Into the AC joint in the shoulder, never even felt it. And I was poo-ing my pants as a nurse was called to hold me still following a “this is really going to hurt and you’re not going to like me for several days” warning from the surgeon. Masses of pain relief and the reduced swelling made the joint a lot more “stable”. Recommended.

I like that. Very sensible build.

Not impressed with my Monarch RCT3, it’s just “wooden”. I’ve made it a lot better by getting the adapter and playing with the IFP pressure – it was way out when first checked, which might have been the issue. If I could afford an upgrade I definitely would. The Monarch+ is meant to be a different and better beast. The CCDB air, better still and a bit of a bargain for an extra £100. On a single pivot, straight forward design like the Codeine, I’d imagine the upgrade will be well worth it where the ride characteristics are more shock than suspension design driven. I’m sure it was the CCDB inline that has a recommended weight limit? If you got it, spend the dosh.

I want an unlimited OS subscription, and for the maps to be available cross platform, ie Garmin and Strava through my single OS subscription. Similar to how I can use Paypal in lots of on-line stores and watch Netflix across many devices. Why should OS burden themselves with App development and maintenance? They map, stick to what you know, sensible collaborations and cross platform access will see you “moving with the times” for minimal effort. I think you’ll see more people subscribe and device manufacturers will probably profit and thank you also…….after paying you huge amounts for their corporate subscription 8)

Friend had one, the dashboard “warped” due to damp, it had lifted at either end. It was a known problem. Seemed nippy enough. It would be spare pants and toothbrush only if you were away for the weekend, I personally couldn’t live with one. Boxster? Z3M?

I’ve nothing to add after reading this thread. I probably thought I would when I opened it, but now it appears I stress over some very petty things indeed. Much admiration for some of you folks and what you’ve dealt with. Perspective eh.

I was once was pleased with myself after an E3 6b onsight to then look up and see Kevin Jorgenson soloing Knocking on Heavans Door E9 6c. 😯 My friend then fell off the climb I was on breaking his tib and fib (open) and screamed like a banshee. Jorgesone was so in the zone he never even heard it according to his spotters. He stole my moment, and rightly so as you’ll appreciate if you’ve ever seen the route. An amazing spectacle to watch.

Cheers Jam bo! I really fancy this, but always assumed it was beyond me as I only got a road bike in Jan 2013. Managed the aforementioned sportives and the Etape du Tour by July then back on the MTB until injury in Feb 2014. Just had an op to sort that so will stick FW on the 2016 to do list! I’ll be riding to finish it, non of that wattage brutality for me!

Logic Ideal+ here. Very impressed, seems to maintain a temperature better than the WB in this place. Filler loop seized, one phone call, known problem, replaced under warranty within a few hours. Faultless since.

    7 year warranty too!

TNF Solo 12. Weighs 1kg, single skin, surprisingly good in strong winds especially given I never use the guys. Obviously no room for cooking, it’s well vented, but you’ll need them open all the time or else it gets a little clammy. £85 from cotswold on offer iirc.

A warm up for the Dartmoor Classic!? I did the DC in 2013 and thought it was a bit of a gift compared to Coasting in Cornwall (the worlds worst route and weather!) and Sommerset Hills Gran Fondo (which is fantastic btw). Is the FW not savage? I really don’t know if you’re having a laugh, sorry!

Mrs climbingkev is a hypnotherapist, she’s not done fear of dentists but most other stuff. Generally things boil down to confidence, a bad experience, lack of knowledge etc. From what I can gather (there’s no way I’d let her hypno me, I’m not sure why, is just not my thing and it’s an approach that you need to mentally invest in whole heartedly) it boils down to a suggestive therapy where you’re educated in the outcomes of seeing the dentist, these benefits are then linked mentally to and outweigh your (irrational) fears and so the balance is subconsciously tipped in your favour and the fear subsides. She don’t swing a pocket watch and slowly say “it won’t hurt”.

You’ve mentioned hypnotherapy so are probably a good candidate for it.

+1 WeeRide. More protection for the wee man when the Mrs inevitably creams-in. Feels better balanced than a rear seat. And wee man can see where he’s going too, rather than your sweaty back!

I must as we were HEAVILY guided in what the questions were going to be and books annotated accordingly. Maybe the Ethos on an intensive course is a little different?!

