So any suggestions on how to choose between the two. I’m planning on using it for day hiking with a light day pack, predominantly in spring and autumn as I have a paramo that refuses to die for winter. One is regular goretex and the other is paclite plus. Thanks

Thanks, I also found that but as you said; no reference to paclite plus and not enough detail on the differences. I need numbers!

I’m struggling to find pros and cons to regular goretex vs pac lite plus goretex. I’m interested in waterproofness, breathability and durability. I understand pro and active but not these two? I’m considering a montane pac plus xt or Ajax as I’m a bit of a montane fan boy, thanks

I’ve got a lot of track and the bits that make it digital ( so you can switch lanes ) plus some digital cars if you are interested

We’ve pulled ours forward and are now leaving tomorrow at 3:30pm. Spoke to the resort today and it sounds like they are having a really tough time, it seemed to be fairly easy to get an apartment on the slopes for the Christmas week. The big deal is the additional cost to families with a couple of kids as they will need to be tested everyday which will cost about £500. Will also need to get children tested on the way down at a local chemist so they can ski on the first day. Good luck everyone

I’m using my wife’s 25 year old pot and a hand grinder, recently bought the same coffee pre ground and really can’t tell the difference. So what’s the consensus, bean or ground in moka pots?

Sorry to jump onto this thread but I have the same callipers and am concerned about their long term availability. So will any post mount mtb 2 piston shimano calliper work? Thanks

Anchovies, CO2, crank brothers tyre lever, mini pump and tube. Never had to use a tube in 5 years, anchovies have worked fine but I keep the pressure below 75psi. And I always have a preloaded anchovy as they can be a bit of a fiddle with cold fingers

I was one of the idiots attempting to hike in the lakes this week. Looking for advice on gaitors as feet got very wet. I was wearing waterproof keen boots and waterproof over trousers so I’m guessing the water wicked down my socks. Do gators work, do you wear them over the waterproof trousers, any recommendations to length, or even brand and type. Also, the rain covers on all our different brand ruck sacks were useless, I’m going back to liners. Finally, I’ve always been a bit underwhelmed with my paramo Quito which I’ve had for years but it performed faultless – completely dry after 6 hours in heavy rain and the venting zips worked well

We abandoned this morning and left wasdale at 9am after only 1 very wet and windy day of hiking. Adventurous drive out of south Cumbria with lots of flooding

I’m always surprised by posts like these. MrsToast has been struggling with this for a month, I might be being a bit naive but I would have thought Rutland and Giant would keep an eye on the bigger forums as this comes across as very bad publicity for them. It’s also their opportunity to look good by coming into the forum to help rectify the problem quickly and efficiently and, more importantly for them, it’s good PR. Really sorry for you, MrsToast

Have you tried any other tubeless tyres? I had roval wheels and the beads would come away from the rim with no pressure regardless of how long they had been on the rim and regardless of tyre manufacturer. I have now switched to mavic wheels and this doesn’t happen. Cycle clinic talks about this on his website, his summary is that some rims are not truely tubeless compatible. I don’t want to worry you but I read a thread on road.cc about someone on roval wheels who came off his bike because his front tyre came off after a sudden loss of pressure

I think the issue is where is your foot wide? I’ve recently been struggling to find walking boats that fit me. Many have a wide fit but then come back in too quickly, I’ve ended up with Keen which have a wide toe box and look almost square at the front. I wear mw7 shimano boots which are ok with normal socks but not something like a woolie bollie but the boots have good insulation so this is not a problem. I also have shimano xc7 wide fit which are perfect everywhere, I tried spec, nw, and lake super wide – none as good. The lake super wides were close but the heel fit was far too loose – again, it’s where your foot is wide, good luck as you need a lot of patience finding something that works.

Gaidong, how do you sell direct to them? And when they give a price guide, the price doesn’t change regardless of what option you choose for condition? Thanks

Thinking of selling my omega aqua terra co axial but can’t find any equivalent watches on eBay or chrono24 to work out a value. It’s 10 years old with a leather strap so thinking of going with eBay with a minimum of £1800 – does this sound sensible as I’m a bit nervous about eBay and chrono24 and getting a fair price, any advice gratefully received ….

It used to be just after Christmas and a lot of people would turn up with hangovers. This was back in the late nineties and we were all on panaracer xc pro’s – hope that helps! Happy memories, best result was 9th with no hangover!

Highly recommend the Endura FS260 Jetstream and the Perfetto. The Endura just edges it for me plus its a UK brand

We went the CTF route 18 years ago and switched to a junior share isa as soon as we could due to the poor performance of the CTF. It has always been on the understanding of paying for a uni degree or a house deposit. All money from relatives went in plus small regular contributions from us and it’s now worth 27K! Massively helped by 4 or 5 generous and well timed donations from grandparents. Kids have known about them for a long time and it was a great lesson in compound interest and the effect of a crisis and its recovery which I wish I had been given. We would review them yearly so they understood what was going on

out of curiosity, which kinesis frame do / did you have? I’m tempted by a RTD or 4 seasons and they seem to get good reviews for not being harsh – you have got me worried! Thanks

I sold my 3 year old rovals (for a good price as they appear to be a fashionable brand at the moment) because the bead didn’t lock into the rim and if there was a sudden total loss of pressure the bead would pop off which I was never happy with. Bought the new version of mavic kysrium sl becuase of the bead/rim interface standard they are pushing and the UST rim. It seems that most of the tubeless related problems on here are tape related and for me, taping has always seemed a bit of bodged engineering solution

When we switched to onestream about 8 months ago, the signal strength was hopeless so we contacted the support team. After a couple of days of trying the obvious, they sent us a new super duper router which is fast throughout an old 4 storey house at no extra cost

Give the blister as much air as possible in the next week. Definitely take compeed for the next trip. What inner soles is he using, how many times has he worn the boots and do the fit well, and what socks and how often is he changing them. If the weather is good, does he have the option of wearing a comfortable pair of trainers. I wore trainers for a day walk in the peaks on Friday and was amazed at how good my feet felt after 11m ( I wore my boots the day before and after )

For those that own a pair, we should honour the man in Singletrack style with a run this week wearing our old and tatty tracksters. Mine are out and ready, hope they stay up as the waist cord is long gone …

p7eaven, it took me a year and 3 attempts at C25K before I was comfortably running 5Ks. Take it slow and give your body time to adjust and recover

OP, your diagnosis sounds identical to mine and mine has turned out to be an injury called high hamstring tendinopathy. The hamstring is inflamed where it joins the sit bone. Like you, I only have this on one side and also tried a few saddles but they made no difference. Currently working with a phsyio to build up my hamstring but no real success after months of treatment. Hope the saddle change fixes it for you but it may be worth getting yourself checked first

I have the endura fs260 and the perfectto. Both are excellent, the perfectto is a bit warmer but still breathes well, has better pockets and a very long tail that I fold up. It’s more expensive but often on sale. Not quite sure why but the fs260 just pips it for me.

I have the sport 2 short sleeve jersey, I think the sizing is exactly as the size guide for me as a medium. Really like the jersey
