Striking teachers probably has more of an impact on them tbh.

Not on the shifting patterns of behaviour we are seeing. Social media saturation (as above) and definitely less effective or absent parenting. Combined with a complete lack of any effective early help services. This is based on my experience as a secondary deputy head, safeguarding in NHS and now working in a Pupil Referral Unit.

Thanks Stu. I think the people you’ve linked have just dropped it. I’ll try Bikeinn.

I did the East Devon Trail in a day on the hottest day of the year last year. Managed it by being sensible and drinking lots of full fat Coke!

I asked Ortlieb about their new rack and axle mount system…they confirmed an early 2025 release date. If you can hold off, I suspect it will bw much cheaper than Tailfin’s offering.

    That’s ace news!!

Thread resurrection! New model is the Dualist https://bikepacking.com/bikes/hudski-dualist-intro/

I’ve chatted to them a bit and they are trying to bring some into the UK for autumn/sprng.

Reminds me a bit of my old Ragley TD1.  I’m hoping to pick one up for bikepacking.

I run these SQ ones on my xc bike – the alternative hand position really works for me on long rides.

For the riding you describe it would be perfect. Mine is retired as I’ve ridden a Chisel for last 2 years, but it never put a foot wrong. Did all my local riding, East Devon Trail in a day etc. Built mine with a carbon fork.

Communications with a seller is via the PM link in each ad.

Im sure you were always able to post comments on classified posts? I did about a week ago. Function seems to have disappeared.

The ability to post a comment/question on classified items has disappeared for me. Couldn’t buy something even if I wanted to.

So…used 4G instead of WiFi and worked straight away!

@dawson just before I order, can I just check if one size for all frames? Mine Epic Evo is large.

I got a local lad to make it for me for a few quid, but he only had blue filament!

I’d love one of those, would he make more?

Cheers for all the advice, picking up a Stumpy Evo tomorrow from LBS. Then off to ride 4 passes in Lakes on Friday 😀

My only other thought is, does it absolutely have to be a specialized?

No, but they seem to be the best deals atm. I’d like a Hightower, but too spenny.

I don’t think there’s enough between the epic Evo and the stumpy to be worth having both. I’d go Evo just on that

    good shout

Thanks for the replies. What I’m gathering so far is that either would be fine.

Thanks that’s my current thinking. For clarity I also have an Epic Evo Comp, but I’m thinking standard Stumpy might make that redundant (although not a good time to sell with all the deals).

Surly, Salsa and All City are all brands of QBP. Surly can appear to be a bit niche because the other brands take up the slack.

All City are ceasing trading later this year, already announced.

Reading with interest. We’ve booked for May half-term. Hoping for a days mountain biking and some walking.

Ta. Definitely mountain biking, or at least gravel.

Anyone got any hotel or apartment recommendations?

Based on personal experience I would be going straight to JRA. Very well built wheels.

Overtime only exists because your employer doesn’t supply enough human labour to achieve the tasks in hand – IE not your problem.

My employer (a school) can’t recruit enough staff, and I know it is a national problem. As a result everyone works much harder covering the gaps, it becomes everyone’s problem.

I have had 100mm Rebas and now SID Ulimates on my Chisel. SIDS are noticeably more comfortable. Not noticed flex, even when bike-packing. Obviously I’m doing something wrong!

I use a Chisel for this. Can’t fault it, it’s my go-to bike for local riding, all-day epics and bikepacking. I previously used a Sounder Frontier (still have it), which was also very competent. Chisel is lighter, but Frontier is awesome for your intended use, if a little agricultural.

Thanks Keith. That’s the 113 mile route I mentioned. Lots of useful info though.

Round our way (Somerset) you can call 999 for police and you’re lucky if anyone turns up. I know this from personal experience ( several incidents of assaults with no response). However, any whiff of firearms and you seem to get a hefty and swift response. I get the level of risk, but the level of harm potentially people are being exposed to by lack of response to serious but non firearm incidents is disproportionately high.

Thanks for all the suggestions. In the end I went for an Apidura Backcountry bag and Dropper Post Adapter. I’ll update how it performs.

Thanks for all the replies. The Wildcat fits low on the seat post, hence a lot of drop is lost. Apidura sell one of their models as dropper compatible and I emailed Restrap and they said all of their models work with a dropper. I’m after feedback of anyone who has used them? Default option is the Ortlieb qr (thanks for the review rocketdog).

I have used a rack before but won’t fit my full sus. Not getting Tailfin / too expensive and heard too many stories of them failing.

Aeroe I’ve looked at but it’s bloody heavy. I want for Jenn ride next weekend. Last year I regretted not being able to use my dropper.

    Someone musta use Ortlieb/Restrap/Apidura?

Yeah, not a fan of the eco rail. I’m being picky I know!

Sorry, should have specified. For bike packing, so primarily for my sleeping bag and bivi etc. So at least 8 litres.
