I’ve been running a CHumba HX1 with 150 forks and think it is great, fits Maxxis advantage 2.4 in the back as well and that is a huge tyre which takes some of the sting out. Great tyre actually.

EDIT: Plenty cheap at Progressive at the mo too!!

why bother with a rim strip? Save weight and tape it up and stick a £6 valve in it

Well then GrumpyDave I have inner and outer bbg bashguards that fit the spider. They are brand new, black, for 32t and if you are interested you can have them cheaply, my email is in my profile.

Only not using them as I got an uno ring so my spider is also redundant

I have a bbg that fits the 4 bolt middleburn spider for 32t.

Are you running a single or double ring

I’m sure I read the manitous weren’t any good for the big guys, I will have a look

Aren’t the manitou’s a bit flexy and difficult to set-up right for the bigger riders? (if you are actually big and daft)

I don’t think I’d have enjoyed Coed y Brenin half as much without my session, I was much faster on the downs than friends who were previously quicker than me. The control and confidence of a few simple things makes a huge difference…

Thanks for your help guys, had a really good few hours out there, got plenty lost but found some good bits it really is a good area. A little too steep and bumpy for my rigid singlespeed at times! But that is a good thing.

Is buying small block 8’s a minefield like Maxxis?

i.e. you need 3C compound, maxxpro, EXO walls, 62a, SPC, eXc, etc… with prices almost doubling between the options?

Or do you just buy the size you want and get on with it?

    Easy Tiger.

Sorry Surfer, not a personal attack… But it seems like the same questions come up again and again…

If you want to lose fat, you’ve got to substitute the nasty fast carbs (spuds, rice, pasta etc..) for nice slow carbs (beans, pulses etc..) so you still have the energy but without the insulin response triggered by fast carbs

May I share an analogy which comes into my tiny mind ?.
It may be wrong / inaccurate, but this is how I sometimes view it.

You’ve got a car which can use both regular and high octane fuel.

You’ve always used high Octane and you’ve got use to the performance.

However, with fuel prices and all.

You’ve decided to run on regular octane fuel.

But now you notice a change in performance.

What are you on about? I have more energy if I stick to the idiet properly…

The tiredness (when trying to run) that hit me within 24 hours and only goes away when I stop the diet.

Maybe its just me as any lack of carbs wouldnt hit that soon.

I still can’t believe the idiots that still think this is a low carb diet…

It was funny for maybe the first 20 times…

but what I am missing is a small sweet dessert, does anyone have any ideas?
It’s a habit to be broken.

Agreed, think its easier to leave sugar alone altogether than just have a little bit…

put a tube in them at 50 psi for a couple of days, then try

So actually far from being a weight benefit as claimed by thisisnota spoon, its would appear by his own numbers to be a 50g penalty when the idiots tube is taken into account, and I hasten to add that peretty much everyone I speak to admits to an idiots tube, not just the two examples given here.

Nope, you’re not reading it right, they are saying everyone carries a tube, whether you run tubes or not. So a spare tube is the same for everyone

Looks like something cheap and easy to replace that doesn’t mean loads of wheels in the garage to facilitate tyre changes and which works about as well as tubeless in preventing puncture

Nope, slime tubes are pants compared to tubeless when it come to punctures

Very reliable, fuel efficency was ok at 44mpg for 90mph motorway antics
