@stumpy01 Thanks for the offer, I’ve sent Northwind my stl, so we’ll see how he gets on with it. If there’s any issues/problems I’ll drop you a message.

Hey @northwind (or anyone else), would you be interested in printing me a couple of EXT suspension adjusters? It’s basically a cuboid with a 12mm hex hole in the middle and a 4mm allen sticking out of one end, 50x20mm. More than happy to pay.

I’ve got a Tuff Burner I’ve been meaning to get resprayed back to original colours as it had a hard life by the coast for a while and ended up very salty/rusty.
Up until about 6 weeks ago it was living at my parents in Wordsley, already stripped down. However it’s now made the journey back to Cardiff with me, typical…
PM if you’re interested, i’ve got all the RAL codes it’d need for handlebars, fork and frame.

Just updated my DH roster ahead of the racing this weekend. Is anyone else having a go?

Plantnet is also worth a look as an App/photo based ID system.

Available on android (and probably IOS)

Have you had a look at the equivalent Land Rover subscription? (drive pivotal)

A disco sport/f-pace/evoque are the cheapest at £750 a month, on a sliding scale up to a full fat Range Rover for £1600 a month. A month! Ludicrous! Their justification for this?

Pivotal is aimed at the 20% of young professionals who wouldn’t ordinarily own a car.

Why would a ‘young professional’ who isn’t currently spending on a car, decide suddenly they wanted to spend at least £750 (+£550 joining fee) a month on a Land Rover?

I’ve just ordered a Fast Yari-Up (YU) and an MRP ramp control (RC) to fit to my Yari, while i wait for the long term reviews of the EXT ERA.

The YU and the RC worked out to cost the same as the Charger 2.1 RC2 (near enough). This was following recommendations from another thread on here a few days ago suggested that the YU was a better damper overall than the Charger. I don’t know if it will be better than the Charger, i just know the MoCo damper was beating the hell out of me on rough stuff at 417 bikepark last week.

I hope you’re happy with yourselves, off the back of this thread I’ve just ordered a yari-up and a ramp control to try and make my yari a better fork.

Its not a negative coil spring, the image in the article (and below, hopefully) shows its a negative airspring.
The coil spring acts as the first inch or so of travel, as so far as i can tell.

    cleetonator

From what I can tell, the coil spring on the air side allows for small movement at the top of the travel before initiating movement in the air spring.
This means that the top of the fork is super supple because its essentially a coil fork, with only the stiction of the wiper seals to overcome.
When the travel moves beyond the extent of the small coil spring there’s already momentum in the lowers which overcomes the stiction associated with the seals of the main air spring.
There’s effectively 3 positive springs in the fork, one activating after the other when a bump is encountered(spring-air-air), and one negative spring (air).

I’ve just read the press release on Vital and it suggests its €1480+VAT, which is an odd way of advertising a European price to consumers. It seems PB forgot to add the +VAT bit to their article.

FYI, mid September availability/delivery, confirmed by CP at Mojo.

Can anyone explain why is there a £250 difference between the Euro price on the other bike website (converted to GBP – €1480 = £1340) and the mojo price (£1590)?

I just want to know when the EXT Era fork is being released. Its only been 5 months since STW posted the teaser article… (Yes yes, I know Covid has happened in the meantime and Italy has been hit relatively hard)

Tried Global in Audnam? Tucked off the A491 opposite kiddy carpets. They’ve done some obscure keys for me over the years.

As above, Jawbreakers with Prism Trail and a clear lens here. Brilliant for MTB.

PM me if you want to try them on before you buy (I’m Cardiff based)

I’ve been pondering this too. Same as you, training on zwift through lock down and seeing the benefits that power based training is having. Again, thinking of getting a power meter for the gravel bike, and maybe the full sus bike.

Ideally I’d get a pair of pedal based power meters and swap between, but there seems to be an absolute dearth of 2 bolt spd compatible power meter pedals. SRM seem to be the only ones producing them, and £1000 for a pair of pedals is a painful concept, considering the hammering that they’ll likely receive.

Currently booked onto Grinduro Wales in July, which is still going ahead according to the website… Whether it happens or not remains to be seen. To be honest, I’m expecting (hoping) it will be cancelled.

Just had a new saddle turn up for the bike on the turbo. Just waiting for the EXT Storia V3 now. Its guaranteed to turn up during a video call.

It’s an external bolt, visible underneath and to the rear of the bottom bracket, angled up towards the switch link. Give it a quick check if the bike is to hand.

    One of these: https://www.silverfish-uk.com/products/SPARES/Frames/YC300030234_Yeti-Switch-link-Bump-Bolt-dick

With one of these on the end: https://www.silverfish-uk.com/products/SPARES/Frames/YC300030235_Yeti-Switch-link-Bump-Stop

Ps, it’s a brilliant bike. Get this sorted and you’ll discover its a total ripper.

Is there a bolt in the bottom of the frame behind the BB? Item 5 in the assembly section of the owners manual (p22)?

    https://yeticycles.s3.amazonaws.com/static/pdfs/2011_OwnersManual_SB66.pdf

I think that’s what stops the switch link going over centre, hence the rubber bung on the end of it.

I’ve had 2 pairs of Protector Pro’s and a pair of Protector Light’s over the last 12 years. £309 is a bit spendy but considering my experience with other haix boots I’d be fairly confident they’d be very durable and comfortable.

As another option, Meindl Airstream’s are meant to be very comfortable too but I’ve not got first hand experience of them.

Ext are testing a fork. I was thinking of demoing a selva from mojo too, but if there is a EXT fork coming I might wait.

I’ve been meaning to get in touch with them about demoing a Storia and possibly a Selva on my Megatower. It’s reassuring to hear that there is good aftercare if i do buy one.

In true STW style, recommend what you’ve got:

Cheap: Husqvarna Functional Forest helmet. Cheap, comfy and gets the job done day in day out.

Expensive: Protos Integral Arborist (or Forest). Very spendy, very comfy, makes you look like a power ranger.

I tend to reach for the Protos most of the time, but if you’re just on the ground all the time stick with the husky.

If you’re not in a huge rush, contact arcteryx themselves. I had a hem seam come undone on a softshell, they asked me to send it to the repair centre, fixed it and posted it back. Only cost to me was the postage. I think I was without it for about 7 days.

Bearing in mind it was a 9 year old coat at that point and I’d lost the receipt, I was quite happy with the service.

    Might be worth a shot.

    Some suggestions in here: https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/suggestions-for-places-to-visit-in-australia-hong-kong-and-singapore/
Don’t take too much from TomW1987’s comment in that thread, its a reasonable place.

Mrc C and I went and wandered around the Gardens by the Bay (worth the entry fee to the conservatories) and the Singapore botanical gardens. We were pretty burned out by the time we got to Singapore so I’ll admit we spent more time relaxing at the hotel than being out doing things.
Be prepared for oppressive humidity, that was the killer for me.

    “Price”

The prices listed in the link (and on the other website) are wrong. They’ve shown pictures of Box one with prices of Box 3 (or just made up, I can’t tell). If you check the Box website the prices are closer to the expected levels.

    Box 1
    Unibody Cassette: $360
    Shifter:$75
    Mech: $175
    Chain: $50
    Groupset: $627
