coastkidFree MemberI can do a EL ride any weekend anyone is intersted,
Maybe it`s time to resurrect the old Railway station meet ride outs (Drem and Longniddry), Not really fussed your wheel diameter//tyre/nob size as long as you can A cycle, and B drink beer :)coastkidFree MemberI’m a dog owner, I take my dog on walks where bikes are used and I make an effort to keep him under control, especially when bikes are going past, which is a challenge.
I have been on 3 rides this year and have had incidents with trail dogs.
2 occasions where I’ve been at a trail center on MTB only trails, to find a dog running at me, causing me stop, nearly coming off, and ruining a downhill I’ve just spent all my energy climbing up to the top. On the third, once again at a trail centre the dog had been abandoned by its owner, miles from any where, in sub zero temperatures, the dog was limping, and not in a good place. I took the dog back to the car park to find the owner having a brew in the cafe. I had to coax the dog back along fire tracks ruing the ride, that I had to drive for hours to get to.
I don’t blame the dogs but the owners.
Dogs are unpredictable…. Even the most highly trained have their moments.
When you are riding your bike, do you know what your dog is up to behind you?Yes it`s called a seatpost cam  :-)
coastkidFree MemberA walk up to the Fairy Lochs to the WW2 Liberator Wreck site is a worthwhile visit… never been to another place in Scotland since so sobering with its desolation in such stunning scenery,

He often runs 40 miles alongside her Endurance horses on field boundries, woods and end rigs around here. The horses average 12-16km, He ran 70 miles in a day when she was training for the 160km Seacliff Endurance ride last June which she won – i think it was Mowgli`s eagerness to keep going that prepared her for it!And 10-20 miles easy on the coast, he just drinks out of the burns and puddles eon route!,

Start when your in 1st year at high school riding BMX and never stop…
Todays youngsters make us all look like old gits with their manuals :wink:Fatbikes are great for wheelies, dunno, must be the geometery :-)
coastkidFree MemberThere is a mag out now for those that hate folk enjoying themselves on they fatbike things :)

Now folks are slating each other over what Fat tyres they should use! WTF!
Who gives a shit what anyone else thinks what your riding, if it works for you where you ride, then use it! :-)coastkidFree MemberLeft the highest tyre marks on this long gone wall ride one weekend…

coastkidFree MemberAfter todays mud bath ride around the local woods and trails away from the coast after a weeks rain i would not hesitate to roll with 2.5 Minions if i owned a Krampus.
I am running 2.5 Minion DHF front/2.3 Minion DHF rear on my Karate Monkey, and would have been spinning a lot today on Knards,
Karate Monkey – Mid Nov Woods cycle 003 by coastkid71[/url], on FlickrcoastkidFree MemberBregante;
Aye they are Rabbit Holes on the Monkey
I did have 2.5 Minions both ends with Monkey Nuts in the rear with 3×9 and good chain clearance.
Tyre clearance is ok for sandy soil trails but not much clearance for mud so swapped out the rear 2.5 DHF for a 2.3 DHF.
A 3″ knard fits in easy on Rabbit Holes and Monkey Fork- The Krampus fork is the same width. Only 483.0 mm in lenght compared to the Karate Monkey`s 468.0 mm fork.
Some folks have fitted krampus forks to KM`s giving slower steering and a slight increase in BB height.
I fitted a 1.5 degree offset headset to slacken the steering a bit on my KM and it rides way better ridgid.Paceman; Nipped out to the ManCave and got the calipers out;
Rabbit Hole with Minion 2.5mm; Width 62mm, height 50mm
Rabbit Hole with 3″ Knard Width 76mm, height 65mm
It
s the air volume of the 3" tyre that gives it it
sfloat
Itchin for a Krampus frame for next year as have the wheels :D

coastkidFree Member29+ is my favourite fatbike tyre size for riding away from the coast.
This old Puglsey frame was Scotland`s first fatbike and now 6 years old and over 10,000 miles clocked up on it, last 2 years it has been a KramPug, thats a offset Krampus 29+ wheelset that bolts straight into the Pugsley, and is my PUG/ECR alternative (with 4″ fatbike wheel option if required. With a 1″ higher BB to a regular wheeled Pugsley it is great for local xc trails, maybe it needs a Jones wide loop bar for riding off steep stuff, i will see…, but i love this bike and its old and so deft not a fad… :)
No one has mentioned cycling harvested stubble fields yet!, 29+ is the easist fun option for this :-)coastkidFree MemberForget the weight thing and just ride the things!,
Here is prob the heaviest- a Mk 1 Pugsley with 36h Marge rims and tubes along side the lightest Carbon tubeless fatbike available!
No sand or snow in this film and still fun :-)coastkidFree Memberm0rk i`m east of Edinburgh, but am in Norfolk end of month for the 6th fatbike Gathering,
Vee tyres are £20 on eBay too this now folks in two options, scroll through this search; Fat Bastardo rubber fetish :)
coastkidFree Member2nd hand Fatty or old Pugsley should be able to be had for £600 upwards.
I don`t believe the Charge Fatbike handling comments as Charge are a company who build great hardtail frames, comments were from a pro OO Fatty designer
Like to see a rider with other UK fatbike riding experiance`s views on them…
Charge`s complete bikes are a good specced steel option to the alloy FattyI emailed Charge on the possibility of a frame set to buy to try out as i have spare 17mm offset wheels and 100mm cranks but have had no reply… :(
coastkidFree Member6 years riding 4″ fatbikes and now also 5″ on 100mm rims and 29+ (thats 3″ on 29x50mm for those out of the know  ) over the last 2 years,
Thing is no point pushing them on websites that have non believers. Just go ride and enjoy them  :-)
coastkidFree MemberDog walkers around here are mostly all fine in general, ping ping on the bell and a hello and usually youget an apologie. Some of them ride bikes along with their dogs too
There are miserable people in all walks of like, check out a lot of road cyclists for instance
coastkidFree MemberPlenty riding in East Lothian, great singletrack, check out MTB East Lothian on Facebook for mid week group rides from Pencaitland :-)
