Are your parts boost? If not the alu Trek Superfly is a cracking xc bike. You would probably get a complete bike quite cheaply.

If you had an operation on your big toe I think a rowing machine might be out you bend at the toes as part of the stroke.

I’ve looked into this. Seem to be 2 schools of thought on whether you should bend your foot or keep it flat.

Good point about pressure on ball of foot with bike. However, I have been experimenting with an old exercise bike we have and a few tester workouts peddling on my heels – doesn’t seem to have caused an issue. I should point out I’m seeing a sports Physio we regularly use on Friday, for specific advice and a plan.

Yes – I know they may be boring, but I can’t do much else at the moment and I will go insane! I’m used to exercising every day. Mate has a rower which I tried yesterday which he has successfully used through a running injury. Only issue was foot strap was in same place as surgery, but I adjusted foot size, which seemed to work.

I’ve looked at a smart turbo and bike indoors, but wife isn’t having it, and in fairness not as good for whole family to use.

Couple of reviews I’ve read have said stock XO Spur is about 25lbs, so it’s not as heavy as you think?

Mine arrived today, very happy other than I measured my laptop wrong so won’t fit in sleeve. For the money I’m keeping it though!

I’d argue new Anthem, Sniper xc, standard Scalpel and Rapide all fit? That’s 4 out of 5 😃

I’m with you – Rapide frameset would be spot on. Pedals Bike Care we’re doing a similar frame – blue one on their IG.

    ^ Vitus Rapide FS?
    Cannondale Scalpel or Scalpel SE?
    Intense Sniper?
    Yeti SB115?

Looks like there is a new Anthem in development too.

I know very little about football, but it is good when something positive can unite (most) of the country. I want to be proud to be English and put out a flag, but I feel I will be tarnished as right-wing – I hate the Tories, voted against Brexit but feel sad that I can’t show allegiance to the team as the flag and its imagery have been hijacked by the right-wing. That makes me sad.

Chisel is great frame, about 1300g. It rides great, loved mine. Components are heavy, including the Judy fork.

I contacted 2Pure to check on pricing/availability and they didn’t seem to be sure what an ‘Ibis Exie’ was…

Downcountry is modern trail geometry on a short travel and possibly light bike. 67deg head angle doesn’t cut it. Its probably a pleasant xc bike thou

In fairness I think it’s designed as a xc bike, not a ‘downcountry’ bike.

That looks lush! Cover 80% of my riding. Shame I can’t afford it! Here’s hoping Giant bring out a revised Anthem ASAP.

I plot everything in OS maps then export, either to Garmin Etrex or to follow via Komoot on ‘phone. Plotting on OS maps dead easy. Transferring px to my Etrex is hit and miss though.

The Scandal is a much better bike.

Interesting. What do you think the Scandal is better (not disagreeing, just interested)?

The school is again under resourced and would rather ‘the problem’ went away. It has been suggested that he should be home schooled, which in our area equates to waiting a year before a tutor comes in for 4 hours a week, however at the moment he is keeping things buttoned down and is only being sent home twice a week (because of his own distress rather than disruptive behaviour).

Are they saying home schooled FT, or on a reduced timetable? If the former then they can’t do that, equates to unofficial exclusion and Ofsted would have a field day. If they are suggesting you remove him formally from school role and Electively Home Educate him gain they shouldn’t do that. If the latter then school should have put in place a risk assessment, signed parental consent and it should be reviewed regularly with a formal meeting. Again happy to chat outside of this thread if you want advice.

    2. Alloy flex stays. No thanks.

Used by a few companies before (Kona, Cannondale?) – not aware of issues?

are we dangerously close to that rarest of STW beasts, consensus?

Get a gilet. Get arm warmers. Sorted.

    Dare I mention knee warmers….

If It’s like any of the National’s and National Champs that I have been to over the years, you won’t need a ticket, just turn up and watch.

    Fab, thank you!

Police seem to take the approach now that they withdraw to prevent further escalation, rather than actually tackling the disturbance – happened in Bristol recently too. Then, ‘we’ll hold the people responsible to account’, by IDing them afterwards. Meanwhile some residents shit scared and perceive police did nothing to protect them. Is it lack of resources, or the new approach? Obviously I have not witnessed any of this, just based upon reading news reports.

I’m liking 2.6 Rekon on the rear. Not winter tyre, but fast and tough.

My Frontier. From memory Dial frame is ballpark same weight. I wanted something for local rides and bike packing; sent my wheels to them which saved me some money which then allowed me to get Rebas and rigid forks, all cut to same length with 2 crown races. I have a spare dropper which I may fit.

On-one scandal, blemished frames ~£260 on the planet-x eBay store?

This is what I have just done. No idea where the blemish is either! Rides great, Cotic might look nicer but lot more ££££ and heavier.

Just done first ride (Exmoor) on frame-only build from their eBay shop. Not sure why I’d need to spend more tbh. It did everything well, climbs, descents. Moved parts across, so carbon wheels, SLX/XT drivetrain and brakes, 35mm SIDS. I worried slack ha would be an issue, but if anything it climbed better than previous bikes. 5’10” on a large, 35mm stem, felt spot-on.

Forekaster front and Ardent Race rear on my XC hard tail here. Works well.

    I’d second that.

I think medium Scandal is tad over 2kg. Solaris in large 2.6kg. So roughly 500g more. Enough to make a difference, particularly if you managed to pick up a Scandal frame when they were cheap.

Interesting notes on sizing. I’m 5’10” and test rode a large and it felt spot on, wouldn’t want to go smaller.

How is the Bike fit wise? Can only pre order the TI in medium. Large sold out. But think I need a large. Any other similar bikes out there 3k max?

    How tall are you?

With the post extended, it shouldn’t be a problem. It wouldn’t work for me though as I always leave the dropper compressed about half an inch to allow for changes in ambient temperature between rides.

Do you hang seaweed in there with bikes to check for humidity?

If dogs were crowding my family member and causing serious distress I’d be grabbing the nearest stick and beating them off or kicking them away.

This, and I like dogs and we have two.
