I have 5m bell tent with stove, although it’s not a frontier stove. We use for visiting family all year round. Very warm with fire going, 5 degrees outside shorts and t shirt inside kinda of warm. Tent weighs a ton when it’s wet. Tent is good size for 4 of us and big dog. Quick to put up, takes about 10-15 minutes.

Chap I ride with is of similar age to me, similar fitness, yet I can sustain a heart of around 150, he sustains about 180. If pushing it I’ll max at about 170, he will top 200. We are very different build though with very different resting heart rate. I’m low 30’s he is low 50’s
    I’m a solid 15 stone, he’s about 11.

Second that, I broke my reflex last year. Had a big off, snapped the light casing clean in half. Lost the lens and the pcb inside ended up buried in mud. The only usable was the battery. Sent it back, all repaired under warranty.

Something we’re looking at as well….how do bell tents stack up against tents like the Montana? We stayed in one last year for a couple of nights and found it a pleasant place to be even though the weather was awful. Less space obviously but seem easy to put up.

We have a 5m bell tent and its a fair old size inside. Very heavy all in, close to 40kg but proved to be very weather proof. We have a log burner in ours, which makes it very cosy inside,4 or 5 degrees out side, but shorts and t-shirts inside. Very easy to put up/take down, around 10-15 minutes id say.

Hope district is very bright and its going to last for sure. Expensive and not exactly light, arguably overbuilt and its not easy to swap between bikes but may well be the last rear light ill buy.The moon shield 60 are good too.

Neoprene socks cut down to fit of the ankle area worked for a bit, although they soon neede replacing. Im currently using ankle gaiters over shimano waterproof boots which seem to work well enough. Eventually though, water will get in and the only way you will stop it is by using trousers.

I went for an interview for a production manager at Naim, fantastic sounding system set up in the reception area. I was being walked through the build process and was somewhat skeptical about the fact that certain wires had to bent in a particular fashion in order to preserve the Naim sound.

Ignore the advice about ignoring it. POFA 2102 means you can’t ignore it but it’s easily dealt with at POPLA. Go on the Pepipoo forum for real advice.

I did go to Pepipoo forum, see link here:

Mix of appeal or ignore. I went with ignore and it panned out exactly as deadlydarcy situation.

I can see it being a bit awkward seeing as your employer is a tenant though.

I was issued a parking ticket by a similar company, despite having a valid ticket on display. Whilst i wanted to kick up a fuss, the best thing was to just ignore it. The follow on letters varied in how much i should pay back, but they hinted at possible court action. It was all just bluff though. Tickets issued by the police, council or railways are not to be ignored though.

I got the Phillips bulb, uber bright things as they were given to me. The packaging did say that the lifespan is 50% sorter though. When i need to change i’ll probably go for a HID conversion, after going on a night ride and then jumping on the car, the halogen lights appear to be so much dimmer.

I used the HIDs for 4 years in the previous car and had no problems with the MOT, there’s a few car out there that have HIDs factory fitted as standard, but have neither washers or self leveling suspension, which muddies the water a bit.

Had a 04 TDI Sport, thought it was a great car. It is a bit restrictive on size and a growing family meant a bigger car was required, but otherwise id have kept it. The sport suspension is very poor, but i uprated the shocks (details of type are on the A2OC forum) and the comfort was hugely improved. I also had issues with sports alloys, whilst they look the muts they took a right hammering on any pot holes, to the point where i had to replace them due to buckling. My engine was mapped, and drove very well for what it was. Comfortable to car to travel in although engine noise was a bit noisy compared to newer cars. In four years, i only and a CV gaiter split and that was due to myself not acting soon enough on a observation during an MOT. MPG was around 70 mpg on a run, obviously diesel, which was a bit low, some of that loss was put down to the weight of the sports alloys.

Vivaro double cab, 11 plate. Best vehicle Ive had to be honest. Around 45 mpg on a run, 38 potting around town. Loads of space to carry kids and dogs. Great to drive for what it is, initially felt huge, but just feels right now. There’s a bit of a knock coming from the steering, which is almost certainly the topmount bearing in the suspension. It’s also been mapped to around 140, which improves the drive a bit. For some reason, buying tyres for a commercial vehicle seemed a bit of a headache.

