not sure what it would bring that could take me away from a 2.5″ Minion though.

    How about a 29×3 Minion…???[/url]

I disagree with Rocketdog on this, my bombolonis (on hugo’s) size up big, the fat be nimbles and dirt wizards are a bit smaller though

Just thinking… what do you guys if it is really chucking it down when you pack up? Do you try and get the stuff in to the bags whilst under the tarp and just have a wet bivi and tarp to keep separate? Not a lot of room for this and possibly a wet floor…

I imagine if you get your stuff really wet and then have set-up the following night it must be grim?

Looks perfect to me, nice job, glad you’ve found your sweet spot between comfort and performance

Successful Night Bivvying last night…! Lovely and warm, but I think that was more due to the ambient temperature rather than the kit…

Still, 100% dry and warm so thanks for all your input!

Hey TR, not calling you out on this, genuine question… what are your top tips for avoiding midges without the repellent, I can’t stand the stuff either…

At just over 1lb (and lower if you ditch the bags and go with Ti pegs) and IMO it’s good value for money.

Looks nice but Alpkit say 1.3kg… still not bad though but I already have a tent

Any chance of a better photo of that set-up trail rat? email in profile if easier…

I’ve had a look at the bearbones poles, how do you attach the tarp to them? just loop around the little nobble on the top? doesn’t look very secure?

fraid not yunki, it gets used a lot by me and the kids.

I’ve got the starlight2 and really like it, not sure I’d want anything smaller when using a tent, I’m going to try bivvying for a lighter set-up though

Some excellent info on the master thread, I’ve not managed to find anything on poles though… What poles do people pack in their bike bags?

As ghostlymachine says, the cleats are designed for dual options fit them one way for easy release and the other way for harder release, try swapping them over

    That’s what I was wondering burko…! Maybe it’s just the photo…

    Any other input appreciated…

Tarp is 250×170 cm but quite heavy!

To keep it reliable you would have to run such high pressures that you defeat the point and wipe out any of the benefits of + size tyres

Complete bollox… I’ve run mine as low as 10psi reliably and I’m a big guy…

Bacondoublechee you must be doing something wrong

I think the route is the same, all do the GDMBR but there is also an annual race

And in answer to the op, I really enjoy riding the plus size tyres, never had a go at full fat and only ride hardtails.

I think it’s the best of both worlds, good rolling, decent cush etc…

Contrary to takisawa I think the hugo is much better than a dually for a bigger load… Certainly I find the Dirt Wizards are much much more burp prone on the dually at lower pressures. Yes I have tried both and indeed still have both.

ALSO… Hugo is a million times easier to set-up tubeless than the dually…

    (I really like hugos…..)

Have you the thread pictonroad? I was looking at those frames about a year ago on ebay.

    Clobber

Don’t that’s the point Whitestone, here Shand are re-branding an existing frame designed and made in the far east with no Shand input design or otherwise

The image of my place is over 10years ago, I can tell due to the car and the seeding of the lawn of the land we bought off the farmer…

Has anyone got a list of forks that will take 3.0″ B+ tyres?
