Homemade Roast veg soup with lentils for me… I find lunch easier if I just make big batches of soup with beans/lentils in at the weekend. Black beans are good in veggie soup

Ardent is faster rolling but fat alberts are mighty grippy, what pressures you been running?, advantages also good..

2.4 definitely had bigger knobs and is massive, I love them!

They do run well once tubeless but I had a nightmare trying to get them to inflate on flows, high volume airline and fairy liquid eventually got them on…

    exactly. no fuss.

what is all the fuss about? the ‘no puncture’ thing clearly aint true. neither is the ‘less weight’ bit.

so why tubeless? just cos its a bit showy?

I’m always amazed at the amount of thorns in my tubeless tyres when I change them, I think I counted 8 last time I changed them, that’s 8 times I didn’t have to stop to change/repair tubes on just one tyre that has been on for a couple of months…

    Tubeless is great…

They don’t do a Maxxis Advantage LUST in 2.25″.

That list also doesn’t include the foldable 2.4 EXO that currently resides on my bike

Ordinary Maxxis always go up tubeless for me and seal fine with stans sealant, except for a 29er beaver with which I had terrible trouble getting seated, but then sealed fine after that.

Chumba HX1 here too. Very cheap at the moment.
Great service from Si at Progressive

The frame is really nicely made and finished. Surprisingly compliant ride for a hardtail, never mind an Aluminium one, but also stiff where it needs to be. I also think it looks fantastic.

I keep thinking I should just keep to 29er like my other bikes but I can’t bring myself to part with it…

We have an Oak floor in our Kitchen and Utility Room, Washing machine has blackened off an area beneath itself in the utility room when we didn’t notice it was leaking. Fridge is fine.

Biggest upset was when the hot tap was left running and drowned the whole kitchen in an inch of hot water for a day.

All the joints curled up and it was horrendous and completely ruined. We had the insurers out BUT then over a period of 2 weeks it went back to perfect… I would have bet my house it was knackered but it is fine.

One of the biggest pains is washing it as you can’t just get the mop out and the kitchen is a messy area. So I don’t think it is the best material, but we had it because our Kitchen is massive and we spend a lot of time in it and absolutely love our oak floor.

My input is pretty much just a brainfart, so you may choose to ignore me completely, but I like the idea of a well made, super tidy hardcore steel 29er. Maybe I’m being thick, but I don’t think there’s much of that type of thing about? (possibly for a good reason?)

You are talking about a Singular Buzzard

If you think they roll well, you really should try some other brand next time…

3rd option, verical dropouts an no tensioners. Just pick the right ratio’s. It is very doable and relaible.

EBBs add weight and squeak. IMO. YMMV. obviously. Horrid things.

EBB minor weight penalty is more than made up for with the lack of faff compared with adjustable dropouts.

Any squeaking is due to poor installation.

I’ve been a mud-x fan but think the maxxis beaver has the edge, bit more volume and a bit faster, not noticed any loss in grip…

    Ardent better allrounder, crossmark faster

I like 2.4 rear in my singlespeed swift, but I like big fat tyres, the 2.4 ardent is so big I reckon it changes the gear ratio by a tooth!

    Clobber
    Free Member

2.4 ardent too big for rear if you are running gears, it will interfere with the front mech.

2.25 Ardent just about clears the front mech, crossmark also good rear unless muddy/boggy.
