Congratulations. Incredible effort. I’m sure it will take several weeks to process the memories.

    Good luck Marcus.

I’m entered in the SDW100 and NDW100 this year and will probably do the OMM again.

Would love to attempt a Bib Graham round in the next couple of years.

Relentless Forward Progress is good or try “never wipe your arse with a squirrel” which is available as a free pdf if you search.

Good luck Marcus and ajf. The Spine and BG are both on my list to attempt someday.

I’m signed up for the SDW100 (June) and NDW100 (August), and will most likely be at the OMM again. Aim is to get the points for the UTMB in 2019 after doing the TDS this year.

Mogrim, Damian Hall was 12th in the UTMB this year. I finished the TDS (http://utmbmontblanc.com/en/page/22/tds%C2%AE.html) and then watched the UTMB. The lead guys are very very fast.

    Good luck Spin!

Hi Wallop, yes that was the TDS and you might have seen me. I finished in just under 27 hours for the 121km and 7,000m of elevation.

Coming out of Bourg St Maurice is really tough. 1,142 of ascent in 5km and that’s just the start of the climb. It’s 2,000m in total to the top of that section.

We saw the UTMB leaders come through Les Contamines on the Friday night. They were running faster than I do a 10km!

My 5 years old (almost 6 now) is enjoying the Claude series by Alex T Smith and king Flashypants by Andy Riley, but you really can’t go wrong with Roald Dahl.

Hmmm yes, sorry it seems to have changed. It was a few years ago that I took my eldest.

Book if you want to see the dinosaurs. It’s free and faster.

    Expect to queue.

Sudocreme does me fine for Ultra’s.

It does seems a popular distance.

The one I did was a tiny event – Trail of Herts. It was really good and I’d certainly recommend it.

I wouldn’t have survived that one if it was just rice pudding. We were offered jaffa cakes, peanuts and crisps. Not the best spread, but OK.

No idea what you’re referring to Twixhunter. I think you might have me confused with someone else. I can’t stand rice pudding.

I ran my first marathon this March and second in May. I then did a 56 mile Ultra in September and didn’t die. I’m also back to running after a few weeks rest.

Run lots, but as has been said, longer than 3 hours or so isn’t necessary. Although I did run 27 miles of the course in training.

Now looking at the next ultra to enter.

theflatboy and urflying, let me know too if you head out. I’m in Crouch End, but like tfb, two kids has restricted my riding time.

Have a look at the Suunto Ambit. I have the 3 Peak and it’s excellent. Have previously used Garmins and the GPS on the Suunto is significantly better.

It looks a bit more ‘sport’ but not overly. And was performing much better than the Fenix others had when I ran an Ultra last month.

I wouldn’t say it was wonderful art, but it was certainly amazing what you can achieve with enough bricks and some imagination.

    Hi

Have you been told you can get back since your last thread?

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/crash-bang-wollop-fractured-olecranon

I recall being told that the biggest risk is of crashing and getting a fracture at the end of the plate, rather than where it had previously broken, which as others have said is ‘fixed’ by the plate.

I did the same a few years back. I didn’t get back on the bike for 5/6 months, although I could have got on earlier. I think I was given the all clear after 3 months but was told to be really careful, so I started running instead.

Make sure you really work on elbow mobility as soon as you’re told you should. I can’t fully lock out my arm anymore, but can get it mostly straight. My elbow is also still very sensitive, 5 years on, and really throbs at the slightest knock. But other than that, I rarely think about it now.

I was advised to get the metalwork removed when I mentioned MTBing and snowboarding to the Consultant. This was done a year later but could have been done earlier – I postponed it to ride Kielder 100. That operation is much quicker to recover from.

Check through Part B Means of Escape carefully before you go any further. That will tell you whether it needs to be fire rated, which will make a huge difference in cost and compliance with building regs.

Or try Two Wheels Good in Stoke Newington and ask for Alec.

The individual pursuit has been dropped so it would have to be the team pursuit.

Pasta is pretty bulky to carry and takes a while to cook, so uses lots of fuel, but you might not be worried about that.

I use cous cous or noodles which much more efficient to prepare. Just get the Ainsley Harriot Cous Cous packs and then add smoked sausage to that. Or put a cup-a-soup in with the noodles and the sausage.

26 sq m is a lot smaller than the minimum housing space standards set by the GLA, which (I think) applies to all new housing in London.

    I’ve enjoyed eating here

    http://www.addisrestaurant.co.uk/

But you could walk to Angel where there is a much better range for both eating and drinking. It really isn’t that far. Probably 15 to 20 mins up Pentonville Road.

Southwark to Archway on the northern line is about 30 minutes. It’s a steep climb up to Highgate, or Waterlow Park for a grassy hill, or the Heath.

But there should be closer in South London.

The Downs Link is really dull. The route I do cuts a couple of miles off from the beginning when compared to the BHF route.

    ciron

I’ve done that route several times before but carrying bivvy kit.

We tend to have dinner in a pub before really getting up to the SDW, then head west until it gets dark. Finish off the ride the next day with the 40 odd miles to Eastbourne. It works out at around 110 miles, maybe a touch more, from Richmond to Eastbourne.

I thought it was the way pace was done, but have not checked.

Anyway, the 210 is available for £114 on Handtec without the HRM. Good watch and works well for the bike. Can even be switched to show speed rather than pace.

We had the same when our eldest was 2ish. It wasn’t pouring with blood, but definitely bleeding. We were told the same by our dentist, but didn’t rush to see an emergency dentist. It went grey over time, not black, and is still in.

Funny thing is that its hardly noticeable now, whereas before you could see it clearly. Although that might just be me not seeing it as much now.

My mothers maiden name is Emanuel. It was only recently she discovered that when her fathers oldest brother began work at the pit, they mistakingly registered him as Emanuel rather than E. Manuel.

When the subsequent brothers started at the pit, including my Grandfather, they continued to be recorded as Emanuels, so our family name changed.

Worth checking for tube closures before you decide as the Northern Line is often affected at weekends. Check http://www.tfl.gov.uk

I’m the same as the Captain. Olecranon fracture that was plated and screwed. I’ve since had the metalwork out.

It was much worse when I first started physio. I could barely bend it 90 degrees, but that improved through a lot of work – basically forcing it straight with my good arm. Now I can get it to about 5 degrees or less than straight, but not locked out.

I also had a fair old lump where the fractures were. This is almost gone now, almost 5 years on.

Museum of childhood[/url] in Bethnal Green or the Science Museum, but this will be really really busy so expect to queue a LOT.

Same with the Natural History Museum. That was 40minutes to get in over the winter break, 90mins for the dinosaurs (although you can book for free and bypass the queue).

Oh, just realised this will still be on – Imagine. This is excellent with loads of free things to do. We went last Saturday.

I will be up for a night ride in a few weeks time if you do plan something.

My two are a bit older (4 and 1.5). My advice is to get the rides in now.