What jamj said. Somebody has reinvented common sense with diagrams, funky terms etc and managed to sell the idea. I imagine they’ve done petty well out of it too!

I can remember one exam question being made null and void. It was a spot what’s wrong with this process diagram, which was riddled with errors, apparently due to a printing mistake. As in, no we didn’t mean that error we meant this one which you can’t see as it’s not printed… Turned into a bit of a farce. As said above annotate your book and know your way around it. I did the intensive course and can’t remember revising at all.

Mine was the touring, when you said bike in the boot I assumed you were looking at the touring!

I had one, was very good fuel wise. Seem to remember getting 650 out of a tank, that was urban commutes and Autobahn smashing. Was a 56 plate. The boot isn’t very big and is an awkward shape, that and the lowish roof means it’s probably not as bike friendly as you might like.

Been looking at these, how do they compare to a tripster? I’m wanting something for sportives and bridleway/canal path blasts. Pickenflicks seem great value.

Good work! Reminds my of cancelling Orange mobile contract; ask to be out through to cancellations….”hello, retentions”
“errr, no I asked for cancellations”
    “OK, what do you want?”
They met all my steep demands, every year!

Also had a SLAP repair on Monday, it seems all the cool kids are doing it! 😀

Surgeon almost talked me out of it following my pre-op on Friday as my symptoms and pain level appeared so mild they almost outweighed the risk of the op, frozen shoulder, infection etc. So I gave it a thrashing over the weekend, found my ceiling, which was a lot lower than I’d like and the instability/reliability was the biggest concern for me. Decided to have the op.

However, post op debrief the surgeon was shocked at the actual damage which included a tear down the bicep as well as a huge SLAP which needed anchoring back down. So, glad I went through with it in the end. I’m in very little pain at the moment, am wondering if the nerve block is yet to wear off?

Lower arm movements are fine and the stiffness/discomfort/pain increases as movements get closer to the shoulder, as expected. Had the dressings changed today – all good.

For me any information on the op from those who’d had it was really useful and comforting (I was bricking myself, especially as it could have all been for nothing!) so I’ll try to remember to post back as I hit milestones. Email in profile if you got any questions.

I used to use Granuflex on blisters and back sores (from running with big bags), seemed to speed things up.

    +1 moses, a quick £250…..then what.

Rates as they are, all sound advice is pay off your mortgage before investing. I’m quite keen on the idea of others paying off my mortgages thankyou very much.

I’ve a few, like others have said think long term. Mine are a vehicle towards the dream house one day where I can release the capital required to buy a project, switch mortgages to interest only to find the project, then switch back to repayment to pay off in time for retirement. Huge excel spreadsheet to make sure I’m on track. I’ve got friends who have in excess of a 100 properties each and all advertised, managed themselves etc….. They have very different tactics to me, mainly to reduce tax. They’re all interest only-ers. But I also have a job and property is there job…. A busy one, filled with millions of pounds of debt against their names and sleepless nights, the cash flow looks nice though.

Investors don’t put prices up. If you’re a cash buyer, no chain etc that generally commands at least 10% discounts and is a huge bargaining tool in my experience. The the price that a house sells for is effectively bought down.

I used the toilet pads (help control mess and smell) positioned by the door. When pup looks ready scoop them up and put them on the pad, plenty of praise. Pup will start to use pads by themselves, look for the signs of imminent poop then open door, put pad outside, coax pup onto it, poop, praise. They’ll get it, it doesn’t take long. I lived on the first floor of the mess, so essentially one room living and no outside door. Not ideal, but workable.

Get out mate. You’ve tried to fix things, she never played ball. Stick around and you’re only making things worse. You sound like a carrying chap, who’s staying because he cares – you’re making it worse. You should feel guilty for staying and kidding her and yourself, not leaving. Use your next shift to phase yourself to your mums house. I don’t know when your next “day” is with her, but it needs to be a sit down and chat as in “I’m gone”. Not dinner, not a movie, not even a cup of tea. Get out the rut. If that means telling her on the doorstep, so be it. If you think you’ll buckle and go back a call or text. Not ideal and many would say cowardly, but not as cowardly as staying! You’re the priority here mate, do what MUST be done.

Good luck, and post some pics of your solo motor bike trip….. It has to happen, that’s your medicine; not cat shit!

I wanted to back it, but then the Mrs noted how “knees around the ears” all the kids looked. I know the seat height is adjustable, but, visually not to the extent required?…