Im looking at getting a Thompson, the reverb has proved to be a bit unreliable. Its failed twice in a year, frustratingly it is only ever used in dry conditions so its not had a hard life. And the hydraulic actuation seems to be more hassle than its worth IMO.

I have done so in the past. Car was a nissan 200sx, and i had about 3 or 4 bikes at the time. As i recall, a couple were hanging from the rafters and the commuter just about fit down the side.

Oxbox one here and to be honest i’m a bit underwhelmed. There has been very little released that has interested me, although its obviously still a new platform. The “entertainment” centric tagline doesn’t scan that well, as has been mentioned above its aimed at the US market. I have to keep my 360 if i want to watch any movies that i have stored on a external hard drive or if i want to use the iplayer. That being said, Titanfall is epic and unlike most mutliplayer games you can play for half an hour at a time and still make progress against people that live the game.

Switched from a peugeot 308 estate to a SWB Vivaro with crew cab. Best move ever. Cycle to work more or less every day, only ever drove to go somewhere with the bike and was just trashing the inside of a the car. Expanding family (2 kids + dog) meant even for short camping trips the estate car was rammed when we took the bikes along. So an opportunity came to get a van, and its been superb. Insurance costs the same, tax is a bit more and it gives around 43mpg on average. Comfortable to drive, quiet and hugely practical for us. I doubt I’d ever consider a car again.

The paper appears to have form for publishing this kind of anti cycling stuff. A few years ago, a cyclist was killed on the itchen bridge, i seem to recall there being similar letters printed in the same manner. Could even be the same bloke. I understand the editor is very anti-bike and is very vocal about any organised ride in the new forest.

Il de Oleron was superb. Drove down, parked car up and it didn’t move for the 2 weeks we were there. Cycled everywhere, including our 4 year daughter. Hadto get a bit creative when carrying surf boards, bucket and spade, but its a great place. Temperature was perfect although the beaches can get windy.

Like my z1 as well, charging port cover a bit of a pain so plan to buy a dock soon

You don’t necessarily need the dock to use the charging port, you can buy a cable with a connector which is compatible with the charging port.

If its a full on ceramic bearing, then they potentially last longer, but most are ceramic balls with steel cages. They wear just as fast as full on steel bearing in my experience. Full ceramic bearings tend to be lower dragas they don’t require grease.

Report the fella for sure, car pulled out in front of me of a while ago and although i hit the car, neither the bike or myself were injured/damaged in anyway. The bloke was as shocked as i was and very apologetic, but as i wasn’t hurt i just carried on. I wasnt going to report it, however the chap i was riding with did. Turns out the fella in the car was banned from driving (drink driving, caused a fatality) and car was uninsured. He shouldn’t have been driving, end of.

I have a sony arc that is locked (phone was lost, blocked by operator, then turned up at my barber shop). As far as im aware the viewranger app is installed still functions fine. If you’re interested in it let me know. The only issue i can see is that the assisted gps funtion wont work as it relies on the phone signal.

I had both and i wouldn’t recommend them to be honest. The exposure flare (and it pains me to say it as i’m a big fan of exposure stuff) proved to be unreliable for me, the threads on the cap cracked, although to exposures credit they did send a free replacement. The Exposure tracer looks like a better option, for not much more money. Fibre flares suffered from water ingress. I currently use a Hope District 3 and a moonshield 60. The hope looks like it will outlast everything else by some margin, the moonshield feels flimsy by comparison but has lasted well so far.

the perception that school is less important than bargain holidays will have an insidious effect on their longer term attitude to academic education and thus exam performance

Which is a very good point. However, i can see where adopting this holiday policy to the letter might mean that parents feel less responsible for the children in the long run, which is arguably as bad in my opinion.

They are the same for all

Except its not. Our local schools teach gypsy families and they will come and go as they please, often turning up in the middle of the school day to take their children out. Its a bit of a headache as the school can’t fine one set of parents and not the other.

Does this light need the dedicated battery pack to get the maximum output, or will an existing exposure battery pack do the job?
