Really! Placebo, not from the U.S. Now that is a surprise…all these years.

Am also confused about the Flaming Lips, or is it the Smashing Pumpkins…

Means you can add in some road stuff too to broaden your options.

Just think of the ‘training effect’ when you pedal harder on the MTB 😉

Think you will have greater flexibility of route choice with a hard tail. Especially if you don’t know the tracks that well.

    FWIW

I met Danny Mac. whilst on holiday last month.

He was working on a ‘homegrown’ video. Set in proper mountains (a.k.a. fffing lethal) on a Santa Cruz MTB.

Plus, at least one ‘never done before’ moment.

    Will be worth watching!!

    Cheers, Paul.

Not strictly a curry house as such, but Cachumba on Burton Road in West Didsbury is excellent.

They have a relatively small menu, made up of a combination of Far Eastern (Indian, Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Vietnamese) dishes, all spiced to varying degrees.

Went there last night after reading this a while back.

Yes, excellent!! We will return 🙂

    Thanks for the recommendation.

Nice bright thing to SW around sunset is Venus (but don’t tell him) 🙂

Best, assuming it gets really bright, will be in mornings 06:00 onwards.

Maybe start looking Sunday morning and through the week, in the SE.

    Good luck with the clouds…

    One day at Gisburn.

If you’ve got sick, rad skillz then Lee Quarry Black, downhill and jumps sections should see you right. On the way home, sort of.

If you can pedal a bit then add in a couple of loops of Cragg Quarry as well.

Classic newbie roadie error: ride the uphills too hard and the downhills too easy

    Do you know me? 🙂

Working on going faster on downhills and the flat.

    Hi RRR

Just started on the road myself.

I’ve a seat pack for the essentials and have one roadie type shirt. The 3 big pockets work. Also the long zip is very useful.

Currently using some inner shorts as ‘lycra’, it is better than proper MTB shorts, ‘honest’.

MTBed on flats for past 5 years, using Shimano 105 SPD setup on road bike, you’ll soon get used to it.

Running a 105 Compact double drive train with the biggest cassette it will take at the back…my first road rides were in the dark peak, you will be walking unless you have a triple setup (and be looked on as a ‘faggot’ etc.)

Still keeping the peak on my helmet, keeps the rain off my specs 😉

It is a different type of pain…

    …but strangely enjoyable.

    Good luck!

The best way up to the top of the short downhills that drop into the skills area at Lee Quarry is back up the easiest (most eastwards) red downhill track.

    Need a quiet day/night though 😉
