Went round again yesterday and the new (and old) circular red signage seems reasonably foolproof to get you round.

    I have a Canon 40D, stepped up from a relatively plasticy 400D.

No problems whatsoever. Quality build, good features. Cannot go wrong really with this Canon range.

Surely 'release on compassionate grounds' as above or with Mr Biggs is what separates us from the terrorists and right-wing America.

A good position to be in.

    Paul

PS It would have been big 'internal' political mistake for the Obama administration to take any other stance.

    Aghhh!

    Some classics here 🙂

    Hi Simon

Is the route you have posted the one that you took or the one that the 'ride' took? Many thanks.

Very nicely put together. Certainly makes me want to ride there!

    Must get back to Calderdale.

Looks like a typical Calderdale route and ride, quality 🙂 Some parts are familiar.

It would be good to see the route posted up on the Boggies website. For my future use…cheers 🙂

It'll be covered in coastal clag 😉

Hope it isn't! You could always lead the Long Mynd route as a STW North West/West Midlands chapter ride..?

    Llandegla moors loop[/url]

Ignore all the Llandegla naysayers! If you have limited time it is ideal.

Do the black and on the way up add this loop out onto the moors 🙂

I hate to say this, but on the subject of weather forcasting, I totally agree with TJ. Learn about it yourself, check the DATA available before you go out (Not the forecast) and decide weather to take a t-shirt, coat, or canoe……

    Only 49…
…have similar but wouldn't call it a pot belly!!!

ziggy has some good things to say also remember the belly on Indurain? Wasn't real, just a product of being pictured bent over riding and the huge lung capacity pushing internal body bits down and out over waistband.
We must be sooo fit. That's my story anyway!

Hope 2 LED, were about £195 over winter, then summer came and I was looking for deals on lights and they were down to ~£155. Bought them at £105 delivered :))

Pictures look fantastic! Weather looks OK for Sunday too.

Would love to come but my post-op knee is only up to 2 hr moderate trail centre riding at the mo.

Being a user of old skool maps, is there anyway of getting the tracklog onto a map…
    ..for free?

    Good luck

Meals, caffeine, activity and anxiety will cause them to change.

To get a true resting heart rate and blood pressure repeat at the same time of day, probably 2+ hours or so after food in the evening. No alcohol or caffeine.

Practice until you get consistent results and this will also get you relaxed about the process (if you had any concerns). Check that you are using the machine properly too.

If there are any regular smokers on this thread maybe a read of the survival statistics will help you give up.

**DO NOT READ if you are close to someone going through lung cancer or don't wish to be scared shitless**

    Heyup,

    This works for me.

Have a good solid outing on the bike 2 days before (tomorrow, Thursday).

Rest for a couple of days, eat and drink well (no boozing the night before). Have good meal evening before and try to get a breakfast down you.

Nibble and drink throughout the ride especially during the first half/two-thirds of the ride.

Pace yourself, look at the hill and if you know you cannot ride it all stop and push before you blow up.

    Good luck

Algarve, Portugal. Sunniest part of Europe 🙂 Loads of cheap flights to Faro gives timing flexibility for the travel.

Remember most of the faff with flying short haul is the stuff on the ground, getting to and at the airport so don't let an extra 30 – 45 mins flight put you off going further south. 🙂

I've have moved away from the large CF cards e.g. 4Gb down to several 1 and 2Gb cards. Regularly swap and it reduces the potential data loss by sharing the eggs around several baskets 🙂

A good day out is start with half the Tarw trail (get to the top of Mantrap ASAP, missing the long drag to Snap Crackle Pop and come straight back then do the Beast (missing the fireroad loop after Dolfrwynog) BUT add in Dreamtime on the way out.

Now that is *the* best of the CyB waymarked trails!! 🙂

If 'The Begiining of the End' sections are open do the Beast (can shorten the long out and back loop after the forest cafe if required). If those sections are closed do the new 'Coch' and then Tarw.

    Enjoy.

    Will be quiet in Jan.

La Plagne 1800, was pleasantly surprised this year. Loads to go at and you could add on a day over in Les Arcs (buy lift pass extension when you are there).

Goes from glacier down and down and down.

A common UFO are novelty hot air ballons. Bright orange (lit up by flame), silent and can appear quite fast moving as much closer than you think. Usually part of some celebration and many are seen in a short space of time.

    Hope not! 🙂

Heyup Dave, were you one of the Gisburn 'super massive' that passed me on a fire road having a swig. I got there early and was on a second loop. Also sorted a quick route direct to the base of the quarry section.

    A great evening 🙂

Went round today (Sunday) using the map on pg 1 of the thread.

Wiggly Woods are tight! A great, great section!
The long stretch out of the quarry brilliant, a bit Penmachno feel, like the musical woodwork, lots of cool red sections.
    Big Berm Gully a blast.
Even the two blue sections are excellent to finish off.

All in all an excellent session and much kudos to the volunteers and key personnel.

    Bring it on!

I use 10kph to estimate based on bridleway type riding in the hills (min. trail centre red standard). Can get above 12kph in trail centres. YMMV!!

PS Lunch stop not included or taken 😉

Many thanks all. Northwards it is then. Probably start and finish in Troutbeck, leaves the road work for when I’m tired.
