Nukeproof Mega? Saves you plenty of money and I preferred it to the Alpine, up and down. Only had a demo on the Alpine admittedly but the Mega just felt better. In Matlock also for a test ride or local blast MM/Lank. Email in profile.

Army issue ones, cover pretty much all the boot, super robust, not sure what they’re made of (prob Gore-Tex like everything army). Only bettered by Yeti’s…..and they cost bags more.

Hope hoops………………took ages!!!!! Then they continually messed up the axle converter, I even gave them the part numbers from the Hope site…… they still got it wrong. Sat looking at a complete (less axle adapters) new bike that was un-ridable for 3 weeks. Then gave up and got my LBS to order in special, 2 days later and I was out on it. Personally, It’d have to be deal of the century for me to use them again.

+1 for the Saint. I smashed the roller off my Stinger chain guide on the Saints first outing, didn’t even notice – and the Stinger made a huge difference when running 9sp XT. The Saint spring is bionic, such positive shifting and reduces chain slap to nearly nil. Have thought about buying another before they become extinct…..

Sit on fisherman’s box, puts you at a good height for working on crank and gears when the bike is on the floor or in a low stand. Tupperware type boxes to sub divide inside. Salvaged mine at no cost, can’t see them costing a great deal anyway.

I kept blowing through all the travel on mine (NP Mega) spent a tenner on the adapter to adjust the IFC(?) pressure on mine. Initial car park, hop, wall drop, flight of stairs testing suggest its a different shock – in a good way!

I couldn’t in through with it…. So my dad looked after Turbo for 2 weeks and at some point took him for me!

Apparently, too early and they don’t mature/develop their character properly….. I don’t know the science, but have read it in a number of books. And too late (I.e if they get a taste of scrapping or shagging) there’s no going back.

Turbo was done at 14 months…. He’s got a cracking character, is a great confident dog, playful, non-aggressive and generally spot on.

My reasons: I didn’t have the time, money or knowledge to breed from him, he was my first dog, complete dogs are more territorial/aggressive…..some will tell you otherwise, and perhaps with more experience than me. My decision was made on 3 months of Googleing and talking to breeders. For what its worth he’s a Rhodesian Ridgeback, super temperament and I did aire on the side of caution rather than have 8.5 stone of highly strung teeth and muscle to deal with. Honestly…..and as cruel as it seems, you’re potentially doubling your workload by keeping them in tact, unless you want to breed.

    That’s just my 2p worth…….big, subjective subject!

    1. Shimano Saint gearset.
    2. Hans Dampf tyres
    3. That £10 adapter that lets you adjust the IFC pressure on a monarch shock….. As I can’t afford a CCDB!

Other than as a stabilizer triceps are barely used in either a palm towards or palm away pull-up. They do target muscles and connective tissues slightly differently though.

The main fact is the positioning of the bones (ulna/radius), they essentially go from running parallel to overlapping, so muscles don’t pull along their strongest plane when pulling up palms away.

Just grasp your wrist with the other hand and flip your other hand over and back a few times, you’ll feel what I’m trying to explain.

Edit: I guess the quantitive effect this has on the muscles is explained in one of the previous threads above…….

    Seat tube not down!

    climbingkev
    Free Member

Good point, the bottom of the down tube is “crimped” slightly, to allow for swing arm clearance. This means its not truly circular so a front mechanism with a low clamp won’t clamp on properly…….not sure whether that’s what’s meant buy top-pull. It’s the more compact looking affair that you can’t use, which is a shame as it looks a lot neater.

I ran a triple XT up front and it failed the linkage, swapped to a double specific SLX fine now. Check the clearance when you’ve deflated the shock to check chain length.

As far as I know only 3 allow you to teather without incurring “out of plan” charges. I do it with a HTC Sensation and it’s quicker than our broadband!

3’s also super-cheap and unlimited in terms of usage. HOWEVER, their customer service is shocking and they basically refuse to deal with complaints. I post my experiences on here for suggested courses of action if you can be bothered to search for it, essentially the victim of one of their scams.

My advice would be get a sim only plan off them, I’d rather buy a handset outright and pay the few hundred quid than be bound to 3 in any way, shape or form. But like I said, I think they’re the only one who allow it as part of their plans.

Mega with 160 coil u-turns here, 1.5″ so on external headset cups……rarely wind down and there’s some long, savage climbs around me. If you can wangle a rear shock upgrade I defo would….undoubtedly the Mega’s achilles heel. That aside I consider mine a bargain and I payed full whack, so would snap up one at the prices being suggested here. I’ve got flows on hope SPAM 4’s which are ace……hear and brake to taste, xt/slx/saint for me and 30lb.

Wasn’t the Hope freehub/cassette gonna be 9-36t? It makes more sense to me to make things smaller and lighter, ie sprockets and chainring to achieve the same ratio and better ground clearances. Like the way that mech shifts in the video though. Plenty of RandD going on so the first ride review will be interesting….

Hammered some pretty rough, rocky Peak District stuff and small jumps/5ft drops on my Hans Dampfs, tubeless and at 35-40psi, no dramas, no burping. Like the grip (loads better than my Continental “you’re-dicing-with-death” Verticals!) even on damp roots, they will slide (predictably) if pushed. Not tried the Mary’s.

Gave my brother my old bike with that crank, he worked the plastic end cap loose then sheared the teeth off the crank axle…..he’s a pretty big unit mind. Can’t dismiss the fact it was prob a maintenance issue too………..?

Spot on b r the higher up the managerial tree you talk to the less of a conversation you can actually have, it’s like scripted interrogation, you’ll get name, rank (always senior manager), number and that’s it.

What really grips me is that they can halt their customer services process with no consequences, were I to halt my payments they’d be a solicitors letter in the post written in a far more comprehensive tongue.

Question: Were I to not pay their “admin” fee of £20 and therefore have no phone, could I just cancel my direct debit? Prob not reading that back, just thinking out loud………raging.
