Stans Raven cx 35mm tyres on Arch Ex rims on mine at up to 60psi. They’ve been faultless.

Or this isn’t so much for reheating (RICE DEATH! though I do regularly make it an reheat the next day) but once you’ve done it a couple of times, it’s really quick to make (<15 mins) and then unlike most risotto where you have to add water, stir, check for ages, you cook it in the oven so there’s no work as such.

And you can use the same basic oven cooking method for just about any risotto IME.

The above reheats very well (even after freezing) and works well as a weekend meal with the leftovers for the week

I would suggest browning the chicken in oil rather than butter for the first step though as I find the butter tends to burn before the chicken browns otherwise and since it’s a one pot dish, leaves a bit of a burnt taste.

In theory, yes – it’s certainly against advice. I do it though with no problems. I do always get it in the fridge as soon as possible though.

Basically yes (except the pedants will say voltage isn’t power though it’s directly linked Power = volts x current)

The chargers I have will be setup for 2s/2p so would they work on 2s/3p but ju7sttake longer?

    Yes

    1 cell = 1.5v, 1000 mAh

    2 cells in series = 1.5v, 2000 mAh
    2 cells in parallel = 3v, 1000 mAh

    2 * 2 cell series pack in series = 1.5v. 4000mAh
    2 * 2 cell series pack in parallel = 3v. 2000mAh

    Should be

    1 cell = 1.5v, 1000 mAh

    2 cells in parallel = 1.5v, 2000 mAh
    2 cells in series = 3v, 1000 mAh

    2 * 2 cell series pack in series = 6v. 1000mAh (basically 4 cells in series)
    2 * 2 cell series pack in parallel = 3v. 2000mAh

    3 * 2 cell series pack in series = 9v. 1000mAh (6 cells in series)
    3 * 2 cell series pack in parallel = 3v. 3000mAh

Ah, I clearly have the voltage of a LiIon cell wrong :) In which case, what he said :)

    clubber
    Free Member

You could in theory run three sets of two parallel cells but the voltage would be too low and also with liIon, you’d risk charge/discharge issues as the cells aren’t all matched.

    clubber
    Free Member

You need to keep the voltage the same. To do that you need to stick with 4 cells in series (eg in a line). 6 cells in series would be 50% extra voltage which would likely blow circuits, etc.

If you had 8 cells, you could in theory run two 4 cell packs in parallel to make up a battery with twice the capacity but with LiIon you need to be careful…

Don’t underestimate that extra 10 miles each way… it can wear you out, particularly if you’re not sleeping well due to kids.

BUT… it seems pretty clear cut and I’d suggest that all the other positives are going to comfortably outweigh and issues with the commute.

And there may be other commute options – lift sharing, etc so that you can balance out that extra distance.

    Good luck ;)

To give ignorant mtbers something else about road bikes to be grumpy about.

Usually any of the ‘dream’ bikes at £7+k that companies list for the people with more money than sense (because there will always be customers who want the most expensive bike).

They usually cost twice what the sort of spec the pros actually ride costs and have no real performance difference.

Last I was on there was 2002 (over 10 years ago!) and then moved over here and never went back. Always seems a shame that it died after its heyday but a few of us still keep in occassional touch and there is actually a ‘secret’ forum run by milo_bloom which has a lot of the old BM crowd though a quick check shows it’s pretty quiet there too.

    Dead bike ride, anyone?

Potentially yes. Depends how the credit card is set up – eg who the liability is with. He could just get a credit report to find out for sure.

I’m very unfit these days and have found that while very slow, so long as I don’t go off too hard, I can ride that sort of distance without any real trouble (not to say that I’m not tired at the end but not unreasonably so).

From what you’ve said of your riding you’ll have no problems so long as you pace yourself.

Yeah, the ATX was what Rob Warner and a few others were on and the MCM(?) was the carbon posh XC version. I don’t actually think that MB was involved with those though – just the TCR and MCR TT frame of the same era.

You’d have expected that if you did more than just post in the classifieds normally ;)

been around for a while, didn’t he design this

I sold a few of them. They were rubbish. :)

The TCR on the other hand was a much better idea.

    Laces are rubbish as above.

Either two lower velcro straps and a ratchet one at the top or per my one ride old (so I can’t really comment on longevity :) ), the boa version which seems nice so far. I’ve already ordered a spare just in case :)

IMO, SS specific wheels really don’t have much point – freewheel ones rarely seem as reliable as normal cassette wheels (even with the supposedly good WI one) and there’s no other real world benefit (yes, supposedly stronger with wider flanges but do you regularly kill wheels really?).

They do look neat though. If that’s enough, go ahead but I’d stick with a normal wheel for the reliability and extra versatility if you ever do want to stick gears on.

I have a carbon (disc only) CX fork spare after my frame was warrantied. 3k matt finish and in very good condition as it only had three months use and not a huge amount of miles in that time. Mine’s a 58cm frame so I’m pretty sure it’ll be long enough (though can measure of course).

It’s from a (respected brand) Chinese manufacturer but I wouldn’t be after loads for it – drop me an email if you’re interested.

You’re wrong Jamie – you’ve missed the drift from lynch mob to discussion over disorganised people/crooks which I reckon is good for a few pages yet especially once someone posts stating that they didn’t post a bike for 15 weeks because their goldfish died and they reckon that’s reasonable.

    Just you wait.

And if we still had TJ, Fred, et al on board, I reckon this would still be going at Xmas with lots of claims of straw men, ad hominem, ‘you’re not listening’, etc.

Some bathroom cleaners certainly make me cough lots (but don’t have the same effect on Mrs Clubber) but that’s very different from EIA for me.

I used to get this a lot…lost a chunk of weight and now I don’t. Clearly not the case for everyone as Scud’s post demonstrates, but worth thinking about if you’re carrying a few extra, ahem, stone.

Conversely I got EIA a lot when I was very serious about sport and training. Now I’m not, it’s far less common and interestingly I’ve just realised that the last couple of years have been the most free from EIA that I can recall being and I’m fatter in general than I have been…

so you have a high LTV

The company providing the mortgage will get its own valuation (which you’ll usually pay for IIRC) to avoid people trying this.

(and to be pedantic, I assume you mean low LTV)

Hmmm would have to be pretty altruistic to sell a house for less than what is obtainable. It’s the gazumpers and gazunderers who are the real g!ts

    +1 on that.

as the bearing inner and outer races are held distant from the frame evening if the bearing collapses it shouldn’t do too much mischief,

Actually they can – or at least they can if people don’t notice that the bearings have seized and the cups then rotate in the frame, wearing away the BB shell…
