I’ve one of the originals in a medium, Matlock way. Although I’m guessing you’re after one of the new models?

Response, noise, mpg all improved. Maybe a placebo!? Either way; never, ever fill up at a supermarket. My folks took their car in with coughing \ spluttering, apparently their not alone. Mechanics suggested impurities (including water!) Throughout the system. From the big T (not Topman) if you were wondering…

123 was better than any “not locked in” ISA I could find too, even after you consider tax, there’s an equivalent rates converter on money savings expert.

Most mortgages can be overpaid by 10% of the balance each year inconvenience being when you want the money back. But if your due to remortgage before then it could be workable. That said my mortgages are lower than the 3% you get in a Santander 123 account. Be aware for the rewards 123 are great, especially if you have Santander mortgage, but their customer service is shocking. For me by the time you factor in fees, higher rates etc, overpaying a standard mortgage was way more cost effective, but you needing the money back at some point may negate the benefits.

I’m sure someone of more use will be along shortly…..

Get rid. Last plumber I had stated exactly what “rubbish” he would and wouldn’t take. Following reports of tradesmen choosing to take only the copper for example and likewise customers expecting asbestos lagging to be removed and yet the copper left. Either way he’s deviated from your spec and if it’s not written down that’s his mistake as much as yours.

She’s about to go through hell. Be everything you can for her. I came close to breaking when invited to see the babies head and was ambushed by a turd! It’s hard mate, like watching your favourite pub burn down. Sorry. But 14 weeks on, never been happier it’s worth every second!!!

Some comments above have made me chuckle, others are a little more balanced and quite sensible and relevant.

BUT, for those of you who don’t have sugar in your tea, you really should up your game. It’s one of the fundamentals of tea drinking, you know.

    Whatever makes you smile innit!

Regardless of the format of the application, you’ll still have to do the medical and all other associated tests. Not getting how the faux rejection and subsequent appeal works in anyones favour; mistake, deliberate, loophole or otherwise!? I personally would not want to join any organisation on the back of an appeal….

There were mid thirties blokes in my platoon at Sandhurst. No harm in investigating? If you don’t want to take that route then fair play. But, if you’re not totally adverse to the idea, why close a door?

I know nothing of the structure of of QARANC!? Would there be opportunities to nurse in an officer role? Sounds like a win win to me!

The RAMC officers I knew were either docs or had no med background at all. In the Corps most officers jobs are pretty similar; HR, admin and logistics in one guise or another. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go that way, I’d recommend it in fact. But as a non doc with pips on your should you won’t do much hands on med stuff. If you want to keep building on you med skills the soldier ranks is the way to go…. And you’ve already got a head start. If you fancy putting another string in the bow take a look at the officer route.

I think 55 was the standard age for pension calculations. You’ll still be entitled to full term pension if you serve your 16/22yrs (Officer/Soldier), many go beyond this. There’s been loads of changes since I left with regards to the pension, the scheme was split in to whilst I was still serving and an offer to transfer made to everyone……..no thanks! The new scheme is still good though. The big difference being you don’t actually pay into the Army scheme out of your salary, unlike my current Firefighters one which is far less attractive and costs £350, soon to be £400ish a month.

Do it. Blokes in their mid thirties in my platoon during training. The only caveat on them was no infantry IIRC. Plus you’ve still got 5yrs on them…. Good luck!

Hmmmm…… you’re right Chef the weights are winter-like although the Castelli site has them nicely placed between winter and summer…. It’s these or dhb Aeron Race Knickers. There’s only £20 in it and I really like my other Castelli gear so might take a punt and return if not…..the joys of Collect+!!!

The day you describe aP is the sort of thing I want them to cater for. I should be able to make a good guess of their warmth on inspection.

    Thanks for the responses folks!

Bent mech hanger IME. Stick the gears in the big rings, deflate the shock, if there’s Still a bit of slack in the chain, you’re fine. You’ll be surprised the grief a slightly bent hanger can cause!

I’m sure I heard of cable issues with Thomson!? Could be wrong, loving my Lev although some say theirs “sink” in the travel. Mine has been fine, but I’ve not had it long…… I like it due to the longer drop, which if you have a bike with lots of standover makes sense to get the saddle as far down as possible. And the lack of cable movement/loop is a bonus too. Saved about £80 on Stifs price by going German.

You mentioned this on a course last summer when you were looking at my Mega, so in true recommend what you got style:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/nukeproof-mega-am-frame-rockshox-monarch-2013/rp-prod81835

The last of the 26″ers, Monarch+ and a bit of a bargain. Very similar suspension design and angles but slightly longer. Mines stood up to some pretty ugly dismounts too.

With regards yo what mulv said I did some number crunching…..one of the criticisms I read was the long chainstay length, so put a layback Thomson on it, with a 50mm stem – I’m 5’11 on a med, no problems. In-line Gravity then put on so I could drop it right down, still Ok on XC. KS Lev on it now…… yet to be ridden due to smashed shoulder, but I foresee no probs. I’ve long arms, short torso, as always ride one if you can!

In true “promote your own bike fashion” …I love mine. I don’t embarrass myself alongside the proper DH bikes at Stiniog and its more than workable on a Peaks all-dayer with 1×9. I quite fancy a 650b hardtail and a proper DH bike, but this and my road bike cover everythig……. and I’m skint! There’s folk cutting around trail centres on far bigger bikes and have never been to or plan on going to the alps, so don’t worry about that. I’d recommend it given your riding, especially if it’s an only bike. Taking mine to the Megavalanche this year :0)

Apparently lots came with the IFP under pressurised. Upped mine to 225, made a massive difference. I’m 12 stone plus clothing/kit, used to blow through the travel at 30%. No such problems now. Seems to have made the 3 lockout modes more defined too. HTH

I asked the G 500 and N7 question a while back. Thoughts were its do-able by importing files, since there’s no Garmin Uploader software for Android. Touchscreen, ie big hand small map limitations might frustrate. Spent my tablet money on a dropper, so its all speculation!

My Lev arrived today, had a Clarkes’ outer cable around, so used that. You could have swung a bus of the Lev one and it would have still had five 90deg angles in it!

It was going to be blue loctite for the threads……due to the design and sealed bearings it looks as though all/most movement happens within there, so I think I’m really just wanting to keep all the crud out!?

There’s sealed bearings which are new, so fine. Then there’s the cylindrical bushings, which I’m thinking need lubricating? Sorry, probably a poorly worded question.

20 mile each way, 300m ish of climbing…..always find myself gunning for the hour…. Occasionally I make it. I struggle to apply any extra structure, take it easy etc. I do enjoy the odd hill effort or lamppost interval mind.

A brilliant read. Take the advice and move on.

A quick analogy: if i spent £2700 on a meal with all my favourite ingredients, cooked the way i like, I wouldn’t have the cheek to charge you £1000 for the dirty great steamer that refuses to flush the next morning. That doesn’t mean i didn’t enjoy the meal, just that it wasn’t an investment and you probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much. I have strange tastes, you see?

Take or leave the advice, but you should know that if you throw teddies around in here expect some stones to come back!

I hope you recoup what you can.
