Mates riding my old Soul with rigid carbons – I tried to get him to buy some other forks but he seems quite happy.

    Some folk think too much

    You’re probably quite right!
Say I’m running 32:18 – if I’m cranking up a hill someone on a geared bike might well be in the granny ring spinning?
    Probably talking rubbish though!

The new Singular frame looks a possibility?
Or how about a Voodoo or Kona with sliding dropouts?
(the O-O frame does work very well, btw)

I couldn’t afford one but bought one anyway – haven’t regretted it! I’d promised myself a special bike for a special birthday in a few years – then figured if I bought it now I could be riding it for longer, hence better value for money :D

Current xt chainset with surly 32t chainring. I’ve got a set of Middleburns (just to try something different) but have not got round to swapping them over yet.

btw I hope you’ve alreday got some h-bars, or a deep pocket – with the exchange rate and price rises they are not cheap!

I’m running mine with carbon forks, H-bars and ss. Loving it. With this setup its surprisingly comfy(although I’m looking at sus for longer summer rides – see my thread). Its soooo light. Tyres wise I’ve got Bonty 2.2 acx; plenty of room. Stoner might be along in a bit for info as he’s used more tyres than me.

My only mtb bike is currently ss – on 2-3 hour rides its fine. Last year (on a Soul) I ran 1×9 on the Rough Ride and never needed more. I’m currently contemplating whether I stick with ss all year or go 1×9 for the summer.

I use the smallest OMM sack (previously KIMM). Seems to do the job nicely.

I prefer BB7s to hydraulics I’ve ridden; but at the end of the day everyone will have their own personal opinion and they all work!

Todays ride (off-road 29er, not rat) reminded me how good BB7s can be

I’ve had both. Prefered soul with forks at 115mm ish – good all-round ride. Preferred 456 with forks more wound out 130mm – blast downhill (wound in for long climbs). Don’t suppose that helps much but there you go! :D

The road bb7 calpier needs less cable pull to activate – so I presume road levers pull less cable? Its a bit wooden with the mtb levers (avids) but very effective!

they will still work – I put road bb7s on my roadrat 2 years ago; never got round to swapping them and can’t be bothered now

Almost the same bike but ti version (phone so not best pic)

I’m amazed and how comfy the combination of low pressure, carbon fork and ti bar is.

Discs here (BB7s); not run it with v’s but fully loaded with 2 panniers the braking is reassuring!

Measured at 10″ seat tube – it is well used – would scrub up fine, but definately not new! My 6 yo has just gone up to her older sisters Beinn 24. Can do pics tomorrow.

Rich – I don’t know which one it is
I will measure it in a bit. Stabilisers – not sure – both daughters learnt to ride on a smaller bike – I’ll get some basic pics sorted

We might be selling our BEINN 20 – its done 2 daughters so few scratches etc but otherwise fine. A mate has got first refusal but let me know if you are interested.

I run Jones ACX f&r on a 29er. They seem a good all-around tyre – roll ok. I’ve also run Mtn Kings (on a Soul) and they were good in everything but mud.

Actually it needs drainage holes putting in then repainting - paint loss is where water collects behind and seeps through

It is long. As I’m sure you know O-O’s have long tt’s. But with inline post, short stem (50mm) and seat forward it seems to fit her fine. Getting small frames isn’t easy (Merlin 13″ now reduced which have short tt, but were full price when I was looking).
