular bikes ok but deft tire a bit sooner, but still alot of fun,
just the constant stares and questions from joe public which gets really tiring :o
got the explanation down to about 8 seconds now,

at bikes are for snow like the iditabike ? do we get enough snow .Those of you in bonny Scotland may but down south we don't so it's more niche than a lot of the other stuff we ride

thats what every one thinks but there for soft terrain…these areas arnt niche areas, maybe snow is but there great also on sand, peat, gravel, heather, marshland etc… to go where your orange five wont go

get the saltire flying behind TJ!,
my ex being Dutch when there everyone loved the fact i was Scottish, the anglais still have a reputation in places cause of that footy fan trouble, even though that was a wee while ago now.
Also it was mostly Scots regiments who were involved in the failed WW2 operation Market Garden. the country hasnt forgot the price paid there to try and free them from ze Germans, my grandad is buried near Daventer, some good war museums to visit around Arnhem,

look at the erosion on the slopes up through glencoe from walkers but who is to blame? them? or the local authorites?
on the erosion topic we did the STW hard route on the Cheviots yesterday with an added climb in/descent home into scotland to join the loop and i was very impressed with the condition of the trails from lack of motorcycle use..and this from an ex er..scottish motorcycle trail rider (shooosh-wanted in 25 countys) who rode down here all the time in the 1990s so although i loved it at the time i did see the damage caused then by less responsible folk…and its way worse than any bicycle could do..
for the record when cycling i give all walkers a big wave, grin and howdy  and if there miserable thats there issue not mine :o
we passed 3 pairs of walkers there yesterday who all spoke and smiled and one pair of bikers near Salters Road who if they had smiled the road below us would have cracked…but they had just climbed up what we were about to descend :o

    lovin it epicyclo :o
i did 56 miles on the cheviots last year in a long day and reckon the extra wieght was offset by the bikes ease on soft going parts of trails,
though it was the driest i had ever seen it up there it was wet enough in places to be glad i was riding the pugsley, gteat bike and love it :o

as a thought…the old 2002ish 6" junior T fork could be used if you got a engineer/custom motorcycle dude to turn you some wider or offset yokes and thru axle to suit, but need a frame to suit a 6 " fork, i do have a old super v hanging up that with a refabricated swingarm could become a full suss fatbike

Beavers were finally reintroduced last year IIRC. Immediately one of the males was shot. However they survived the first winter

thought they would have at least brought in so many to test the water,
plenty places to ride them, and anyone who wants to ride year round whatever trail conditions and who dosnt want to damage fragile trails and then there`s also the coastline,
miles and miles of it :o

Areas like the Pentlands, Lammermuirs and Cheviots around here which are fragile peat and get real wet are ideal for fatbikes for less damage, on sand the tyre print is less than a human footprint!, one up on the ramblers :o

depends on the snow type says everyone on US fatbike forum who has done it in Alaska?Mn area,
i know on some snow my regular mtb was better than the pugsley but strangely it really flew on hardpacked ungritted roads here last winter, faster than my normal bikes, wierd!, and alot of snow riding done out there is on packed down snow machine trails,
definitly for sand a rear fatty is way better, :o

hehe this forum has got fat fever :o

    just home from work,
ok the tune is by Le Pico and track is supernova…

agree on possible fat front for a 29er, alot of folk stateside also fit a 26" rear with 50mm rim and a 2.7" tyre for budget float, im building a semi fat kona humu soon like this,

Paul we could do a ride from Longniddry (train down/back fi the toon?) and do a loop out to gullane, HH and co have done this loop, all above the coast no sand, but…. plenty places for anyone who wants a shot of a pugsley on the beach,

my pugsley cost £1500 with a discount
since added phil wood BB and middleburn cranks, and recently an Alfine hub, before fitting the Hub this was the spec
now i would say £1800-£2000 for a good spec,
once the Kona is built anyone is welcome to ride the pugsley, down the coast to North Berwick and you buy the ice cream :o

Surely that's just a 'look at me, look at me! different for the sake of being different aren't I cool nichewankfest' bike? no one actually rides them, they sit in the garage and make occasioinal forays over to the internet via te medium of .jpeg.

    Horrible horrible things.

get on a train to Edinburgh then ride down to East Lothian and i will take you for a cycle with mine, all you have to do is try to keep up  er sitting about? 2800 miles in less than 2 years enough riding? :o
