Finally got some proper miles on mine this weekend…

What a machine! Spot-on riding position, efficient pedalling combined with unstoppable rolling… it seems to plough over/through everything.

It doesn’t feel big though, I was concerned that I’d made a mistake in going 29+ over B+ but I feel quite the opposite now.

Also very happy owner, but it does throw up one problem for me, it was going to be my singlespeeder but I think I’m going to have to gear it to take advantage of the momentum it can carry through the rough and round the corners…

Did you ever manage to get the **** thing to corner properly at full lick without having to let off the power? Cos I bloody didn’t.

Nope, the madcap was the worse car I ever had, crappy handling combined with crappy transmission losses meant it was slow and drained the battery too quick as well…

The one I’d recommend now is the Helion Volition absolutely incredible value for money and a really good chassis design.

    I had…
    1. Tamiya Hornet
    2. Tamiya Madcap
    3. Kyosho Lazer ZX
    4. Schumacher Cougar
    5. Associated RC10 team.
    6. Schumacher Wildcat

Hornet was ace as a first rc car, my rich mates around the corner had the egress and their batteries would last about 5mins where as I’d be pootling round for about 25mins. I imagine with todays batteries you can probably get an hour runtime!

Saying all that, my nephew has just got a cheap rtr stadium truck and it’s better than all the above (save the rc10) I’ll try and dig the make out, I was really impressed with it.

Tubeless…I ghetto tubelessed a 3″ Knard on a 45mm Dually rim, with an opened out innertube as a tyre liner.

Why would you ghetto a tubeless rim???

I think you’d be surprised FLRB, you should try it.

I think using over 15psi is missing the majority of the benefit of these 3″ tyres.

I thought the new “performance” was the old Evo’s?

The original ORC performance being the dangerous ones

20 psi seems a lot MTG! I run 14/15 at the back and 12/13 at the front and I’m not a small guy

First ride on mine yesterday… Total hoot, really unstoppable once rolling, need to ditch the knard on the front though, where did you guys get you chupacabras? they lookgood, although I think it will be a dirt wizard going on the front now

I’m nearly done too, just need to fit a new brake hose and the sfn and we’re off! (probably going to have to get rid of the knard off the front too given the recent weather…)

Aren’t they going to be exactly the same unless you’re bottoming out on the thinner one? Never quite understood that.
