Gravity do some new thin ones, look lovely. I’ve only recently realised how noticeable the difference can be. I.e. new thick gloves on superstar excel and I couldn’t grip as per normal and got arm pump…. Back to regular superstars….

Traditional layout, Simon? Or did you do something funky to get the bikes in?

Carloz, a cracking van! A couple of questions if you wouldn’t mind?

Is that Rib seat the 130 or 150cm model?
It doesn’t look as though your garage goes beyond the wheel arches, is this deep enough for 4 bikes? How deep is it? Wheels on or off?
Why did you not do the wall cabinets above the kitchen as per diagram?

Ive spent a lot of time trying to design something similar, but with a double (130cm) bunk. Which forces you to have a side (VW) style kitchen. However, you may have changed my mind.

On it now, love it. It’s bare bones which makes it mega quick, the downside being a little bit less polish that the regular manufacturers skins add…HTC, in my case. For example when you share a YouTube video it defaults to gmail…. no options for SMS,facebook and the like. Likewise I liked the way my very old HTC put people’s facebook profile pics into google contacts. There’s third party app solutions to all these which are better than manufacturers skins once set up. I love it, but also like to tinker.

I pay £250 for advertising, credit check and initial contract….. just to be watertight and have some recourse if required. Did inventory myself, manage myself, open a DPS account myself etc. If the house is in good nick and you get a good tenant management is minimal i.e. a yearly gas check and a signed covering letter to say the original (agency produced) contract remains extant or add amendments.

    HTH

EDIT: WHS sell contracts I think for about £25, so if you want to do the leg work yourself it can probably be done for sub £100. I just like the feeling of having someone to blame (although how fruitful this would be I’m not sure) should it all go tits up!

EDIT AGAIN: EPC was included, no idea they were that expensive. Especially as the last one involved a spotty kid asking if we ever got cold!

+1 SS Kevlars, £25 for 4 pairs, 2 rides in and loving them. Superior to proper Shimano and Clarkes IMO

Ah, my local is Black Rocks, some hidden gems around there, plus the Brown Trousers descent other side of the canal. It’s in superb nick at the moment too.

Not last night, opted for the Chesterfield Road jumps instead……beautifully groomed and only myself and the neighbour there. Nice to know there’s a good scene going on, will have to get back there!

+1 blackspire stinger. As mentioned drop the front mech so the cage tracks the outer ring with a 1mm gap and ensure you’ve wound in the limiting screws to avoid overshooting the selected chainring.

Fire Service animal rescue training. Hampshire FRS train pretty much every brigade in England and many worldwide. Did my course with them, good bunch.

Asgard Annex steel shed and an 45kg Rhodesian Ridgeback. So far, so good. Have considered a “Danger High Voltage” sticker for the shed as it looks like a electrical distribution box.

Micro(Mini on the 500?) USB to Micro USB was my thinking. Figured a slight zoom in and the default to road setting on the route plotter would suffice, not like a mouse and the “cross hairs” granted, but workable. I’ve found the Edge 500 fine for navigating on road, even more track like roads in the Peak. But, I wouldn’t bother on the MTB, it’s just a bread crumb trail, but does alert you when you deviate from a pre-loaded route pretty quick, i.e. 10yds or so.

Cheers for the responses so far!

Spyderco Assist for me. Serrated, blunt nose, goes through rope, seatbelts, horse blankets and climbing harnesses with worrying ease. You can’t stab/cut the casualty either due to the big, rounded, blunt nose making it ideal for suspended casualties or those in tension (for whatever reason). Also got a glass breaker that shatters toughened and laminated glass with ease if you’re in the rescue or RTA business. Huge thumb hole for one handed opening. Wouldn’t be without it now.

If that’s all he’s after I’d go for a decent bluetooth speaker. Jambox, Bose etc. I picked up a Gear4 street party wireless for £35 from Sainsbury. I know it’s not got the quality of a posher speaker, but it’s fine for the kitchen and far better than the pants iPad speakers.

I wouldn’t burn anything tanalised, it lets off arsenic.

Nasty fumes can and do (IME) get back into the room. Not worth the risk. FWIW coal/log burners are as likely to let off CO due to inefficient burning/leaking combustion chambers etc as gas or combi boilers etc.

    I’m in the 25% camp.

However, I suspect if it’s this hard now, it probably was then. Sometimes the hard way and the right way are the same. You knew it then, sounds like you know it now. So it’s time to MTFU for a second time, stop living in the past and go have fun with you’re family, NOW.

I emailed hope in April 2011 asking about hub compatibility, before buying new wheels was told Evo 2’s and Pro 3’s would be retro-fit-able and that they’d be available early ’12………… I won’t be basing anymore purchase decisions on their info.

Ridden both, own a Mega. As said above the Mega pedals far better, especially on the ups. However, I find it way better on the downs, as always its personal preference and I built my Mega for me, i.e. there’s plenty of things I’d have changed on the Alpine, bars, tyres etc. The Mega needs to be hammered before you start to feel the real advantages. So with my limited skill set that’s pretty much out of control speed wise, but it always feels planted and I usually get away with it (fingers crossed). I do light downhill on it amongst those on the big bikes and I’ve never felt the bike was the limiting factor. I also hired a Demo 8 on an uplift day in Queenstown and would have been happy, although not as fast perhaps on the Mega. The Mega does have a long wheel base and can feel tight in switch backs although I tend to notice this less, the steeper things get.

Did Wiggo not run an MTB cassette on the tour for one of the alps stages? He was on Di2 so 10 speed, this would suggest you can swap Shimano 10 speed……. Unless of course Shimano did a spot of personal wizardry for him?

Agree with the above, I have a the original Mega and love it. Used a 2012 stumpy evo for a week in NZ last year, very nice, capable bike, but I preferred the Mega, you might not however! I’d say I could do stuff on the Mega I couldn’t on the Stumpy. The Stumpy felt a bit easier on the climbs but the Mega wouldn’t of struggled, I’d just be marginally more out of breath!
